If you run an entire suite of proposed tire designs on a supercomputer-based off-road terrain simulation you can EASILY create a narrowed-down set of new and PROPER off-road designs that are GRIPPY and SAFE! It only take FOUR server-class GPU cards (AMD Instinct or NVIDIA) installed on a Windows-based EPYC 128-core CPU super-workstation in order to have a super-computer capable enough to evaluate TENS OF THOUSANDS of 4x4 off-road tread designs. So it IS possible to get a proper off-road tire for cheap if you know some rules of friction-physics and tread-wall-oriented rain/snow/ice/sand/rock trap-and-slough-off science! V

Which tyres would you suggest for 70% highways, 20% bad rough roads and the last 10% for special off road on a heavy SUV?

I work for a company that has over a thousand Ute's on the road in Australia and we used to run the BFG K02 fleet wide until they changed the tyre. since the change (manufactured in asia) there has been massive sidewall failures. we now have moved to toyo.

Originally all tires use to white. To make tires last longer, especially in the tread area, manufacturers added carbon black to the rubber compound in the 1910s. This made the tires black, but many manufacturers only used the black compound in the tread. Thus giving the tires white walls back in the day.

For any of you saying he could have used a grinder you clearly have been cutting tires up very inefficiently for a while now… also if you’re curious, rubber is naturally white, it becomes black when it is carbonized, making it less vulnerable to heat and road wear, okay I’m done wasting time now

More like untreated rubber or the part of how tires become black is not done well

I've been running KO's for years now on several different vehicles. They've always been great tires but really lacked performance, and even I'd say safety in the rain. They weren't great in icy conditions, but what tire truly is? I finally switched it up last fall to the FALKEN A/T3W, and I absolutely love them! So much better in the rain, I feel like they're glued to the road, better on the ice as well. I said to myself after getting through winter and spring (snow/rain) these are my new forever tires! With these new upgrades however, I'll probably have to give them at least one go. Luckily there will be enough time to before I need to buy them that there will be plenty of reviews out on them. With all that said, this was an amazing video breaking down all the differences on the different generations of the KO's. Well done, and thank you!

I have been using the Grabber ATX as my dedicated winter tire set in the Northeast. It performs great on my 1/2 ton truck getting me to work and back during these brutal winter storms we get. 5 winters of wear on them now and they still have 87.5 percent tread left so is using only 2.5% tread life up per winter which is pretty good.

I am wondering how the road noise is for the MT Baja Boss AT compared to the KO2. I have had multiple sets of the KO2s and been pleased with their performance and road noise, but I am looking for a more aggressive tire without going to a mud tire.

I bought the BougeRV 48L dual zone w/split doors. I got the back up battery and the cover. So far I love this thing. It cools down quickly, it has the baskets, the LED lights (which are amazing) it’s quiet and with the wheels and extendable handle you can’t beat it. You can charge it via 12v, A/C, or solar. It also has a usb port and a built in bottle opener! Lol I spent under $700.00 for the whole package.

The Goodyear Wrangler performs poorly on wet roads and produces a lot of road noise past 30k. I switched to Nitto Ridge Grappler, far superior to the Goodyear.

In South America in general, people repair tires even if they are perforated on the side. They "vulcanize" to repair. It actually works. They go on for years.

One rule of thumb that I learned is: the factory tires will NEVER be as good as top of the line tires that are not OE. period. The reason? Manufacturers don't have the freedom to make the best cars (which alone is a nonsense because the "best" must mean only one or two aspects). Tires that come with the cars must be: cheap (or low cost), quiet, fuel efficient, handle at the intersection of the marketing team's wishes. I'm a nobody, though I studied transportation engineering, and worked at an automotive RND in Germany. Tires are a whole next level science and involve engineering and testing most will never have insight to. Just my two cents.

The issue isn't tires. It's ignorance. People don't run the right tire pressure for the weight of the load (vehicle and cargo). Almost everyone sees 65lbs cold so they put 65lbs in it. Or 80lbs in non floatation type. But if you look at the loads of those tires, 3800 lbs at 65lbs pressure. The weight of most ruche can be healed on two tires. I run 35lbs empty and if im loaded i still don't need to max out my tire pressure. I'll never have 13000 pounds of weight on 4 tires. I rarely if ever run max in tires. I've played a lot with tire pressure through the years. Run the right pressure and your tire will wear evenly.
