Yeah, in the book Roger was still self-conscious about his croaky voice when he does the Gaelic class. The TV series did let that go very early and it bugged me for a while. But hearing him in this episode... the hell with the croaky voice! Give me more of THIS!! 😍 I loved that when Jamie & Claire have that heart-to-heart and says "now, tell about my son", the words and inflection were almost identical to the reunion in S3 when Jaime pops on his glasses and say "now, tell me about my daughter". I am always up for more LJG content! I expect we'll get a lot of him in the 2nd half of the season. 😊

I've been enjoying this season so far. I live about 10-15 minutes for the Battle of Saratoga grounds so its crazy to think the characters are in my neck of the woods right now.

I love the Outlander content! That's how I found you!! But as a romance book reader myself, I've stayed for much more!! But I still love the Outlander videos!! (I also love the taboo and oddly specific book recs!! I always open goodreads during those videos to add things to my To Read shelf!!)

I have been enjoying all your Outlander recaps Jen. Love the book comparisons. Hope you continue until the series is over. I would not be surprise if they have an all John Grey episode just like the had an all Ian episode last season.

I love your Outlander recaps! They’re how I first found you. 😊 I really like the actor who plays William, too. I agree this episode spent too much time on Walter. The actor did a terrific job, though.

I recall Jamie telling Claire a few episodes back that his term of service was a year. Odd for me, having grown up in Western Massacusetts, to hear the names of New York towns (Saratoga, etc) popping up in my favorite show! Although I went through something similar a few years ago when I watched 'TURN' (fabulous show!). Wanted to add also that I *really* enjoy your reviews of 'Outlander' and look forward to them weekly. Please *do* continue and know they are really appreciated and enjoyed! I actually really enjoyed E6 and would give it about a 7.5 - it's been a very good season, IMHO. Regards from a former ND'er.

Hey, Jen! Loved the recap! This wasn't my favorite episode this season... I feel like they should've shortened the war parts more, especially the scenes with the injured soldier, Walter... We're gonna have another war episode next week and I feel like they won't have enough time to cover the rest of the books 🤦🏻‍♀️😢. I agree that they never address Roger's throat problems! I had the same thought at that part! I also LOVE this William! The actor is doing such a great job! Loved the scene where he meets Claire! And THAT ENDING! Can't wait for next week!!! I don't think they're gonna cover the John Grey parts... I'm thinking that next week they'll cover the war, and on the last episode of part one we're gonna see them in Scotland! They'll probably end it with "Jamie's death" in the voyage and Roger lost somewhere in the past... That’s my guess anyway 😅! Love, from Argentina 😘🇦🇷

Great recap! I would love a Grey centered episode, I just love John haha. William is knocking it out of the park, I like book William too but this actor is so good. Jamie being his gorgeous self. You know what's strange? This season in particular, that I've noticed, they aren't following the flow of an episode arc, the way tv shows usually do. Like each episode should have primary conflict, a climax and a resolution. But it doesnt, so it looks like a bunch of main characters just living their lives at the moment, and as a book reader I'm fine, but I wonder about people who only watch the show, whether they are engaged or not.. The thing which has been on my mind this whole season, I keep thinking about how Jamie is this 60-ish year old man, and everyone keeps dragging him into wars.. Like let this poor man retire lol, hasnt he been through enough 😂

As you wonder I will tell you. I discovered the books thanks to the show and haven't read that far so I guess we could say I am not considered a book reader at the moment as I discover the story with the show. I love that they don't try to have an artificial episode arc. That makes me feel it would be annoying, shallow and would dammage the story. I engage in the story because i love the caracters and the way they do things allow us to deepen things caracterwise. I want to know what they think and feel and how they evolve. I want to know what will happen for them in their life arc instead of the petty little stuff that can resolve in a single episode. So me too I enjoy how they do things. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Of course I am one viewer, it doesn't tell any science 😉

Thank you for another good review. They have been amazingly accurate, which is something i perosnally value above all else. But i will admit at times scenes seem forced and smushed together rather than a seemly flow like they may have in seasons 1 and 2. Which is really the only critisms i have of this season. I felt jamie needed to feel more fierce and violent as a man and i do feel like they have given us that. But i will say the biggest rhing that stands out for me in terms of quality is how they shoot action or suspense. They cover the interpersonal moments so well, but the acrion aspects feel so lack luster. I never felt any real tension in the claire/ian/william scene. But the flight from the fort really stuck out. It felt like a leisurely stroll through the woods, rather than a desperate struggle to get away from an approaching that might kill them or worse. We barely even see anyone run, and we certainly don't feel a sense of frantic panic and fear from the cast as they run. When you read this scene in the book you really feel Claire's fear for herself and jamie in a way they really didnt even attempt to capture. Which kind of makes me worry about how they'll depict the battle in future episodes. Will it feel like a battle with all the stakes and struggle and triumph? Or will it feel like them playing a game with no one takes seriously enough. I hope im wrong, but the shooting of action kind of makes me worry it will be portrayed that way. I did love seeing the actor who played simom Fraser. He in Turn: Washington's Spies, played robert Rogers, who is a man William meets around this time in the books. So they fact they are certainly going to skip that part, but having the actor who played that characrer on set within a similar story timeline made me really think that wasnt by accident

So Bree, Roger and the kids are living in the 1980s. It struck me that I am Amanda's age! Huh!! I read the first three books, and for some reason stopped. My goal is to read the entire collection this summer. :) Thanks again for a great video.

This episode was sort of boring. There should be more black people in this series because they did exist in those days. Wasting so much time on dying Walter was their poor attempt to add in a black person. I love your channel

I actually agree with you. It seems whenever they include a POC from the books, they are either injured or a criminal. I don't normally notice these things but it is becoming painfully obvious.
@kelechiajayi3049

As a black person who watches and enjoys the show (only read book 1), I completely agree with that. However, how often were black people in the books in terms of their interaction with the rest of the characters? How receptive would the viewers be to potentially changing a character to a black person in the book? I can imagine bringing in more black people as background characters (for example, being one of the crew men that Bree works with) but not sure how much the Outlander team would want to stray from the books if there weren't more intrinsic characters that were black.
@yoshimijulia118

@@kelechiajayi3049 I agree with you, there lots of spaces where POC would have been, like the army camps and such. We're seeing some of the Indigenous, but there would have been more black people too historically. Speaking of a more prominent character, Joe Abernathy is one, he was the doctor friend of Claire, from Harvard and after. You all bring up a good point, I'm going to be looking for it more now.
