Lord John is top tier in everything. I love the character so much . Brave, handsome, heroic , smart, refined, and what a Gentleman who knows how to act with dignity. David Berry rocks.

“I will never call you father.” One episode earlier: “Never is not a word to be trifled with, William. Be careful with it.” Gotta say I love how central Lord John is to so many of the crucial relationships in this series, & in such an interesting way. I hope dad & son get some more growth/learning in season 8, & LJ gets some serious payoff. He’s earned it.

In the books, Master Raymond is a spectacular character. He is a time traveler, from very ancient times, he is also Claire's and many other time travelers ancestor; he is one of the travelers who have the "blue cloak", that is, the power of healing (which Claire developed and which Dr. McEwan also had, he only appears in the books and saves Buck and completely cures Roger's neck in 1739), and as if that were not enough... he has the power to take the form of animals. I think he took Faith and raised her, because he knew that if Claire and Jamie had raised her, they would never have helped in Scotland or in the American Revolution, nor would characters like William, Brianna and even Roger have been born. And I think he asks for forgiveness because, in addition to taking his daughter away from them, he could not take care of their granddaughters of ended up in that sad life. I'm beginning to think that Raymond has transformed into a dragonfly several times, to be with Claire, with Faith, with the girls... and why not?, even to be the dragonfly inside the amber that Claire received as a gift at her wedding with Jamie.

Anna, honey - Rollo died because he was old. Remember, Ian got him when they first arrived in America and Rollo was an adult when Ian found him. And they did announce that Blood of My Blood will be premiering this summer. And we know that S. 8 has finished main shooting, so hopefully we won't have another year+ Droughtlander after that. Love your review!

Such a great finale episode. I guess with indoor plumbing, we take for granted the open door urination that is so common among married couples, LOL. One of the best in the entire series. Claire usually is the healer, she is not used to being the one that has to be helped. Such a great episode and a rollercoaster. I love Izzy and John together as Ian and Rachel - I was waiting for this when she reveals she is pregnant. I also am going to miss Rollo - I think he was right, that he waited for Ian to have Rachel before he passed. I hope that John can still see Dewey (who plays Rollo) in real life though.

Master Raymond is a surprise to the book readers too. What has he done to need forgiveness ?
@mbjohanna725613 күн бұрын
IMO, since Faith was legally Dead ( Claire had her for HOURS, n a Nurse knows... ) Master Raymond is from the Future, and/or has a magical GIFT, so He resurrected Faith, raised her as his child, as he is Ugly n has no one to Love him. CLAIRE has the Blue Lite, also, so maybe she and her Granddaughter FAITH, in the New Season 8 TV ending, can All go to the 1980'S and resurrect JAMMF, as He dreamed of SEEING THE FUTURE! ...only in my dreams... CUT !! FADE to BLACK!

That’s what I think- and there may be a supernatural element beyond time travel to Raymond… the wings, the blue light, the mention of angels in the episode title… he may have some sort of mission on earth.

More about Jamie & Claire weathering another battle on the Ridge.
@gopherlyn14 күн бұрын
I think (my opinion only) Master Raymond saved Faith using the Blue Light, like he saved Claire. In Book 9, they were back at the Ridge when Fanny showed Claire the locket with Faith's name and picture, and Claire had the same visceral reaction to it, but later when she told Jamie, he said that it could not be. That was all that was said about it. There was no Master Raymond and the song, so that was totally new.

Well, I loved the Master Raymond and Faith story. Master Raymond, could have taken the infant to the future where or rather when she could be saved. Maybe Master Raymond heard Claire sing the song and taught it to Faith…in the book, that Faith was their mother was a possible implication. I like how on the show, it’s a full blown revelation. Diana Gabaldon has said that Master Raymond is like 8000 years ago and is the original time traveler and the ancestor of the others like Claire. I always thought he was alerted to what Claire was when she revealed to him how her uncle took her to Africa! How would an aristocratic lady in the 1700s have traveled to Africa??? That’s unlikely. He knew. Gabaldon at some point said she’d like to write a series of books just about Master Raymond. Since she’s very SLOWLY writing book 10 of Outlander, I doubt that will ever happen.

What an emotional finale. I BOL'd (bawled out loud) three times: Roger and the family, William and Jane, and Fanny. I was hoping the woman and two girls at the very beginning was Jane, married to William, and their two daughters. Ugh, Jane's life story was so tragic.😭 If Faith lived, for what reason(s) would either Master Raymond or Mother Hildegarde have for stealing Claire's baby?!

