HEY! I'm a Yamaha tech. The SHO offers a different ignition timing and engine tune to provide more horsepower at high RPM's, but with a little less torque on the lower rpm range . SHO engines can have up to 10% more horsepower at max RPM. SHO's are meant for light boats that go fast. I think you will be very happy with your choice :)
@The.Norwegian3 жыл бұрын
The entire engine, aside from the tuning, is the same as the regular F90

Kaplan’s is the best. Years ago when nobody had motors I went to him in San Rafael. He had a mountain stacked to the warehouse ceiling of new Yamahas.
@andyc70743 жыл бұрын
You probably already know this but, keep an eye on your oil level especially during break in and thereafter. I don't own a SHO, but I have a 2019 250XCA and you want to watch for the engine making oil. I don't know if you want to idle much during the break in period. Further in the break in if the engine doesn't get up to temp and the rings don't seat you could experience fuel passing the rings causing the engine to "make oil". I am not 100 percent sure is this is a much as an issue with the lower hp yamaha 4 strokes (under 200) , but I guess its fairly common with Yamahas if they are not run hard enough and broken in properly. Just something to keep an eye on.
