I love the Toyo AT3. Based on doing hundreds of sets of these tires, Toyo tires have always impressed me with their build quality and long lasting performance. Every time I’ve ever driven a vehicle with Toyo AT3s it’s been very comfortable and the handling is good and you can’t feel the tread. When balancing this tire I have always been impressed with how straight, and how consistently straight these tires spin and how little weight needed to balance them. I’ve also been very impressed with their ability wear out evenly with significantly less cupping, feathering, and other means of uneven wear compared to other tires. As well as the fact that it’s relatively light and looks cool too. By far my favorite tires to run on something like an SUV or Truck that commonly sees dirt and rocks and occasionally sees snow and rock crawling, while still behaving very well on dry road surfaces.

I’ve had horrible experiences with Toyo tire tires. Wore uneven, became loud and the mileage was significantly less than the BFG’s. We have 4 service trucks that have ran both over the last few sets. Generals were better than the Toyo’s but the BFG’s wore better than them all.

I've owned over a dozen trucks, multiple 1 ton and 3/4 /on duramax and cummins. Running both bfg and Falken on all. Tire weight was very noticeable on the tundra. Like a huge difference. Maybe not on the right suspension, but on an average build, it's definitely noticeable.
@EthosAtheos10 ай бұрын
Un-sprung weight makes a huge difference at speeds above rock crawling. On a dirt road at speed a 10lb difference can be a big performance difference. It becomes more noticeable the lighter the vehicle and the longer the travel of the suspension. People don't talk enough about the weight of tires and rims for off road driving. It may be meaningless to the rock crawlers. But for driving on washboard roads it is a big consideration.

how weak the duratrac at are? Because I've been using 6 ply rating with 2 ply sidewalls muddies (linglong tyre) carrying 1700++ of produce from the depth of Borneo to the nearest town that have paved road with no issue regarding sidewall puncture.
@kobayashimaru811410 ай бұрын
@@gonsungar9420 Honestly, I think the weak sidewall thing is something that's just regurgitated by everyone who reviews them with very few actually having experienced a problem. I'm on my second set and it's never been an issue. In fact, I think it's a pro on the street. I don't go wheelin a ton but where I do go is definitely rocky with opportunity to puncture. I also load up the truck pretty good and tow an enclosed trailer. I'm curious about the new Duratrac's performance because it looks like they've gone with a slightly tamer tread than the original.

My only issue is I wish they’d make a 8 ply for a happy medium to fit my needs. 10 ply is great but it’s a little much for my needs. It’s currently at 5/32s tread left. I’ve been looking at the at4w and ko3 for a 8 ply option. I try to keep this truck out of mud as much as possible. Have only had to 3 times in about 4 years and this tire has been the best I’ve ran. I am running 35" Falken RTs on my 23 Tundra 1794 Hybrid. I had the Yokohama X-ATs on for a bit but the wheel setup caused the tires to rub +40mm) and then I discovered the RTs so I switched (+20mm). X-ATs are a great tire but for winter driving you should consider snows to supplement them. Anyway I wish the AT4W was available when I bought the RTs bc of their weight however I suspect its not a big difference. My Tundra with a 3" lift and 35s (stock beyond that apart from a bed cover) gets 14 mpg so I may look at the KO3s as my spring summer tire and then use the RTs in later fall and winter. Or sell the lot and run AT4Ws year round. I am looking to move to CO or ID so I need a good tire for those climates.

Great on gravel roads and you can put a ton of miles on them, but the wet and snow traction is horrible. I had them break loose while passing a car on wet roads. So far the Coopers have been outstanding. Definitely more of an on-road versus an off-road tire, but I think they will be the perfect choice for someone that deals mostly with dry, wet and snow covered roads and do the occasional off-roading. I have a regular cab f150 that I will be putting Firestone x/t tires on. It is a work truck that will see farm paths and fields. I am a beekeeper in Wisconsin. On the back of my p30 step van I have 4 of bfg km2 tires with over 40,000 miles

If I care a lot about rotational mass - would you gravitate toward the Toyo at3

Im on a 275/70r17 falken at3w on my 4runner rn. Debating going with 34x10.5r17 next, or the Mickey Thompson in 255/85r17. All the tire options in those sizes run 1/2" small for some reason

Long live KO three load C! Damn you falcon and Mickey Thompson for your heavy pig tires. I’ll be rock crawling with my KO threes one day one day

BFG should really look into fixing a few problems with their tires, and then maybe more people would buy them.

Great video. Towing under 10k on an F250 4x4 that will also go around farm land (some mud) and occasionally winter (not deep off road snow) would you say the toyo, or the ko3/AT4?
@peterj57514 ай бұрын
The big question I have is how the KO3 will be on mud. I know they aren’t a mud tyre but I would want them to be at least as good as the KO2 which I find acceptable.

Get a air pump that plugs into your truck 12v outlet or better yet clamp on your truck battery to pump up instantly

Looking at installing eithe the KO3 or AT4W. I've read that the KO3 picks up a ton of gravel. Does the wider spacing on the AT4W do a better job? Is the AT4W noticably louder than the KO3 or pitchy? Any recomendations for a fullsize F150 or Tundra? Thanks!

The K03 305/70R17 is finally available for my 4Runner, but it’s a Load Range F….. F seems a little “too” stiff of a sidewall for off-roading, right? Am I missing something here? I can’t see another load range option.

BFG KO2s were notoriously extra small for their nominal size listed. Do you know if that will still be the case with the KO3s? That was one of the main reasons I went with a different AT tire instead of the KO2. I wanted something that was physically closer to 37" than the KO2.

I recently bought a set of k03s in the 20" size. 275/65r20. They were physically a little bigger than my 285/65r20 ko2s they replaced. The ko2s had 10/32nd tread left. The k03 was a bit wider maybe 1/4" and was about same height. The ko2s were definitely undersized

My biggest problem with BFG is the tires aren’t true to size. Saying its a 35 and actually being closer to a 33 is just lying to your customers.
@perrycarditi58 ай бұрын
Is that true? I think my actual 35’s are 35’s and 37’s etc. They are a smidg smaller but not 2 inches. Fractions of an inch. Some of the raptor bunch running around on 315/70 17’s who call them 35’s are the ones misleading.

Great Video! Your tire reviews and analysis are the very best. I put down a deposit for a Lexus GX 550 Overtrail and should get one of the first deliveries from my dealer. I live in Arizona and want to build it for desert off-roading, and as my daily driver. No one has had the opportunity to 3D scan the vehicle for 3rd party accessories, so I probably won't be able to choose tires until I know what sort of alterations will be required to fit 35's. I hope the K03's are out by then. But I must admit, I love the look of the Mickey Thompson. Although I hear they are a pain to balance, and keep balanced. Keep up the superb videos!
