Hi Mike, "Don't get frustrated, and just take your time". Very good advice for all tractor work, especially involving a loader. Peace.

Hey thanks again Mike. I know I have said it before but It is really appreciated that you always take the time to explain what you are doing and why because although it may be second nature to you, it is so invaluable to us tractor newbies, and is greatly appreciated. Cheers and thanks from Canada!! Have a great time this weekend at your big shin dig with Melissa and all the best!!

An old dog just learned a new trick. Never thought to use a drag blade to push with. Going to hook it up to the old Massy and give it a try in the AM. Thanks Mike.

Love the videos Mike. Bought 40 acres last year and had a retirement house built. Bought a Gator, zero turn and my first chain saw. Learning a lot from your videos. You mentioned building a tower blind on one of the videos. Did you do a video on building the tower? Looking to build a couple on my property.

Mike been watching your vids since day one! The tractor work seems like an talent learned over time. I appreciate the tips like loading the bucket heavy on one side.Would an in cab video be possible of what you do with the controls, what and where you look at while for performing tasks? You make it look easy from the outside. Keep up the great work! I enjoy the videos immensely.

There must be a good solid and compacted base to this driveway, as the Tandem left no tire marks at all. Nice job in progress ( well, nearlyfinished, I know ) here Mike!

I have found that a DR Power Grader will level limestone and gravel driveway areas with very few imperfections. The cost is about $1,200.00 for the implement and it will pull behind a 18 horse lawn tractor with ease. More horsepower is OK but not required. I keep about an acre of limestone parking area in good shape by just using the D R Power Grader about twice a year. I also have a subcompact tractor (John Deere) with a box blade but my implement of choice to maintain the limestone parking area is the D R Power Grader with my "Grasshopper" lawn tractor. The implement actually digs up a top layer with "teeth" as it lays down the loose stone in a level manner. It really stretches how long a load of limestone will last. I don't know for sure, but perhaps the D R Power Tool company might be interested in providing a D R Power Grader to "Outdoors With The Morgans" for advertising purposes.

Another fine job you are doing.If a person can video conditions during a storm it greatly helps when laying ditches,placing culverts etc. Beats memory all to heck.You mentioned your tractor is in the $30,000.00 range(nice tractor btw). I went in a different direction on my equipment. A few years ago I got heavy into fixing and either selling or keeping equipment. Now have 10 tractors,a couple of backhoes,a crawler loader, a JD 450G dozer,dump truck,a loader landscaper and loads of attachments. Because of what I fixed and sold at a profit my net cost for all the equipment is zero. Lots of risk and you have to know your market but if you can turn a good wrench it can be done. Sources for the equipment was government auctions,craigslist and farm equipment auctions.But you MUST know mechanics and what you are looking at. Newest project is a JD 2030 and I have the evaluation video on my channel if you want to take a peek.It's typical of what I work on.Love your channel so keep the videos coming!

I'd love to get a skid steer. Trouble is they tear up everything. Make 1 turn and you have lawn to fix.

Curious why you didn’t just have the majority of all the Stone drop spread from the truck and do the detail with the tractor(s)?

That one section is the only area without trees, (To Many Branches) , plus sometimes you get good drivers, sometimes not so good
@vancasdorph39516 жыл бұрын
Mike if you didn’t have the trees and a really long driveway run, would it have been better to have the truck tailgate it in? I’m asking for my own situation as I will have to do crush’n’run at some point and it would take me forever to do it the way you are.

Hi Mike I deliver and spread shale in driveways with my Kubota BX and a front loader I find once you get your grade close then back drag it in float position at a pretty fast speed it will level things out real nice

its like everything else... practice make you good at things... when leveling a road with my boxblade, I go slowly and i adjust my 3pts height with my right hand. its like backing with a trailer, at first its not easy... but the more you do it, you get better at it.... when the nose of the tractor sink a bit, I just lower my blade a bit (because the nose sinking made the blade raise up)... when the front raise up a bit, I just raise my blade a bit (because the the nose going up make the blade go down). floating the blade its good to transport the gravel.

pushing stone with the back side of the blade - Interesting
@clarkwheeler87646 жыл бұрын
Wooo, the traffic coming at you trying to pull out of that drive doesn't allow for much time. Wondering if the gravel will be spun out trying to "gun it" to get out on the highway?

Have you ever tried a land scape rake? I use mine on gravel and it works better than my back blade. Might be a make a good video witch is better. Great videos. Les from Upper Michigan.

We have skid loader on my farm and would not be without one but I total agree you can always rent. I going to need a backhoe soon and I will rent it for about $1100 a week . I only need one once every 3 to 4 years for 2 or 3 days that's why I rent it. Less you own you save on insurance , maintenance and space in a building.

It's not easy to make it level? Ya, if your using the wrong tool for the job! Put a box scraper on the back! I can redo a gravel drive in no time flat.
@imysteryman6 жыл бұрын
Now you know why I put the hydraulic controlled roller on the back of my box blade, I could have done that job in half of the time and better to boot. Why they do not sell a box blade made like mine is beyond me, I guess it is because of the cost difference.

My thoughts are buy a tractor and attachments and rent a skid loader when necessary. That is unless you have no need at all for a tractor.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
