You should look into finding a diesel rated primer bulb. They have a one way valve on each side of the bulb that can be taken apart and cleaned or parts replaced in it and they come with a built in filter than can also be taken apart and cleaned plus one model even comes with a magnet built into it on the suction side to trap any steel dust, rust and crap that may be in your main or tote tank. Handles petrol just fine.

Not sure if there is a small drain hole in the bulb on my boat but if it is not used for a long time the fuel drains out yet it works great once pumped up again.

That's not good. I would replace it. If it leaks gas it can suck air on a 2 stroke.

some say to hold bulb straight arrow up as you pump it and that Yamaha bulbs last longer.

My primer bulb works but my fuel line has a crack behind the clamp- if I cut then fuel line is too short, what can I do ?

I installed a new one and once I squeeze the primer bulb it struggled to re inflate with anything, what do think the issue may be.

@@robertlawson1184 I have twins so 2 primer bulbs and on one I disconnected the line going to the motor and pumped virticle and it came out but when I put the line going to the engine back in it’s not getting hard

@@free_diver1641 that means your fittings on the pump that connects to the fuel tank to your motor are bad. You may also want to replace the fitting on the fuel tank itself; my problem was of the fittings and a bad prime pump. Now it’s rock hard after three pumps. It’s leaking somewhere in between the fittings somewhere so replace it all if its a few years old. It may still look nice and good outside, but dont believe it!

How to I get all the air out of the line when I buy a new gas tank?

I sometimes take the hose off all the way up at the carb and squeeze the bulb until gas runs out the end. It's never really needed. I just pump the prime bulb until it's firm and the boat runs fine.

@@MattsShop thanks….i just plugged it in and it worked perfectly….not sure how this is possible because I know for sure the lower part of the line below the bulb was empty….

I just added new fuel line. Used my old bulb which worked perfect. Now my bulb will not pump up at all I've tried everything?
