In this video I show the process I go through cutting carbon arrow shafts and gluing in the inserts. I used a "glue" I have never used before so I am interested in seeing how it holds up in the long run. -Enjoy!

I miss using a compound bow for hunting. I had to switch to a crossbow due to a shoulder/back injury. Follow up shots with a compound are so much faster than a crossbow.

I'm so old my first compound was a White Tail II in the early 80's. I remember the shop using the hot snot to glue the inserts in those old Easton shafts and my back stop was one of those cardboard bails from the grocery store. Those were the days!!!

That a nice tool invention there Mr. O!! I always have to use pliers to hold the insert when I use hot melt. Also if you put a little bow string wax or regular chapstick on the threads of the field points they won’t come loose when pulling out of targets

Enjoyed the video as a much younger man did some bow stuff but I did notice a Rock Chucker on the bench and my real passion was reloading. In your spare time haul some wheel weights home from the shop and turn them into bullets. Any body can buy a store bought bullet and build good accurate ammo. Casting your own takes as much knowledge and detail as your putting into your love of archery try it you might like it.

I put a lot of effort into my son's hobbies when he was growing up, his lacrosse sticks were crazy good. But kids move on, and their best memories are mostly the things they did for themselves. That's my experience, anyway. YMMV.

I use Gorrila glue blue tip impact formula. Comes out as a gel and sets in ten seconds. Lightly coat the insert, turn as you go in and right before you seat it, lightly tap it in the rest of the way (so you dont get glue on your fingers) then quickly wipe up the excess that forms around the tip and ready to shoot. Hope this helps you with all the arrows you have to build. Also works with the fletching. Dab the area with about 4 small dabs of glue and then take the tip of the bottle and run it back and forth till it covers the area then set it.

we're loving the new " after hours " uploads, thanks. A quick check of the google tells me that Bow Hunting got banned in the U.K in 1965. If you want to hunt ( called 'stalking' here U.K) deer you have to pay huge sums and go to Scotland , there you will run over Gods creation to find an old stag, with no teeth and starving to death, but that will be the only one you can shot. Its funny now because in lower England especially the south east deer herds are a real problem. Farmers can lose entire fields of crops in one night because the herds can be so big, yet we are not allowed to sustainably harvest some. Great vid , thanks
