So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and parish of Snowshill which is a civil parish located near Broadway in the county of Gloucestershire, England. In 2011 the village had a population of just over 160. The Post town for Snowshill is Broadway.
Snowshill is well know for it's manor house and a large lavender farm.
The parish church is dedicated to St Barnabas. The church was rebuilt in 1864.
There are no hidden OAAW logos in this video.
Approach churchyard : 09:20
Exit Churchyard : 16:14
Thanks for walking with me.

I cannot tell you how much I needed this beautiful peace & serenity today. It's our Memorial weekend & I did spend yesterday at an antique market in the morning & the beach all afternoon & evening but it's crazy with the tourist & all the traffic & noise plus the heat!!! This was a beautiful, lovely, peaceful & soothing walk. The birds singing is music to the soul. Thank you my friend for this walk. I can't wait to get over there to see it first hand but I want you to know how much I deeply appreciate these walks & it means so much to me & I know many others as well. They are a part of something inside that yearns to be seen & until that happens in person, you are providing that. Thank you doesn't seem enough but thank you so very much. ❤❤❤

Snowshill is is one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds, in my humble opinion. It has everything, from the gorgeous (old) houses and lovely lanes to the lush surrounding countryside. I love how the people who live there, take such good care of their gardens. They obviously put a lot of love care into it. It is a wonderful tranquil walk, thank you for this 😊

The walk, the beautiful peaceful countryside always remind me of the stories I read when I was young especially Enid Blyton stories. I always remember the description of the flowers, fairies and the adventures. I simply adore all your walks ..as if I was in one of the story especially the book The Enchanted Wood. By the way, I never been to Britain before and so all your videos actually open my mind to the beauty of the countryside.

With some videos I know within the first few seconds that I will be tapping the “save” icon, to make them readily accessible for rewatching, and this was such a one. I do so love these walks that begin at the dawn of day, when the world is so fresh! Just the variety of bird sounds alone is amazing. I often wish that my bird sound ID app and KZbin could be used concurrently, so that I could know what types of birds I am hearing. (Sometime perhaps I can have someone else with the bird ID app try this out with me, to see how it goes). I enjoyed hearing the sheep greeting the new day, too; they undoubtedly were waiting for breakfast to be served. :) The mix of village scenes with countryside was very nice- the best of both worlds. It is interesting to me that though the houses/buildings in these Cotswold villages are nearly all the same color (brownish or grayish stone), with similar color roofs/trim, they each look unique and interesting, and never boring. The part closer to the end where you were walking in shade alongside a wooded area but could see the sun on the hillside ahead was delightful- conveyed a sense of the approaching day. I noticed some of the trees towards the end were still bare. Are they just not leafed out yet, or were they dead wood? I just wondered, as many Ash trees around here- unfortunately- were victims of the ash borer parasite. I hope that was not the case with these. Anyway, this was a really pleasant walk, and was a great way to start our Memorial Day holiday over here in the US. Thank you!

Hi Janet. Hope you are OK and Mr Ryan is recovering well. Thank you for your lovely comment. That is good to know you have 'bagged' another favourite walk :) Walking off into the countryside seemed to make for a nice way to bring the walk to a gradual close. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the trees have died off although it does seem a bit late in the year to not even have some signs of leafage on t branches. I am today thinking of all those who lost their lives while serving in the U.S Military and also the bereaved loved ones and families of the service personal. Sending you both my very best wishes. OAAW

@@OutandaboutWalking I, too, am thinking of all those men and women of our country 🇺🇸 who made the ultimate sacrifice- and of their family members who mourn their loss. What a debt we owe to these heroes! I am grateful not only for my dad’s military service, but also that he instilled in me an appreciation for all who served in any capacity. Many veterans over here wear caps that say “Veteran of _______” (with the blank getting filled in with whatever war or branch of service the veteran was in). My dad wore one with “WWII”, and he felt so proud and happy when other people came up to thank him for serving. He is now gone, but I always go up to anyone I see wearing a similar type of cap and thank them, telling them how much their service means. I have yet to meet anyone who wasn’t happy to be acknowledged in this way. Thanks for your thoughts for them, and we think with respect of those in the UK 🇬🇧 who made similar sacrifices. Have a great week. :)

Hail to Snowshill! Our 5th visit. I remember her so well: windows at odd levels, cat that came up to us, me son's initials on house at corner adjacent the diskos fence yet... you took me finally down the cobblestone way and fields beyond, delightful! I say, the birds are wordier than usual, wish I knew what the excitement was all about. But what made me 😁 was the incognito bleating, sheepzies have such precious voices. Yep, me saw SQUIRREL! Spring dressed and perfumed this village nicely. Twas fun indeed SirR🦝. Maybe next time we can keep going after that last step-gate. Might find the sheep or another micro-waterfall. Hip hip, cherrio, me day is better for taking a walk withya!!

Good day, L.J. How are you? 5 times? I must admit, I have lost count now but I did not realise it was that many times. So, I wonder if out of all the villages is Snowshill the most visited village so far? Going back there is like visiting an old friend...always glad to see you :) After the stile (at the end) there is a pleasant walk from there through open fields leading to a road which leads back to the village. Unfortunately tho, as I didn't have appropriate footwear, it was a no go, speaking of which, I should have had appropriate footwear yesterday as I took a very big tumble and which was all caught on camera! And I won't be cutting it out from the footage 😀 Where was our dear friend Mr Squirrel 🤔. Many thanks for your time on this walk. S R :)

@@OutandaboutWalking Hello, I’ve come back today to watch this yet again, falling into a wonderful nap to be honest, and I see your comment and question. Yes, it's been rather warm with three-digit weather here already in May. The problem with such warm weather comes at night if little relief; therefore, day/night after day/night the heat is compounded. Many houses are built with wood, even if bricked, thereby absorbing that heat. At least we do not have the humidity; so, the heat is not horrible if one stays hydrated and time is not outdoors all day, which means that we don’t have rain very often at all nor the color green unless forced. I wonder if those of you in the UK (England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland, how could I have forgotten Scotland! my own heritage!) ever have need of water hoses. (ha) Your patch of earth is so very lovely, not flat and not yellowed, then add in the history and your use of the camera and sound making your videos calming and a blessing especially in the world we live. I’ll add; if you should see this, are those trails cobbled intentionally with rocks in modern time? Again, thank you for sharing your walks in your part of the world and a lovely area at that.
@OutandaboutWalking
@OutandaboutWalking Ай бұрын
@kathrynw6373 Hi Kathryn. Good to hear from you. During the summer months hoses are often used but in times of prolonged heat, hose pipe bans can come into force and if anyone is caught using a hose pipe in an area which hoses are banned, the person using the hose can receive a hefty fine. Regarding the cobbled road, if it was the one where I went down the slope, then my guess it was cobbled for farm machinery to use the access road. Keep hydrated and cool. All the best to you. OAAW

Hi Sandra. It is an honour for me knowing that this channel is one of your favourites. Regarding the ads (which have been running for the past 14 months), sadly the reality is that the commercials are a necessity for this channel to continue to exist. As you can probably imagine these videos take a lot of time, effort and money to produce. I do sympathise tho because not everyone is able to afford YTP. Maybe YT should look at creating a reduced price pack in which ads are removed but the option for downloading is not enabled, thus making it cheaper for the viewer. I am grateful for all the love & support you have given this channel since you found it. All the best to you. OAAW.
