I think you guys possibly nailed it! Question 1: can you still fit an oem or sw main stand? Question 2: will it fit the 2022 model? So far i have heared the frame is the same but smaller radiator now. Please look into this si nce the new model seems improved and sell like hotcakes.

I just purchased a 2023 CB500X & love these crash bars - I know the 2022 & 2023 are supposed to be the same but when one is spending money one must be sure - so will these crash bars fit my 2023 ????
@tomonabudget3 жыл бұрын
The bashplate design looks great! A far better layout than my Rally Raid + Givi crashbar combination that creates a lot of leverage on the lower front engine bolts, causing them to snap.... a lot. Access to the oil filter is nicer too. Is the oil drain bolt accessible without removing the bashplate? Can you fit a centre stand on this bike with the bashplate installed? The 2 points above make me really bitter about the expensive RR plate on my 2016 - 500x. The luggage rack? Hmmmmmmmm. It's got the same thing I complain about most modern adventure bike pannier racks. It's ridiculously wide. If you made it narrower, you could add some triangulation off the pannier rack to the top carrier, making it so much stronger than just relying on these long tubes. This layout is the reason Givi only have a 6kg rating on their rack as that thing sags down way to easy. Once I added bracing off my DIY pannier racks, it's now strong enough that I can jump on the top carrier without it flexing. - The exhaust protection is a well thought out touch.
@Outbackmotortek3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The oil drain plug is accessible. The rack is actually not wide, only 50cm/19.6”! We tried to keep it as narrow as possible. Had it not been for that awkward exhaust muffler, we could have made it even narrower.
@tomonabudget3 жыл бұрын
@@Outbackmotortek I guess it's to fit some panniers that go too far down, or maybe the new exhaust is just that much higher than the 2016 model. The drain plug access is great! Making it that much easier to work on the 500x.

@djpalme- what you mean that bolts are snapping. Why it is like that? Can you share pic?
@tomonabudget3 жыл бұрын
@@marissteins6878 Look up snapped bolt on the CB500x riders group on Facebook and you'll find a few posts. It's pretty common that they snap when installing crash bars. It's due to the length of the bolt, difficulty to tighten properly as it binds up and that it's subject to shock loading as well as engine vibrations (that spot vibrates a lot when cruising and os the reason many crash bars humm). The common fix for this is to drill out the threads in the engine and use a nut on the other end. You'll see what I mean when you find those posts.

These look great: I just received my 2022 500x and plan to purchase soon. What’s the reasoning for the asymmetrical design when the exhaust is well below the racks? I’d wait for a symmetrical version if they might be offered.
@Outbackmotortek2 жыл бұрын
We were tempted to develop symmetrical pannier racks, but they would have been ridiculously wide. Most customers would have been put off by the look of it, especially with panniers mounted on them.
@smallfact0ry2 жыл бұрын
@@Outbackmotortekahh, ok. So there’s no way to bring in the rack on the exhaust side, to match the opposite (non-exhaust) side then. I see.

@@smallfact0ry yes, but it would most likely melt soft panniers due to being completely in line with the muffler.

Thanks for the video, just a quick question on the panniers. Is it possible to fit a Rotopax on the non-exhaust side but on the inside so between the panniers and the bike itself? and a Mosko moto backcountry to the outside? if so, is it still easy to access since that side has less room? Or would it be better to mount the rotopax on the exhaust side, would the heatsheild protect the rotopax from heating up? Thanks again.
