The annotations and old footage with the tone and inflection of the narrator really held my attention.

Don't stop making these videos! Really informative. Would be nice if you also improved voice audio quality and slightly lower music.

Excellent explanation of the difference between diesel and petrol engines. Great video, Science, Engineering and History combined in one story . Keep up the excellent work. I prefer petrol engines by the way. Love the sound of a V8. Also the whine of a Supercharger

Otto cycle engines are better for racing and for people who don't like the "noise" Diesel engines make. Gasoline is also good for small but powerful 2-stroke engines, like chainsaw engines. For anything else, Diesel is better.

And we thought the performance curves and characteristics were the end all to know what the Diesel was all about. Thank you for opening our eyes perspective on Diesel, makes a difference of sense.

it was the aural subsystem of content delivery which made it palatable and absorbable to the mind

Very good, but I expected to see more from the point of view of railway, shipping and trucking industries. The short technical explanation was extremely well done.

I watched the rotary vid which led me to the flat engine vid which led me here and this concluded with a sub. good vids. I miss the days when the lmp cars were running diesels

Minus the effect on emissions which I am not an expert, on for every day driving and for everyday people the modern turbo diesels is by far better than any gasoline engine. Reliability, gas mileage, low end torque...... No comparison

So can you explain why diesel engines use diesel fuel? Can't they run on gasoline? Any fuel should have its own auto-ignition point.
@GearQuest4 жыл бұрын
Diesel fuel is heavier than gasoline (because it’s made up of large molecules). It atomizes differently due to a different density and viscosity. And its flash point and autoignition temperatures are significantly higher. And given these, the converse can also be applied. Gasoline is lighter and flashes at a lower temperature than diesel. These differences in physical properties are what cause problems in engines and fuel systems when you put in fuel that isn't supposed to be there. Gasoline contamination can also damage the fuel pump and mess up diesel injectors. This happens because of a drop in lubrication. Simply speaking, gasoline is a solvent while diesel is an oil. Diesel has enough lubricity to lubricate the fuel pumps and the injectors.

Put the music on one side of the stereo and the monolog on the other side. That way the music and be turned down so we can understand the voice.

Thanks for the feedback 🙏🏼 That was one of my first vids I ever made and didn’t know much about editing and sound at the time. I have lots to learn 😀

Great content!! I am in the possession both types of cars: one with a diesel engine and one with an Otto cycle engine. I personally like the diesel engine car more when I'm due to travel long distances as it seems to handle tiring long distance travel better than the combustion engine car. However, I like the way a petrol engine car handles in the city as it seems to be more nimble and handles better the city brownian traffic :)))
