And yes Kotor 2 is a great game, but with all the unfinished content Obsidian was forced to cut (because money and time is what counts for the publishers not the game)it would be nice to see a remake. Sadly i do not think Obsidian will be allowed to do that or do Kotor 3 becouse of the state Bioware is in now and how EA runs the show (i do not think we will see Kotor 3 at all (not in the near future anyway)).

When the beginning of a story parallels the end of a story, or another part of the story, it is called appositive style. The best example I can think of is Beowulf, where the story begins with a funeral and ends with one, as well as the parallels within the "boss" fights, it is incredibly important

So, the burned arm thing... since all the little capillaries and probably also the bigger blood vessel would be burned closed you would have to remove the burned layer on both sides to reattach the limb and get it to have blood circulation. For the nerve endings though this wouldn’t work so well the limb would be paralyzed at least partly. This is of course assuming that the physiology of this face balls alien is somewhat similar to humans. I’d guess it’s not since the arm in the movie looks to be hollow and filled with liquid.

Im a prosthetic technician student in the fall, from what i understand your question depends on how the limb is attached; A new real world technique implants a titanium rod that will transmit sensation and command to the arm and hand attached, this should be made more complicated by cauterization but not inherently a no-no If it's a real world common myoelectric arm then it's actually detecting electrical impulses in the muscles and not the nerve itself so itd depend on a ton of factors beyond that anyway. From what star wars looks like it's probably something closer to the multipart prosthetic that's part bone implant and part "removable" prosthetic limb. But issues like these are exactly why every patient requires fairly personalized care and equipment because these new fangled cyber limbs still require a well working nervous system
@phyllissmith59805 жыл бұрын
Okay I am not a surgeon but my father lost two fingers and you DO NOT cauterize unless you are Not going to reattach the limb. It seals the nerve endings and vessels and makes it impossible for the limb to function. Think: A hunk of dead meat where his arm used to be.

I’m pretty sure if you lost a limb to a lightsaber, reattaching it would be difficult because they’d have to slice off the cauterized bits (maybe 1/2 inch total) and the inch or so disintegrated from the lightsaber cutting through it. It would be significantly shorter, no?

Limb reattachment is impossible by today's technology but theoretically if you could reattach it would be best that if the removed limb is cauterized since it would be perfect condition to be cryogenically frozen and beneficial to the patient who lost their limb since their wound would also be cauterized so it's best case scenario

Cauterising (or diathermy) would be a good thing in that it stops bleeding and possibly prevent space infection. However the vessels and nerve axons will be sealed off, so you would have further debride (dismember) both ends of the Meaningful Dismemberment and try to attach whatever’s left. At best he’ll have one shorter arm, far far away.

Cauterizing the wound and putting it on ice would solve exsanguination and the proliferation of various pathogens' possible modes of ingress to the limb involved. Both that still attached and the dismembered part. It would only take the shaving off of both by an insignificant amount to have fresh nodes on either side that match up quite well. All in all much easier than the Bobbit reattachment, which proved successful.

I'm not a limb reattachment specialist, but I've watched enough actual surgical things to know that a wound will not heal if it's not bleeding. If it's cauterized, it's not bleeding. So you'd have to cut/scrape away the cauterized bits before reattaching. More troubling would be finding and reattaching all of the muscle groups to the corresponding muscle groups on the opposite side, pinning the bone (assuming bone was cut through) so that would heal properly, reattaching all the blood vessels and nerves to their corresponding bits on the other side. Otherwise, you're stuck with a reattached arm that doesn't do much in any sort of useful way.
@miss-petrolea5 жыл бұрын
Doctor here, not specialised in limb reattachment, though, I'm a pathologist. However I do see a lot of microscopy images of tissue with cauterised cut surfaces and that tissue is just fully cooked and not viable. If you'd want to reattach a cauterised anything (along the cut surface) you'd have to remove the damaged tissue on both ends, and I'm not sure you could do so without massive bleeding, and in terms of a limb nerve innervation would probably be severely compromised (if at all possible).

Two: after Order 66 Palpatine did everything he could to relegate the Jedi to the history books, which combined with point one means the people in the Cantina would most likely have no-idea what a Jedi looks like. And three: is the growths on those Cystypigs naturaly fall of after a while and don't get in their way, I would see no issue with it.

I'd argue that Obi-Wan's cutting off of Pondo's arm was significant because it is the first time we ever saw a lightsaber do anything other than turn on and cause the frame to stutter. Also, I'm not a doctor, but I'm from a family of them, and asked this exact question as a child when I found out how hot lightsabers were, no, cauterizing a wound is not good for it, you're effectively cooking the meat to kill all the cells on the surface, which closes the blood vessels and capillaries, in order to have something heal, it has to have living cells, in fact, from my understanding, in order for Ponda to have any prosthetic attached to that stump that made use of his nerve endings it'd have to be cut again to make a new, fresh wound to reach living nerve endings.
