This build was abit expensive to min max. Dumped all my leftover currency from 3.13 into it and all I can say is it way OP. In sense of damage, I can clear most boss fights in a few seconds. Even maven phases last no more then 3-5 seconds each. Once I hit lvl 100 I switched to this build and I'm glad because it's a step above being a glass cannon. Slightly better but not by much. Would recommend if you're looking for pure damage. Hope this helps :)

@@tmoont If you watch the guide, most of the base damage of the skill comes from Battlemage+dagger. Nerfing the base damage of the skill does almost nothing.

Can recommend it, I played BB in Mayhem with a Chieftain without an Explode chest and it was already strong and fun as hell. It's also easy to implement stuff like onslaught and rampage in the build because you won't need many mandatory items - depending on how hard the nerfs will hit of course.

I have been looking at a wide variety of Bladefall/Blade Blast builds for my 3.14 league starter with a bossing focus: (TLDR at the bottom) All of my testing has been done with level 85 skill points allocated (or less sometimes, as my characters are 90+ so I remove life nodes to simulate actual level 85). All of my testing has been done with either a Tabula or a 5-link carcass jack. Rares were used to balance resist and add a realistic amount of life (50-70 raw life on gear). Weapons varied, but were all items that could be obtained early on, eg: +1 Physical Wands, % Life Recovered on Block Shield (for chieftain), Cold Iron Points, or in the case of this Inquisitor, Vulcanus (which I am not convinced will be a realistic item in 3.14, as they have skyrocketed to over 1ex in ritual) Cluster Jewels were not used for the most part, or if they were they were used sparingly and poorly rolled with only 1 good node. I was NOT using a glorious vanity in any of the builds, which most builds could have benefited from significantly, as they were 300c day 1 of ritual league, and still over 100c a week into the league. The following builds are ones that made it past the theory-crafting stage and actually were play-tested: **Fire Chieftain:** This build had the highest suitability of all the builds I tested. But some of the lowest damage. It felt fine for mapping, as Herald of Ash made the mob clear feel pretty nice. It was able to scrape out a very sketchy Hidden invitation on 4 portals. You should expect 3-4 bosses up at once with this build, as it is relatively low damage, but because of it's high life regen, nearly max block, and life leech it is able to survive through a lot of sh*t. Unfortunately, while it is super sturdy, I would argue it isn't the greatest for invitations because it doesn't burst targets down very well. Fun fact: This was the only build I tested that was able to complete Uber Elder with such budget gear, because of how survivable it was. However, the fight was like 7 minutes long, and the status of the floor near the end of the fight was an absolute cluster-f**k. **Cold Assassin:** This build was one of the best mappers of all the builds I tested. It was very similar in terms of damage to the fire chieftain, beating it out by a few %. But, because of assassin passives, and it's screen freezing potential, it felt very fast and very survivable with proactive defenses. Herald of ice was also very satisfying for clearing screens of mobs at a time. Unfortunately, because of it's relatively low hp and damage, while also being a dodge build, it was unable to complete the Hidden Invitation as it lacked both the single target to burst enemies down or the tankiness to outlast bosses. Fun fact: With a Blast-Freeze cluster jewel, this build was able to do 40-60% delirious maps quite comfortably. **Poison Assassin:** This build had some of the highest single target damage I had seen from these budget builds (roughly double that of cold assassin or fire chieftain, with all of its buffs running). It was able to complete the Hidden invitation quite comfortably on a few portals, as it's burst potential ensures you never have more than a couple enemies up at a time. It lacks the survivability that chieftain can boast. But, between dodge from phase acrobatics and elusive, as well its raw damage output it is pretty strong. Also, because it's a poison build, it lends itself quite well to Golden Rule/Maw of Conquest/Sextant abuse. Fun fact: This was the only build I tested that was able to complete the Maven fight on such budget gear, because of how much raw damage it had. However, it took 5 portals and with super budget gear it is not very consistent. **Fire Inquisitor:** This build had some very high damage as well, even a bit higher than poison assassin. It felt very nice for mapping, but since you don't need an incredible amount of damage for t16 maps, it did not outshine the proactive and reactive defences offered by the cold assassin, even with double the damage. Also, due to it's incredible fragility it was unable to complete the Hidden invitation. It has essentially no dodge and no block, so as soon as anything looked at me I would fall over instantly. Fun Fact: I attempted the hidden again, but this time with a glorious vanity. Even with a glorious vanity jewel (which would probably be unrealistic item to have day 1 of the league) boosting it's effective life pool by a considerable amount, this build was unable to complete the hidden in budget gear. *All builds play tested were able to complete Alched T16 Maps, White Shaper Guardians, the Regular Shaper Fight, and the Regular Elder Fight. **All Hidden attempts were 2-mod, blue invitations (with easy mods for the given build). ***All tests were conducted with Awakening Level 9 TL;DR Bladefall/Blade Blast in general is OP. -Fire Chieftain is tanky -Cold Assassin is an awesome mapper -Poison Assassin is a great budget bosser -Fire Inquisitor is squishy

