Outdoor Electrical Equipment and Switchgear - PEN Faults - RCDs - Whats allowed???

With ever more electrical equipment going in outdoor locations the risks and requirements shift month to month.
I take a look through solar inverters, battery storage, heat pumps, outdoor consumer units, EV chargers and a little bit more.
Referencing Guidance note 7 for special locations and Guidance note 1 selection and erection.
As electricians who design, select and erect we need to think very carefully about how we apply systems to be used safely by consumers and prevent fire and electric shock.
Poor selection and erection along with design leaves us wide open to issues and circumstance I would not wish on nobody.
I am sharing my views for feedback and am happy to learn if I am wrong. What do you think because I think actual electricians have an ever quieter voice in all parts of industry but social media.

Spot on mate! I totally agree with you on outside CUs. I’ve always stuck any switch gear in the DNO box when I’m forced too. Some also worth looking into is whether manufacturers can make a class 1 CU safer by the coating being class 2 ? As well as taking account of the pollution rating of the outside unit. Also it’s not totally safe as far as installing from an inside unit in regards fire risk if the owner won’t give permission for an older CU maybe rewireable fuse type unit or similar. I think if I’m given the option where I’m signing that work off I’m going for either inside a DNO box or place another DNO style box on the wall for my CU ) No totally safe options!
