maybe think about building a DIY test tank tank that you could tilt the motors up and then slide your motors and stands up to for testing. a tank thathat would fit between the legs. maybe a wood tank that you could drop a tall plastic garbage can in . the wood frame keeps the garbage can or tank from bowing out. well you get the idea anyway. great video GREAT STANDS THANKS !!!

Much cleaner than any I have seen, in wood. To really make it strong, get some Strong Tie mending plates at the HD, and use them to cover edges where the screws or nails are in tension. That way they could carry even more load, if that was in the cards. I did that on my covered motor shed.
@tacticalskiffs8134 Жыл бұрын
I think I would also notch in the "transom" less. It looks nicer balanced in the middle, but the more one can move the engine in towards the wheels the better. I might not go all the way in, Maybe leave a 3/4" of meat on the open side rather than centering the transom piece.

A great stand indeed but the 15 deg angle serves no function. The backward angle moves engine weight backwards making the stand more unstable but l guest it doesn't matter with small enjnes. I had the same situation and l converted it back to vertical. Thnx for the vids.

The angle serves a function for me. It allows the motor to sit properly and let’s me nest them better in the group.

🌴 So I need to build an engine stand for my 1977 Johnson 15 hp , but it’s got to be wide enough to be able to put a trash can to fill with water to test the engine , I might use bigger wheels like 3” , thought about using 4” inch square posts and two by fours with a 2by 6 to clamp the motor to , I think ya got the height right, don’t see anyone selling engine stands 😕

WHAT MEASURMENTS FOR 50HP MERCURY 2 STROKE FOR A PONTOON DOOR
@danielrobert71814 жыл бұрын
Neat design but for all of us that don't have a winch, position the "transom" piece higher and have it protrude the (accordingly shorten) side pieces by a few inches This way, you'll be able to slide the motor on the stand from the side and not having to lift it those final 6 inches that are back killers. Using plain wood that you'll varnish will waterproof the stand and prevent grease staining. Stay safe and be merry !