Awesome build man, works like a charm, built it on standard, it's insane, from like 10c gear all the way to tens and hundreeds of ex's investment. Not the fastest but definetly very very strong. You should have waited for patch notes to show the build, now the nerf squad will gut it. And yeah, it has a lot of damage now and it can get 50% nerf and still be effective but GGG is on a roll with destroying builds right now (and the game in general), I would't be surprised if they change the Inquisitor ascendancy just to kill this build. Again, great work on the build and awesome presentation.

I personally wouldn't start this in ssf without the volconus. It's definitely strong without, but I'd rather league start the assassin or chieftain version of bf/bb, neither of which need a unique. I have a bad record getting uniques like this to drop when I need them, so I'm admittedly a bit jaded.

Some players need to quit the nerf paranoia, 99.9% of the time is completely unjustifiable. This build will survive typical nerfs no problem. The only way to hurt this build if they delete BF/BB and completely change Inquisitor.

This build should barely be effected by the nerfs. If the new explodey chest is supremely shitty and stacking is too hard or pointless, it might take a quality of life hit, but doing 20 times more damage than is reasonable rather than 30 times should have very little effect.

Tried this build now with some 1ex investment overall. The damage is definitely OP but the build feels rather squishy. At one point I included Flesh and Stone over Herald of Purity but still dying at more than an "OK" frequency... mostly played TR Pathfinder this league and maybe I'm just used to that super sturdiness, but in general I prefer builds that only die because of lag or major stupidity... but otherwise really don't. ;) So probably this is not for me :) great video though!

Tried this the damage is nuts and if you change the build slightly you can easily boost the defensive capabilities to very comfortable levels and you definitely dont need the explody chest.

I'm gonna echo Ducks there and advise people who are afraid this might get nerfed to the ground to do it now. You know those builds that can get you to red maps on trash/basic gear, like the typical summoner, TR Pathfinder/Trickster, Poison BV... this is just like those, but on steroids. I'm league start testing this on SSF and it's ridiculous what you can do virtually naked. Now, I don't think this will get nerfed, because Inquisitor is not meta in any way, and GGG has a history of nerfing shit that is meta, especially at league start. So BFBB may get some nerfs, but the ascendancy will probably be fine. But you never know, so just do it.

If it's your first character in a league then yes you will HAVE TO farm maps and upgrade you gear piece by piece. Decent league starter builds can actually "come together" way before finishing thier equipment just by means of skill gems and basic gear off the ground as long as it has some sockets and links and basic resists. The level of gear in the video is not NEEDED to enjoy the build but it makes mapping on higher levels much easier. Dont worry though; with Ultimatum starting soon, everyone will also be starting from zero and grinding for currency / items and you can make big money if you get through the campaign quickly.

cospris's assassin typically takes at least 50ex to just be decently playable. you will need to sink ~100ex to even match this build

Hello Sir ! IA couple of questions if I may: How do you deal with reflect ele/phys maps? On PoB Avatar of fire is taken at lvl 35 ish isnt that lowering the dps if you have added ele dmg on your gear? As far as I know 15% increased dmg isnt the same as 15% more dmg (17:42), one is % from what you have the other one multiplicative. Or am I wrong here ?

BigDucks thank you for this build for long time I wanted to test and play templar and this build made me do it. Build at beginning was difficult in my opinion but aftet i bought volcunus, glorius vanity and upgraded life it is easier but still realy hard for ultimatum:( im doing beginning maps and with 4k life 2400 es sometimes im one shot. Can you tell me how to fix my issue with mana when casting bladefall ? Does soul mender fixing it? I still dont have cluster jewel

try getting a mana flask that doesn't stop refilling when your mana is full so its always refilling mana while you are casting spells.

So the reason this is able to clear on a 1 link is that it's mainly focused on damage and hardly anything else. You still need crazy good gear to actually stay alive so 1 link or 6 link doesn't matter that much in this situations. But boy oh boy do those bosses drop fast. I've seen a lot of hateful comments. Just as a reminder, league starter is not by any means a "beginner friendly". I for one don't have that much experience to play this build at his fullest but it will be a learning experience for me.

