As a swiss biology student who is a huge enthusiast in classic menswear and receives lots of compliments constantly on my clothes I can tell you that you've described 90% of my wardrobe. I think there are 4 garnments you could've highlighted more. I believe that Knit Polos either smooth ones or cable knit ones in colors like cream navy sand are absolutely perfect when paired with chinos or linen trousers for a very casual elegant summer look. For transitional seasons I like that you mentioned the waxed jacket but I think that one is slightly too old school, I think a quilted jacket is slightly better and also a peacoat is wonderful for that time of the year. Finally dont forget the gilet, its an absolute easy to style garnment that is very practical and the modernity makes it very casual but can be elevated (get one in a smoother wool texture not a puffer one) Finally accessories you left out completely. I suggest every man to get himself a good wrist watch (like in ur last vid) and a good pair of sunglasses. you dont need more. Great vid!

Thank you for your detailed response. I totally agree. In hindsight, I should have included accessories, especially a nice watch and bag instead of a backpack, plus the other items you mentioned. A gilet and a nice quilted jacket are great choices.
@rschweri5788 ай бұрын
@@Lukas_Schanderl I still wear a backpack. Its a very minimal one from samsonite that is clean black and a little shiny. As a student I find them very practical and a bag is scientifically proven to be worse for your back, this is why I prefer a backpack eventho stylistically it is not the most elegant choice. Also in science studies a bag would look too elegant in my opinion.

That's a good point. With a few heavy books and a laptop, that would not be a comfortable experience 😅

I agree with your comments in this video- I think a sports coat is likely too dressy for most days on campus, but good for special days. Turtlenecks and quarter zips make great sweater options. Nice to see all the outfits you're pulling from Simon Crompton. Although most university students can't afford to buy the brands he wears. Heck, I can't afford to buy them! :) Luca Faloni is a great brand, but also quite expensive for university students I think. But all of these are good looks to emulate, and to either thrift for or draw inspiration from to make your own affordable outfits.
@Lukas_Schanderl8 ай бұрын
Thanks, Simon. I know what you mean 😁 His coat alone is probably worth more than my entire wardrobe hehe. Just wanted to use the images as inspiration, not necessarily the exact items mentioned.

@Lukas_Schanderl Exactly! Much as I'd love to wear his brands, they're definitely out of my reach :). Thanks for another great video, my friend!

Excellent tips and suggestions. When I was attending university, I was poor. Fortunately, I worked at a men’s clothing store, but I couldn’t afford the clothes we sold. Nevertheless, I learned how to dress classy by helping my customers put together looks; and finding slacks, dress shirts, ties, etc. at J.C. Penny, and the Farah Factory store located in my home town. I wore a $5 Farah Brand Navy Blazer. Capstone shoes from J.C. Penny. A 100% year round wool Navy Blue suit from J.C. Penny and a Nino Cerrutti suit from the store I worked at. To class, I usually I wore Penny loafers, khakis, crew neck sweaters and my botton down white, light blue and dark blue dress shirts. My jeans were cheap. Generic stuff. Not that cool. I looked good. My girlfriend thought I dressed nicer than the other guys, more mature. She has always dressed extremely well, she was a model, I’m not kidding, she looks like Blair Kennedy from Less Than Zero. We celebrate our 31st anniversary in April. I only share this because even poor average looking guys, can dress well on a budget, and get the hottest most interesting girl on campus

@@Lukas_Schanderl thank you good man! I asked my wife why she was attracted to me, beyond my having Blue Steele good looks. She said she liked that I was confident, and a little bit of a jerk at time because I carried a little chip on my shoulder. Don’t tell anyone, it was because my dad had died when I was 11, and had been a skinny buck toothed kid who got bullied in elementary school. My wife met me by the time I had transformed myself by lifting weights, and developing decent confidence. ;)

@@Lukas_Schanderl being a teenager, in the 80s, and a college student in the late 80s, early 90s, was a lot of fun. The music, the movies, the house parties; and growing up on a border town (El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico) was a teen age dream! I was a 15 year old, dressing up to take my 16 year old girlfriend to nice dinners across the border, then to awesome discotheques, and bars, all of the American kids would congregate at. I felt like John Travolta, and Antonio Montana, sitting in a VIP area only because I tipped a guy $10! By the time I was 18, I needed a break from the fun! 🤩

Thank you, your channel really helps me on how to dress more classy and elegant. And one more thing, what brands do you recommend for a teen like me who like that kind of style and like to dress up? And I think if you will make a video about you reviewing and ranking your subscribers outfits will be really cool
@Lukas_Schanderl7 ай бұрын
Thank you :) I really appreciate it. I would actually recommend to start with second hand items, because they are very affordable and often in perfect condition. Easy and affordable way to get going. I have a video on the best quiet luxury brands and a full list of the brands is below the video or on my blog. But if you are more interested in new clothes, then affordable options would be Gutteridge, John Henric, Spier & Mackay (Especially on sale), Charles Thyrwhitt (3 shirts for $99), or even Banana Republic and Massimo Dutti at times.
@roymevo25657 ай бұрын
@@Lukas_Schanderl is the second hand items in eBay legitimate and original?
@Lukas_Schanderl7 ай бұрын
I would say it depends. In most cases, it is legitimate. But with some more known brands, e.g. gucci, prada or sometimes even Hugo Boss, there may be some fakes, but most of them should be real. Do you have Vinted in your country? If something seems too good to be true and if you get a weird feeling when you're communicating with the seller, I would stay away from it. I usually ask the seller questions regarding the measurements and depending on how they answer, I trust my gut feeling a bit.

I'd love to just casually look at outfits through KZbin. If you could recommend more channels that were your inspiration that'd be great!
@Lukas_Schanderl7 ай бұрын
Thank you :) I would say on KZbin, the only channel I can think of, that consistently shows great outfits is He Spoke Style. On Instagram I follow a lot of accounts that are very good at combining outfits, but on KZbin it's a bit more tricky to find.
