The flies must be like a slow form of torture but you both persevere to make the best of a very good patch of gold. You deserve every little piece of gold that you find for the hard work that it takes to find it and dig it out of the ground.

A little hint to swat the flies around your head and keep them from landing. Cut off a small branch of a bush or weed with a lot of leaves on it. It gives you a wider area when you swing it around your face. My mom showed me this when we used to have mosquitos and biting deer flies in the bush. Awesome finds . It's about time you cashed in . I think the only reason i would leave that place is if the food and water supply run out, im wondering what those flies do when theres no humans to land on, I can imagine them all just waiting outside your camper in the mornings waiting for you to step out, then one of them rings the dinner bell. The Chrissy and Clint feed bank. I think I would be tempted to do night time hunts, just to avoid them. Im glad you've found such an excellent area to detect, and I hope it just keeps getting better! We usually get up before sunrise and can hear the flies hitting the canvas on the camper trailer trying to get inside. Absolutely insane and cooking or eating is impossible until way after sunset.

Fantastic, my best day was 64 pieces for 21grams, but best of all, they were in an area three square meters. Next morning i got 15 for 16grams within 4 meters area best being 5grams. That was three years back. I am coming out of retirement thanks to you, move over, i will be back over in a month.👍😁

Another fantastic day detecting, those flies are just insane, it makes you wonder where they come from, without you there what do they eat. the horse flies over here seem to have died of with the cooler nights, still getting small bits out of the sleush but they don't pay the fuel bill at all, I am thinking I might buy a smelter just to see what all the specks add up to in one bit, we shall see, have a good day. Where do the flies come from?....thier larva usually have to consume something dead or livestock waste etc. to turn into flies.....where could they possibly do that to get those numbers?.....its mind boggling, the numbers of them is insane

Hello, l had the same problem with flies in Alaska. If you use a dryer fabric sheet pin to your clothes, it would keep them away. Also, it's good for masceidos.

It might be a daft, and cumbersome, idea, but is there any way you could improvise portable smudge pots ( cans and wire hangers ) and carry them with you to set down where you're digging ? Replenish the smouldering stuff now and again, top up with found twigs etc ? Any spills easily contained and managed safely.

Hi Krissy. After watching half of the vid even with the chains I think you are still going kind of willy-nilly and leaving some gold behind. I am a member of the Ring finders so when I am looking for a lost piece of jewelry say on the beach or a park, I cannot afford to miss one square foot so I use what I call a two cone system, using small soccer cones. If interested I can give you a short description of how I do it.

You should get the cheapest fly spray and let them have it, that’s what I do, it thins them out! 😃
