This is THE guide that helped me get this achievement. Your analysis of common causes of failure (undershooting then falling into the sun or going too fast then being pushed away) was the exact reason for my failed attempts. And your clarifying what to aim for (keep your speed stable) and how to achieve it(thrust sideways, not forward or backward) helped greatly. Try thirteen times, play The song "My God is The Sun" by the kings of the stone age (or any epic music you deem appropriate to the situation at hand) AND YOUR DONE!

You shouldn’t need a guide if you’ve learnt how little force is needed to float close to the sun but also how much force is needed to not launch away from the sun as you spin around it.
