I dig it. I've been stuck in this *"Unless you're forging your steel this isn't knife making"* rut lately. I made a quick knife recently using finished steel like this, and was martyred on the forums by knife makers espousing *"UNLESS YOU'RE FORGING YOUR STEEL, YOU'RE NOT A REAL KNIFE MAKER!"* I'm not a knife maker, I'm just guy that makes a few dozen knives a year out of boredom. I wonder if that logic extends to procuring, and smelting ore as well? Regardless, I dislike how elitist the community has become.

Yeah its silly. You can make a really bad knife using both methods (ive made a couple myself 😬). So I guess the wood worker has to grow the trees as well🙄 Most of the forum's are full of a lot of "faceless opinions" that just don't matter. The worst thing you can do is start caring what other people think and basing what you make on someone who doesn't give a crap. Do what you like, and make what you like 👍

Unless you procure and mix your own pigments and binders and weave your own canvas and craft your own brushes from your hair, YOU'RE NOT A REAL PAINTER.

Listen brother, don’t listen to all those posers. What is this “procuring” stuff all about? Get a shovel, pick and helmet. If you aren’t _mining_ your own ore you aren’t really knife making. Also, if you are going to use electricity anywhere in the process you need to make your own. I recommend hooking up an exercise bike to a generator.

EXACTLY, I quit going on Facebook groups and talking to people in person about my ideas. I felt like such a dumbass for my dumb ideas and poor thinking. I'm just going to isolate myself and nobody needs to know my failure or any triumphs/ achievements.

You need to start making knives full time and selling them to the public. I'm hoping that is what you are getting at. I would love to buy the knife in this video. Have you considered doing some convex or Scandi-vex blade grinds on the bushcraft style knives? Love convex and love Scandi and Scandi-vex is the kinda the best of both worlds. Great video. I was in the machining/tool making trade for over 32 years and I loved this video. BTW, hit me up if you want to sell that knife. LOL

@@OUTDOORS55 This has to be one of my favorite knife builds I've seen on KZbin and I've watched plenty! You made it a simple process and the knife came out fantastic! I would be proud to own this knife! I want one so bad, I have everything I need to make it except for my health and the space in my house. I purchased all the tools and materials to make knives, but then I had my right leg amputated and have Stage 5 kidney disease. I'm only 48 and God it sucks to lose a limb! I still hunt and shoot when I feel okay and that knife would be my best friend if I had it! GREAT JOB!!

That handle material reminds me of acrylic scales, which I’ve used quiet a bit. Fancy woods are nice and durable. But sometimes a colorful man made material is a better choice.

I looked what it was made of, because it behaved strangely. Their own website says it's a type of acrylic, meant to he tougher than the usual stuff you find. I am usually a wood or simple micarta man, but I did find myself thinking that these scales did look good.

Learned a lot about sharpening knives from your channel brother and just ordered the “unicorn diamond knife sharpener” the sharpal in one of your latest videos. I got the 8” block and the diamond syringe stropping fluid and the leather belt material for stropping. Hope and praying that your health is improving brother. Prayers 🙏 for you and your family!!