I like this build, might be my league starter. Only thing that bothers me is the Explody Chest, but I think thats not that big problem. I am doing some testing right now to see how well it feels for me in endgame. For Leveling I am using Wave of Conviction and Holy Flame Totem. Just killed Kitava Act 5 and got about 5k tooltip DPS for WoC and 3k for HFT. Both skills can solo clear fast enough and for rare and unique enemies I use them both together and maybe even start using Arcanist Brand with Assassin's mark and Blade Blast (for Unnerve). This combination is nice for leveling with the same skill tree and auras as BB later uses and I can specc into Avatar of Fire as soon as possible with 100% phys. to ele. conversion. For league start I will start with the Consecrated Ground Ascendency points and vendor craft flat Fire Damage to Spells on my Sceptres. Sceptres are nice in my opinion to use Leap Slam and Fortify at least while leveling.

Hello. What do u think about Martyr of Innocence? It has more damage and built-in battlemage. We can swap instrumets of virtue to Augury of penitence. And pick some good crtit node's for staves. +some block.

Significantly worse. Vulconus actually gives more damage overall due to crit chance, the other 50% of our conversion, as well as being able to use an offhand.

Just leaving it here, this might be a good starter, but min maxing especially when the league is ending, chieftain and elementalist is better due to how tanky with the same damage they can do For example, Elementalist can reached 100 overcapped all resist including chaos with just t3s resist. Maxed 75 both block. 9k+ ehp. All ele ailment immune. Phys/dmg reduction taken. Some few dodge from elusive, 80m dps with 1ex weapon. And that's with an HH equipped which does nothing for bossing and nothing for resist. This inquisitor build is really good in terms of damage but I wouldn't be surprised if you categorized this as glass cannon. Though excellent build for first few weeks of the league

i remember using bladefall bladeblast combo with my shadow back in the delusion league and it was fantastic. i've been looking to play something else to creeping frost witch (one you provided in your videos) perhaps i'll play this one as well! Would like to see a scion build thats cheap and powerful as its been ages since i played as the scion.

It's an interesting build for sure. I invested about 20ex on this build and coming from a toxic rain trickster whose gear is about 10ex, this one felt weaker. It felt like a glass cannon. Higher dps but lower survivability compared to the trickster. Overall it's fun to blast my way around in the maps but it feels a bit too squishy for my taste. As with all builds, I suppose it gets better with a higher investment but at that point, I cant say I am impressed. Or maybe I just got spoiled by how good the trickster is :D

Is it viable for SSF ? What would replace the main hand weapon ? I used your BL build (a bit modified) for 3.13 and it was SO strong, nothing came close (Tho, I got about 20 times your dps by the end) Now I'm playing SSF until 3.14 as a league-start training camp, trying out the BL again. Got to T15 maps in 24 H playtime with no Crown / Foible / Essence Worm / Pledge / Skyforth (yea, i preffer them for stun treshhold ) and no light cluster jewel yet.

It should work for SSF with a high damage one hand and any stat stick offhand. The dagger is best in slot I feel however. If you can farm it up in SSF then go for it. It drops from Elder Guardians.

I’m pretty new to the game. My second character is this build and loving it so far. I’m confused on one aspect. Do cluster jewels unlock passives? Seal mender is missing on my passive tree for example.

I'm having massive survivability problems leveling . Get shredded by a lot. Got my knife, helmet and ring ready to go once I hit the level requirement. thanks to a lucky exalt drop. Still not liking the build much, no survivability against anything even following the skill set up. Hoping once I hit max that changes.

Just reached level 70, haven't bought the dagger yet, and figured I'd try Burial Chambers T16 (13 lvl spread) and I was able to clear it, except for the boss... Just wanted to give anecdotal evidence to Bick Ducks claim of "Insane Damage."

People bitching about no defense. You need to build armor/energy hybrid armor WITH health/energy built into the gear. DO NOT USE ANY EVASION GEAR AT ALL. Craft energy and health on everything, but if you also don't have any damn resistances then that's your fault. Every build will fail at that point. I can sit right in the middle of Ultimatum on a t12 and tank the shit out of it as long as I'm keeping my CDs on. The fault is with you, not this build.

You're definitely not chilling in the middle of ultimatum circles with this build, no matter how tight your CD gameplay is. Zero defense is still zero defense and mobs will shred through your EHP pool in no time. Stop making excuses for this build, it's just not synergizing with the league mechanic and sets players up for disappointment.
