Hey, he specifically said Voyager, that's important. If he hadn't said that, there'd be three times as many episodes on TNG alone, Voyager's just too bland to be controversial often. When you know it's Voyager, it's either Threshold, or the Very Special Episode about how hypnotists are giving people false memories that reads like an MRA screed about false rape accusations, or the one about how Native Americans had literally no culture before they were given one by aliens from space. In that episode Pat brings up, they didn't clone Harry Kim. There was a spacial anomaly in which the entire ship was split into two tangential realities. So neither ship is the original or a copy. By the end of the episode, one of the Voyagers gets destroyed and the other escapes, however, he Harry Kim from the ship that stays together is killed and the Harry Kim from the one that gets destroyed switches ships and survives. So... yeah, it's not the same Harry, but neither is it really a clone. He's has had all the same memories and experiences as the other Harry up until the moment the ship split. I will say, I feel like Pat overstates the Harry clone thing because basically what happened was that ALL of voyager got cloned due to anomaly reasons and one ship was getting super fucked up while the other one was mostly fine. Harry and the baby that gets born on Voyager die on the fine one but survive on the fucked one and the fucked up one beams the two over before the ship explodes.
@posindustries8 ай бұрын
To clarify, because this gets misunderstood a lot, but both Harrys are the original Harry. Voyager got split into two Voyagers simultaneously, but one Voyager lost its Harry and the other had to sacrifice itself to save the first Voyager, so they sent their Harry over before self-destructing. It's a zany premise but Harry is just as much the real deal as the rest of them are to him.

@SeruraRenge118 ай бұрын
Not true, if you watch DS9 knowing he's an augment, there's actually a ton of little moments that make you go "wait a minute, is Bashir hiding is capabilites from everyone?" Which is even crazier when you consider that this was a last-second writing decision for the season that made Alex Siddig upset because he said he would've portrayed Bashir differently if he had known the whole time that he was a hidden augment.
@cyberninjazero56598 ай бұрын
@@SeruraRenge11 It is true, that's why they augmented him as a child, and hid it. IIRC Bashir's dad ends up going to prison over the whole thing getting exposed

Remember that time on star trek enterprise when they showed the scene from first contact in season 4 and instead of doing the proper vulcan gesture cochram takes out a gun and shoots the vulcans and takes the ship and suprise !!! Its the origin of the mirror universe, and we see captain archer and his evil crew find a original series constitution class ship that actually went missing in canon and cause they have technology from the future , thats how they were able to conquer as much as they did , its a really good episode even if u hate enterprise , like remember the time archer and the comic relief doctor sided with eugenics and genocide for the menk?

Pat's face after mentioning the planet of violent black people is the most perfect shit eating grin. Misleading, yet accurate descriptions of Star Trek episodes are so much fun regardless of whether they are good or bad. Remember when Frank Sinatra was the Love-matic Grandpa?

I wouldn't even say that the Ligonians were violent, just really sexist. And it mainly came across as racist because of the director's decision to make everyone in that society as black and look like they're wearing tribal outfits, when they were written as like lizard people with a Bushido-like code.
@manjackson27728 ай бұрын
@@SeruraRenge11 OK so here's the thing. The same writer wrote Emancipation for SG-1, which is the same script, and that one was also racist and sexist as hell. So either she got really unlucky, or she had some input on the process here.

@@manjackson2772 Unpopular opinion: While "Code of Honor" is terrible, it's not at the same level of terribleness as, say, "Threshold" or "Sub Rosa". What truly makes "Code of Honor" terrible is the decision made, at production time, to cast all African-American actors as the Ligonians. Without that, it's a poorly-executed Mars Needs Women plot that relies too heavily on "Amok Time" for its resolution - a bad script, but a coherent one. Compared to something like the others, where even just the script leaves you asking "what the hell did I just read?" and it is clear that "Code"'s trouble lies mostly in its execution rather than its conception.

And the episode with Spiderlord Barclay And the one where the Enterprise is a train And the one about how warp drives are bad for the universe in a really contrived environmentalist message And the one with Picard's "son" And the one with Worf's brother which has a really confusing message about the PD And the REALLY preachy Native American episode where Picard is supposed to feel guilty for something that happened like 700 years ago and that's why he can't do the right thing NOW And the second half of that fucking terrible 2-parter Descent that is probably the worst way to cap off the Data/Lore arc on top of being imo the true start of the Borg looking pathetic, not Voyager Yeah, we got stuff like AGT, Parallels, Lower Decks, The Pegasus, and the Gambit 2-parter, but goddamn did s7 make it clear they were running out of ideas.

I know there were problems with how she was written but I can't not love Janeway. Yeah, she's inconsistent depending on the writers, but still at least a third of the time she's got a straightforward no bullshit kind of approach that gives me Granny Weatherwax vibes. I love it when a character is given a contrived pseudo-philosophical quandary like it's a gotcha question and their response is to brute force their own answer because they don't respect the question.
