OMG! Outlander! Thank you Imon for letting me see this with you. Much better than seeing it alone. My all time favorite show and the books are even better. We’ll see season 8 together one day. I’m sure going to miss this world.

This is my theory: Marter Raimond took Faith, revived her, and raised her. He had heard Claire singing that song to the baby so he also sang it to little Faith. Remember that Ramond is a time traveler with powers. Faith was born in 1744, so in 1778 she would have been 34 years old. Jane is 16 years old, so Faith could very well be her mother.

This makes sense- but the question is - why would he do that and not give her back to Claire? I haven’t read the side stories so I have no idea..

Imon, great reaction! As you were talking through the whole Frances/Jane/Faith situation, I realized that, assuming the Master Raymond did keep Faith alive and hid that from Claire for all those years, that what he would have been asking for forgiveness from Claire. Thanks for your help in seeing that!

How would Faith, if she lived and was swapped for a dead baby, know a song that she didn't even hear because it was sung to a dead baby? I HAVE QUESTIONS.

I actually looked up the seaside song! It was a music hall song from 1907, but it got covered by many artists. Claire was born in 1918, so she knew it. I’m surmising that Master Raymond could have taken Faith to a future time where she could’ve been revived. I’m loving this! I agree about Rollo, but he was an old dog. That scene was JUST like in the book. I loved how Brianna talked to his GRANDPA! Regarding Jane, wouldn’t this have been self defense in modern times?

There is something that a long time ago I heard called the "Turner and Hooch Rule," which is simply "Don't kill the dog." It's after the Tom Hanks movie "Turner and Hooch." I won't spoil it, but you can guess. There does seem to be an exception to this if the dog dies comfortably in old age, as in the movie "My Dog Skip." But most of the time, in contemporary movies, you almost never see a dog that's a character die.

Thank you for this reaction. I'll be waiting for your reactions to "Blood of my Blood" and the 8th season. In the books, Master Raymond is a spectacular character. He is a time traveler, from very ancient times, he is also Claire's and many other time travelers ancestor; he is one of the travelers who have the "blue cloak", that is, the power of healing (which Claire developed and which Dr. McEwan also had, he only appears in the books and saves Buck and completely cures Roger's neck in 1739), and as if that were not enough... he has the power to take the form of animals. I think he took Faith and raised her, because he knew that if Claire and Jamie had raised her, they would never have helped in Scotland or in the American Revolution, nor would characters like William, Brianna and even Roger have been born. And I think he asks for forgiveness because, in addition to taking his daughter away from them, he could not take care of their granddaughters of ended up in that sad life. I'm beginning to think that Raymond has transformed into a dragonfly several times, to be with Claire, with Faith, with the girls... and why not?, even to be the dragonfly inside the amber that Claire received as a gift at her wedding with Jamie.
@duckielove22862 күн бұрын
Faith would be 34 if she’s alive if that helps you at all. And let’s hope Jane isn’t her daughter bc William had relations with his half niece🫣
@MissTeeFy3 күн бұрын
Yes, Jane and Fanny's mother was called Faith. The speculation running round the fandom is rife because this wasn't really part of the books, there was a slight speculation about it, but it never came to anything. However it's unlikely Diana Gabaldon would put that in for no good reason. Master Raymond has many secrets to tell. I've watched the ep 4 times and this is the 2nd reaction I've watched and I cry about Rollo every time.
@MeyaRoseGirl3 күн бұрын
There was a conversation in book 9 between Jamie and Claire about the possibility, but it was ultimately dismissed because it's so unlikely. I chose not to believe it because it means William slept with his half-niece. But what annoys me the most is that now the big important thing about Frances becoming a part of the Fraser family is that she is their true granddaughter. It totally undermines what the REAL point of this story was, which was William finally reaching out to his bio dad, and the two of them starting to build a shaky relationship. Also, William's hurtful final remark wasn't in the book, though he has certainly thought it. But DG has always been a "less is more" type of writer when it comes to heart-to-heart conversations. That's why Jamie didn't tell William the whole truth about how Geneva blackmailing him into bed. He just focused on what William really wanted to know, which is "Was I wanted?" and the truth is that he wasn't planned, but when he came into existence, he was certainly wanted by everyone (except the Earl).
@valeriazenoni64782 күн бұрын
@@MeyaRoseGirl It's unlikely and it would be so unfair. I mean yes Fanny is alive, but Faith and Jane are both dead so Claire and Jamie couldn't even know their daughter and granddaughter! I don't want it to be true

Book 9 introduced the possibility that Faith survived and mothered Jane and Frances. But it was ambiguous enough that it could just be interpreted as wishful thinking on Claire's part. I chose not to believe it because it means William slept with his half-niece. Ew. I also don't like that it retcons the story of William and the Pocock girls so that it becomes all about them being Faith's daughters. No. The point of that story was to start building a relationship between the estranged biological father and son. And then William saying "I will never call you father" was NOT in the book, (though he certainly has thought it). That scene did still happened, and it did still leave a lot unsaid and unresolved, but it didn't end with William saying something so unnecessarily hurtful. It just ended with Jamie saying he was NOT sorry, and then leaving. It actually entered my head that Raymond could have saved Faith when he saved Claire BEFORE this idea was introduced in book 9 (in the form of the "Faith" inscribed locket, plus a side plot of Claire resurrecting a stillborn using what appears to be the same power Raymond used on her). And I think there are some logical explanations as to why he wouldn't return Faith to Claire. Immediately following Faith's birth, both Raymond and Jamie were banished from France.Then there was the Rising. Then Claire and Jamie were separated by time for 20 years. Raymond could have brought Faith to Claire in the 1950s, but would Frank be willing to take in another daughter of James Fraser who would be old enough to know she's not Frank's? I also don't have a problem with Faith somehow retaining the song. It's like how Leia remembers Padme in Star Wars. Love transcends logic, and the Force exists in Star Wars to explain that, and magic and other supernatural things exist in the Outlander universe to explain this. No, my problem with this is specifically that Jane and Frances are Faith's daughters because it means Faith and her eldest daughter are dead now. And the William incest thing. I don't want to be totally negative, though. I LOVED the changed that Brianna got to talk to Brian. In the book, he saw her from afar and suffered a stroke similar to the one that later killed him. So this is a happy change.

Unpopular opinion- I reckon at the beginning title card it's actually Claire (not Faith) and the 2 little girls are Faith (the older one) & Brianna. Claire did ask Jamie later on if she would meet Faith when she dies, perhaps it's her thinking of a perfect world with both Faith & Bree. Also Claire told Jamie that Faith had beautiful copper hair (just like Breanna) so why would she have dark here in that opening moment? Faith would only be 2 years older than Bree, who is still perfectly ginger! But yeeeeahhh, what an episode! My therapy bill's in the mail to Starz for this one lol. BTW, heard a rumour that s8 might possibly be October this year, after BOMB in summer.
