@@trashtvinternational That may very well be so, but the panomaric shot are simply breathtaking. We have become accustomed to seeing satellite photos, geographical documentaries and such. But in 1913 planes had only been invented 10 years earlier. Just imagine how it must have felt seeing the world from above for the very first time in your entire life. The movie certainly captures this to perfection.

Well, this one has me in tears. Back in 1973, Michelle - the love of my life - and I did this FOR REAL. But we flew across North America {& back} in our 1929 Gipsy Moth.. We've been in love from the day we met and have now been together for 56+ years. We both still fly, and Michelle has flown her own 1929-style, open-cockpit "Pietenpol Aircamper" for 45 of those years. And while we also did the "hand-holding" in the Gipsy Moth, we've come to learn that the greatest expression of our love happens when BOTH of us are flying our OWN airplanes in close formation. There is something about seeing the person you love flying free and in control of their own destiny across these gorgeous aerial vistas that is unlike anything else we've ever experienced. And despite being a few feet apart, we never feel closer... 💞

How grand the love of flying, each independent yet connected. I've flown numerous times in small planes, but never actually piloted any. The freedom is amazing. Did teach my wife to ride a motorcycle. I bought one and said this is yours. She was 40 at the time. She taught my sister. We rode everywhere. Though not a plane, the freedom and independence is similar. What a grand jester of life you too have. Be always in the air. Also, a great movie. Read all her books and short stories.

Wife and I went to Masai Mara in 1986, on an el-cheapo safari. We slept in an army pup tent for two. We went to Lake Nakuru, which I think is the place the plane flew over. Flamingos and pelicans everywhere. Beautiful.

Just curious, did you have a guide or were you just experienced in trekking around? I would love to do something like that someday.
@jelink223 жыл бұрын
@@AOMVideoProductions It was very informal. We had a couple of guys, all locals, who drove us around in vans and served as our guides. We set up tents ourselves, and our group of about 12 people had a great time together. Our meals were prepared right in front of us at our camps. That pup tent I mentioned protected us very well when a 12-hour storm hit! (I was an experienced trekker, but my wife was not. She loved the experience.). You should go for it---seeing literally hundreds of animals spread out in front of you is an unforgettable experience.

My friend who is Australian and stays at a ski lodge not far away from Meryls home. Gorgeous ! And as I watch this scene over and over again, I am amazed at how mediocre my day-to-day concerns are. I (and I believe that everyone) should be concerned about loving more and experiencing experiences that leave us breathless. I'm not talking about dating Meryl Streep/Robert Redford or flying a plane over the Kenyan plains - that reality won't be for many people. But it is possible to live a true love, beyond physical appearances and live incredible adventures, even if we don't know how to fly a plane.

Seemingly no one else has bothered to knowledge him recently and sadly it's not in the description either. John Barry, who composed 11 James Bond scores, among many other things, made the music for this great film. I read the whole description, pretty sure. Not a word, aside from "original score". That would be a good place in which to insert, I duno, his name.?!?!?..That's really messed up. It would not have won 7 academy awards without his music...

Look closely and you will notice Redford hands Streep a pair of goggles twice at the beginning - once before she gets in the plane and again when she is in the cockpit. There's also a shot of them in the cockpit maybe 20-40 metres above the ground, which is followed by the a shot where the plane has barely lifted off the ground.
