Clay, I like your current podcast because it includes news and sports. You do the news very well. You’re truthful and insightful, qualities sadly lacking with CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, or ABC. What’s even more impressive with your reporting is, if you make a mistake, you admit it. So, I would like it if you would keep doing the daily podcasts. If you wanted to also do long form interviews, I would tune in. Long form interviews need good guests to make the interview work. The best guests make the best interviews. The fact the College Football Playoff was exclusively on ESPN limited viewership. If these games would have been on ABC, it would have increased viewership.

Why not make it so that when a player commits to a school, its a 2 year commitment? Also, causal fans have lost interest over the years, because many are dropping cable all together. People are tired of paying extra. To illustrate one of Clay's points. When Mecole Hardman's rookie contract was up KC let him go free agent, the Jets didnt use him, and the Chiefs got him back. This has happened twice with this same player. He has as many SB rings as Mahomes and Kelce and Jones. Was he the superstar? no, but he was productive. It seems the only loyalty any of these teams care about are the fans.

“Final Four” is trademarked by the NCAA for only basketball (as are the lame terms Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen). The OSU-Texas and ND-PSU games were the CFP Semifinals.
@MrSoulauctioneer9 күн бұрын
the NCAA football problem is based on this, DECADES of media bias, NIL and the transfer portal. It lacks the parity of the NFL. Parity is the key. and college coaches being the highest paid public employees in states leaves a bad taste in a lot of peoples' mouths. Money is runing all college sports, not just football.
@markp.71659 күн бұрын
College fans often watch their team play and that is it. They don't watch other schools with the same passion (134 FBS Schools) especially teams in a different conference play. So when the CFP got going if their team wasn't in it which is highly unlikely then they either don't watch or watch a little. As the field got narrowed down the people watching got narrowed down as well. I mean how many people in Southern Cal or South Florida care who wins between ND and OSU? Second, the game is on a Monday night. People have to work, that alone costs the game viewers. Hard to have a watch party on Monday night.
@Sacto16547 күн бұрын
The solution: put the semifinals and finals on ABC. Since ABC is an over-air broadcast network, this means substantially higher viewership for these games.

Monday night is the absolutely worst night for a championship game. College basketball has done this for years and won't make a simple adjustment to Friday night. Ratings and viewership would go through the roof. The NFL is next in line for not making that product's pinnacle game to a much better night also. Move it from the outdated Sunday to a much, much better Saturday night! The comments of minor league products do not apply to the sport of professional hockey, and that is fact!!! The step below the nhl has attendance figures that are just that, only a step below. A very small step. Noteworthy are the Hershey Bears and Cleveland monsters. In fact, the step below that (AA) hockey has a good core of die hards, too, that prefer the double A product's much cheaper dollar cost. I agree with the College football championship game being far to late on the calendar. To me, the Thanksgiving weekend would be a far better 1st round playoff venue and reducing the regular season to 11 games from 12. This would enable the championship to be decided closer to new years day.
