Awesome project, as usual. The only thing I would have added is a drip inducer to the bottom of the table top before the concrete set. Looking forward to your next build. Glad that there will be more in the New Year.

These tables look awesome.! I love the combination and design.! 🔥 And as a little trick i picked up recently from a video of "JBo Airbrush" for saving your finnish dripping over the rim and side of your cans, you can make a V-shape with tape just on the inner rim of the can opening. That way the finnish runs over the tape and doesnt get caught in this groove or runs down the sides. Also makes pouring more accurate. Thanks for making your nice videos also entertaining!

Lovely tables! That 3° angle really adds an evolved geometry to the look of the tables. Given that outdoor surfaces are rarely flush, did you need to make any adjustments or temporary wedges to make a straight and wobble-free surface? Tx for the video, another great one 👍
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Curtis! No, i didn't put anything under the legs to balance it on the surface. It's on my back patio which is a flat layer of concrete, so the surface is consistent. Aesthetically unappealing, but consistently flat. 😂

Very nice work! Curious, were they at all top heavy, and what wood species did you like working with the best? Thanks.
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The tops were 50 pounds each, so a little awkward to flip and lift, but not too bad. I prefer the white oak because it’s much harder and isn’t as susceptible to damage as the sapele. I also prefer the color and grain of the white oak.

The best use of shellac and epoxy is putting it on light woods when using dark epoxy so that it doesn't stain the wood outside of the hole you're filling
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking4 жыл бұрын

First KZbin question like and question EVER. First of all your style, explanation of technique and commentary was great. I have literally only built one thing out of wood in my life and am looking at changing that very soon. I am currently between houses while waiting to finish building and then close on my new home. So I have been binge watching wood channels EVERY night for over two months. I have now convinced myself that I can build anything and am ready to take on the wood making world, lol. Anyhow, I am curious, did you sell these? If so what was your cost vs sell? Also how much time (days) as well as actual build time did you have in the project? Great vid, subscribed today and will be checking out more videos as well. Thank you for your time and response.
@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brandon! Thanks so much for the comment and the kind words. There’s definitely a ton of great content on this platform to learn from. I didn’t sell these tables as they were built for my house. And I worked on them sporadically for like 8 months so I’m not sure how long they took. The Domino version is much quicker than the mortise and tenon and that BASE could easily be done in less than a day. To build the forms and pour the concrete is probably another day.
