Wish a Severe Thunderstorm Emergency can be help and used by the National Weather Service for Hail sized as 4 inch or higher and Winds higher more 80 mph for today for enhanced vision of a severe thunderstorm warning, just like a Tornado Emergency (enhanced version of a tornado warning), is issued for a confirmed, large and destructive tornado for producing catastrophic damage and hitting populated areas in seconds. Great EAS Scenario!
@MasenMonster3 жыл бұрын
It is a real alert. Just very rarely used.
@619xnomo2 жыл бұрын
@@MasenMonster no, the alert was an improvised statement issued by The National Weather Service in Cheyanne, when a catastrophic severe thunderstorm was producing consistent hail reaching three inches if not larger over an area. other than that, offices can not issue severe thunderstorm emergencies, as they literally can not be issued unless an SVS is declared.

@ultratoughscene2 жыл бұрын
The highest the NWS goes to is 4.5 inches (Softball). There isn't really a PDS SVR-E. But there is such thing as a SVR-E en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_thunderstorm_warning if you scroll to the bottom of that link.

As a Wyomingite, I gotta ask. Do you guys down in CO actually run the sirens for "Severe Thunderstorm Warnings"? Or is that just for dramatic effect? I've never heard the sirens for anything outside Flash Flood and Tornado warnings. I've heard they're used for Wildfires as well but have never experienced it personally. Never even heard of it for severe t-storms though.
@ultratoughscene9 ай бұрын
Idk about the rest of Colorado, but apparently, as of today, Denver is starting to use their sirens for all hazards, so they could use them for severe thunderstorms. In this video though, the sirens were just for dramatic effect.
@kotandkotik9 ай бұрын
@@ultratoughscene Thank you so much for answering, and swiftly too! I appreciate it ^^ I'll have to look more into that because, to me, that's a really interesting decision for them to make ^^; (My Wyoming brain just jumps to "Colorado, you're weird." pffft)
