This is what they should have instead of awards shows where they pass out bowling trophies. Waylon hated them. This is the roots of country music in a nutshell. People playing their instruments and having fun. That’s what it’s all about.

When he refers to him as an, "ol funny boy", Waylon, meant that he had all the wrong kind of thoughts/additude towards the way, is country folks think...... They don't find any humor in hardly anything, and probably carried a sour additude, as well.....
@gigirobbin5340 Жыл бұрын
Just so, you know I put a bit more thought into the term, "old funny boy", and it could relate to them mixed up pronouns, we have going around, nowadays!!

The fact that Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Kris, and Hank Jr. were all friends, recorded together, did TV specials together tells you they were the genuine article. Country music from the heart.
@jerrycohen83854 жыл бұрын
Right on.... And when Jr. had the fall off the mountain, Johnny and June were at his bedside most of the time. I may be mistaken, but I believe they were his Godparents, or something like that to Hank Jr. But either way, they ALL wrote great songs and they recorded each other's songs. However , I can't think of any that Kris recorded, except the songs he wrote. If someone knows if that's right or wrong, I would appreciate a response or answer to that. They ALL WROTE GREAT SONGS! And I am proud to have lived in these years I have, bc of all their songs and while they were alive and kicking. And I am still wondering like George Jones sang, "whose gonna FILL THEIR SHOES?" I Honestly don't BELIEVE they can be filled.
@DannyLeeOGT10 ай бұрын
@@jerrycohen8385 June Carter cash was indeed ain't Williams junior Randall. his godmother. and Waylon was at the end of that bed with June and Johnny!!! Also, when Hank Junior won his very first award, it was for the video of all of my. ready friends are coming over. when he come out on stage, he said. Well, thank you all for being here. He said this is nice now, but I never thought I would win a video award. He said I do a little audio too.
@DannyLeeOGT10 ай бұрын
And to no one's surprise when they called Hank's name out for the award. standing behind the curtain was the highwaymen. and June Carter cash. I beat Jersey colture as well. Well, I have a youtube channel. I live in North Carolina. I am uh, right outside of the Appalachian Mountain chain. just east of Dale Earnhardtville and just north of Rick Flairville. The Allman Brothers. Grand Funk Railroad. The Outlaws. and the Marshall Tucker band. 38 special too. Sorry. These bands were notorious for touring with the same artist you just named. because back then Country and Rock and roll and Blues were not a big difference, except for how they played their instruments. I have been doing what I first labeled outlaw country reactions. Now I have just been calling them forbidden country. We have done everybody from Reba Mcentire to the judds, Alan Jackson, Waylon Willie, Hank Jr and Sr, Sturgill Simpson And many more. Ohh yeah. Coward of the county. Yeah, a lot of them. Now I have a lot of rock and roll, and I have a lot of well, just every year on the genre, you can think of. all of those videos do well. The country reactions, however, have not found the right crowd. Basically, all of you in these comments, but I don't like to spam videos like this. Both of your comments made it hard to resist. You'll know that I'm not a scam or a piece of spam cooked in a cast iron frying pan. I don't know what this other spam. is. LOL no, you know, I'm really from the South. but not really. All you gotta do is click on my profile picture there. My partner is a 80s metal guy so. he never knew anything about country other than well, the stuff that comes on the radio now that is supposed to be what they played then we all. know unless we're lying that it's not. LOL. anyway, he reacts and I just react to his reactions. So it's not disingenuous. We just recently done Elvis Ray Charles and Willie Nelson doing seven Spanish Angels. I've done the whole documentary on Neil Young doing Southern man and Lynyrd Skynyrd doing sweet home Alabama. So there might be some things there. You guys would be interested in or girls. It's maybe girls. I don't know. I didn't look at the name that close. I would just really love to get the videos out there to the people who would really like to see this music still like what you're saying. Cause there aren't a lot of people reacting to these songs because most everyone has heard them. are the people who appreciate them are gone. are no longer with us or. don't really know how to work KZbin. Now watch the great documentary on muscle shoals the other day. Thank you for your time to read this.
@DannyLeeOGT10 ай бұрын
@@jerrycohen8385 We have done that reaction as well to who's gonna feel their shoes. And I do ask that same question. I also asked people, are the good times really over for good? Like Merle Haggard said, cause this vein does seem to be a snowball rolling downhill, like it's headed for hill. I think Sturgill Simpson has done a good job. and if you have never heard that name, if you have, I apologize. But if you haven't, that's probably typical. And what I mean by that is the country music scene will not play him on any radio station in the United States of America. He doesn't get belligerent. He doesn't really cuss bad. He doesn't sing about very violent things or taboo things. He's simply saying he's like the outlaws. You know, a lot of people say he is the closest thing to a New Waylon Jennings. I will send a link to a couple of his songs that they do back to back. I don't want to send a link to my channel because again, all you got to do is hit that. or type in Danny Lee. OGT. either way. Thank you all. I'm going to send that link to Sturgill Simpson.

I miss Waylon. His brother James and wife Helen have a liquor store in Littlefield named waymores. I know them. Never met Waylon. Their liquor store has a room that displays their memorabilia of Waylon. It was their old service gas station. I remember getting gas there and having the guy pump the gas and clean the windshield. But when Waylon passed they turned it into the liquor store. Corner of Hall and Waylon Jennings blvd in Littlefield Texas. Go see them and their memories of Waylon.

I live in Denison. I drove out there to see it and other things. James drove me around Littlefield and showed me where they played and worked and lived etc. I actually donated my autographed tour book to it and I made two welcome signs that look like Waylon’s guitars. James is a funny guy.