I've been thinking about this little twist... maybe because it was fate for Claire to do certain things & if Faith had "lived" it wouldn't have happened

I liked the change from the book that Brianna got to talk to Brian and meet teenage Jenny. Since they DIDN'T meet in season 4, there's no problem. Book Brian saw Brianna and Jem from afar and thought he was seeing the ghosts of Ellen and their eldest son, Willie. Brian suffered a stroke, confirming that the stroke that killed him when he thought Jamie was dead from being flogged was actually the result of a pre-existing condition. Jenny never saw Bree, Jem, or Mandy. But Jenny DID see, talk to, spend time with, and even eavesdrop on Roger. I HATE the change that Frances is Claire and Jamie's granddaughter. Raymond's visit and the song were NOT in the books. Book 9 did introduce the POSSIBILITY that Frances is their granddaughter, but it was left ambiguous enough that you could interpret it as not true. Jamie didn't believe it and managed to convince Claire that it probably wasn't. I chose not to believe it because it would mean that Faith is now dead, her daughters were sold to a brothel (we get a little more on that backstory as Frances gets more comfortable with the Frasers), and William slept with his half-niece. No. Just no. Plus it cheapens the story of William and Jamie going on a doomed quest to save Jane, then William asking Jamie to take in Frances. The whole point of that is to start rebuilding the trust between bio dad and son. It all got undermined and overshadowed by William's hurtful final remark (again, not in the book) and the revelation that Raymond stole Faith, and Faith had a whole life away from her family. I hate it. I feel like whoever wrote this episode didn't understand the books at all. And DG even said on her Facebook a few days ago that she feels this story was handled clumsily. I'm not even bothered by the stillborn Faith somehow retaining the song Claire sang to her when she was resurrected by Raymond. It's like how Leia remembers Padme in Return of the Jedi. It's not logical, but some things are just transmitted by love, and this is a fantastical enough show that I can buy it. It actually entered my head even before book 9 introduced the locket that maybe Raymond saved Faith when he saved Claire, and there are logical reasons why he didn't return her. Raymond and Jamie were banished from France and probably went different directions. Then the Jacobite Rising happened. Then Claire and Jamie were separated by time for 20 years. Maybe Raymond could have brought Faith to Claire in the 1950s, but would Frank accept yet another daughter of James Fraser as his own? One that was old enough to KNOW she wasn't his? So I don't have a problem with Faith surviving, but I DO have a problem with her ultimate fate and that of her supposed daughters.

What many people seem to have forgotten is that the ability to time travel is hereditary and so Jane and Fanny's mother probably isn't Jamie and Claire's daughter! She may be some descendant of Claire's from the 20th century who went back in time or someone from earlier years who "visited" the 20th century. We know from The Space Between that Comte Germain may have potentially had a daughter and he spent time in the 20th century. Gellis may have had other children and not to mention the whole Fergus potentially being a time traveller. Any of his children may have been the ancestor of Faith. What I am fairly sure is that their mother isn't Jamie and Claire's Faith ... there are just too many plot holes! A baby wouldn't have remembered that song to sing to her own children and Master Raymond may have healing powers but the baby was very premature at birth and had obviously passed away in the books. I do wonder however, if this story is going to be linked into the new Blood of my Blood series as Claire's parents may have time travelled at some point.
@sallythompson168513 күн бұрын
Maybe this Faith is Claire's actual mother who was a time traveler and would have been herself a child in 1907 when that song was written. Blood of My Blood has Claire's parent meeting during WWI. Claire's mother would be no blood relations to William, I think. Anyway, maybe that is here to tie us into the spinoff of Blood of My Blood. Master Raymond of course would know all this and why ask for forgiveness? And would that make Jane and Francis Claire's sisters. Was Claire's father a time traveler, too?
@randeereyes231510 күн бұрын
Master Raymond could very well have heard Claire singing that song to her baby girl and he also may have known the song as well at some point in his travels. If he healed Faith and raised her himself, he might have sang the song to her. Or perhaps he took her to a different time to grow up and she learned the song herself. The possibilities are endless...we'll have to wait and see, I suppose. I've read all of the books and this idea of Faith surviving the miscarriage wasn't in them! Major plot twist-and I'm loving it! I can't wait to find out why Master Raymond decided to not tell Claire about it. He cares enough about her to feel badly about SOMETHING and ask for her forgiveness! What else could it be, if not for keeping Faith from them???

@claudia135910 күн бұрын
As a devoted fan of both the books and the series, I must assert that they have utterly let the fans down. Much like with Game of Thrones (GOT), this is the unfortunate outcome when the creative team attempts to write the series without the guidance of the original source material. To suggest that incestuous relations occurred is not only an affront to the cast, the fans, and the author, but making that the season finale is nearly unforgivable.

@ I actually must have been blind or something because I heard the song and that is how I got to that conclusion. I did not see the locket part and I forgot about the beginning. So now I’m reeling and thinking they are heavily implying she lived. I don’t think Jane is Faith’s daughter though. I think only Franny would be. Maybe Franny was adopted out because Faith died and then that adopted parent also took in Jane and they were the one who sold them to the brothel.
