Awesome buck!! I noticed u tagged him through his ear. That can usually be avoided just by putting tag on an antler and saves your taxidermist time if you get him mounted. Nice to see women like you get ramped up about bowhunting!

Congratulations on a great Buck! I got in the habit a couple years back of always carrying a few green chem lights with me. After the shot, I light one and throw as close as I can toward where I shot the deer. I then leave another on the tree when I climb down. Helps in orienting on where they ran as well as finding the arrow if it's not lighted. For tracking I use a couple 3ft stakes I keep in the truck and I attach a chem light on each and mark the last spot of blood before moving on. Once I find the next spot I mark it and go pick up the first one.

Same thing happened with my Big 8pt, hit him in what looked to be a lung shot. Big guy took off over the fence into the neighbor's property. Asked permission and the spent about 45 minutes tracking. Saw his main beam sticking up, got so excited for my first buck I forgot how big he was. Took my cousin and I almost an hour to drag him to the fence line 60yards away. Biggest deer I have ever seen on hooves in the wild. Great job! What a bruiser!

Hill country is hard to hunt it’s always swirling and unpredictable. I usually don’t wear my heavy coat it just so I can cut down the sweating. Also this year decided that I won’t wear the saddle in because that can cause excessive sweating and I hunt in mostly briar thickets and would rip up my Trophyline saddle. Have been watching y’all’s videos for years and was subscribed for some reason it shows I’m not subscribed. Like your cooking videos you have some great recipes. Good luck this season to you both!

When following a blood trail, I use toilet paper or biodegradable orange tape to mark the blood spots when the trail gets light. This not only gives you the last spot found, but you can get an idea of the line of travel. The TP is also biodegradable.

@russelllangworthy88552 жыл бұрын
@@beeamerica5024 I don't doubt that you've gotten them out of the woods no matter what. We all do...if we're ethical, that is. I just question your sanity (no offense) if you think dragging a deer backwards, against the grain of the hair, is easier. Also, if you drag it backwards, you're obviously not concerned with getting it mounted. Dragging it against the grain is going to ruin the cape.

Well... first of all congrats on a great buck. Next, how much did it weigh and how much did the meat weigh? I am curious as i just packed out a west river SD muley by my self 2.2 miles on my back. And lastly i would highly recommend lumenocks as they make it awesome to see where you shot and also the arrow laying on the ground, just make sure the nock similar size of the arrow or it may break like my off brand nocturnals did on my buck. However, i put reflector tape right behind the vanes to help find my arrows.

Even though it happens, here in WI leaving climbing sticks or a platform on public land can get you a ticket from the right conservation officer. Many friends have lost equipment leaving it overnight on public land. Good they are not so strict or dastardly in PA.
