I went with concrete just for the longevity of the structure. I have used wood in the past as well with a solid product.

Right on. We are in TN too. This design is exactly what I am hoping will work for us. Are any of your kennel dogs also house dogs? We have an indoor dog and want to get him a mate to breed. I think that our home might get too tight with 2 house dogs but I know that we will want them to come in sometimes. The kennel sight that we are interested in is a few yards away from the house.

when we bring in the dogs we house them at night in Impact dog crates. We are at 8 dogs in the kennel right now and we try to keep it fair to all of them. One day we will get a property and be able to rescue all the babies

So I'm thinking of setting up 2 kennels like this with caging and concrete pads. I was wondering if it would be OK for 2 dogs to be next to each other in different cages if they were going to be buddies. I have a chill male malnios and getting a 9 week old female pit bull

100% ok and if one becomes kennel proud (barking and such at the other) they make a separator you can put up. I am a huge fan of concrete for the ability to clean up. I saw one of our work dogs get very sick off a dirt kennel floor that was only temp while we built out the kennel. Concrete and a simple green wash once a week.

What would be the best way to handle neighbors odors or loud sounds disrupting the dogs training and down kennel time?

I think just approaching them on the odor and asking them to handle it is always the best way. I would much rather you told me face to face then any other way. They may not know there is an odor. I use a lot of natural odor suppressors on my yard to keep everyone happy. No noise is a hole other deal. You can def work towards your dogs ignoring the sounds but it won't be easy. find a drive they would rather have than investigating the sound maybe? Good luck I hope you can get it worked out.

oh yes for sure. Our outdoor set up is a place for them to go during the day when we can't be here and they can still be outside and enjoying the weather and not be cooped up all day.

I recently put a 5x10 kennel in my yard for my dog while I go to work. Hes actually not too much trouble with trashing the yard - but I’m still feel safer with him in the kennel rather than running wild all day. Current problem is: he absolutely throws a fit when I put him in kennel. So what’s the proper strategy to help him be ok with it?

When you have when you're living in Colorado it snows and I have four dogs it's two Pomeranians and two chihuahuas and I wanted to ask if when you have them out there if it's possible to put like a heater to weatherize it and how would I go about doing that

Concrete with a cover. I am a huge fan of the Impact dog condos. they are insulated for when it gets to hot or to cold.

these aren't made anymore. I would look at Tractor supply they make a quality dog kennels for outdoors. I like putting the kennels on concrete. they are easy to clean, keeps the nails short, and keeps the dogs from digging giant holes.

No as long as you have a place to drain and clean you will be great. We are designing our indoor kennels as we speak. We are big on wanting an center drain to keep the dogs healthy

What if you have only one dog? Will it get lonely away from its family (pack) smells? What about one puppy, 3 months old in a kennel by itself all day? Isn't that cruel?

Def not crewel to leave a dog in a kennel all day. I will tell you a puppy doesn't have as much control over its bladder that young and you could come home to an accident. I don't blame them or make a big deal out of accidents like that we just reenforce going outside as a happy good job thing. I believe in kenneling dogs when you cannot supervise them in order to keep them safe. We do things like frozen Kong toys or long term chew antlers to make their time in the kennel fun. A dog is like a four year old child. If you give them enough trouble to get in they will. Pack stuff. If I got a puppy and didn't have another dog for it to pack up with I would become that dogs pack. I usually try to plan my days around dog centric things. This dog will look to you as the pack leader so have fun with it. I know lots of people that only have one dog and are very successful. I must be a dog hoarder though I am at 8 right now. So concrete is better build on than dirt,gravel or wood? I'm building a kennel for my dogs. I got 6 dogs😂

Concrete will be easier to clean and won't hold bacteria like wood or dirt will. Gravel would be my next choice just be ready to replace it with new every year or so.

Concrete will keep the area easier to clean. Plus dirt will hold onto disease more than concrete. we lost a dog once in the army when we were using a temp kennel.
