This is an important scene that I wish had been included, especially for adding more understanding of Claire's time travel dilemma. Should they alter history? And what are the repercussions? This show does a good job keeping a lot of balls in the air overall, considering it's only a 60 minute show. Maybe if it had a few more 90 minute episodes?

Wonderful show and scene. A Stuart, a James, a Jacobite could Not have occupied the British throne in the mid 18th century. They were Roman Catholics, England and Scotland were overwhelmingly Protestant by the time of Culloden. At Culloden, as many Scots fought with the British army as with the Bonnie Prince. The Jacobites fought bravely, but it was a Mug’s Game. The author as far as i remember never addresses this in the novels, which i greatly enjoyed. I made this point to Diana Gabaldon, she knows the history well. In the Tv programme the only Scots we see in the British army are scoundrels. One actually cuts off Fergus’s hand. Enough. 😀🏴🇨🇦 oh, what the hell 🇬🇧.

@@shadanaljanabi2929 The obituary and the fact that her name is on the deed to Lallybroch both suggest that she is a part of history. The consequences of her actions in the past have already happened in the future, she just doesn't know what those actions are yet. Have you seen Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban? It's a bit like that, but over a greater stretch of time.

Haven't u heard about the causality theory. Imagine that she kills prince Bonnie... It will be no jacobit revolution Britain wouldn't be the Britain she knows so it might be no world War so she wouldn't be separated from her husband so they wouldnt go for a second honeymoon so as a result she won't travel through the stones so at this moment she won't exist in the 18th century so the fact that she's there with Jaimie means that history hasn't changed
@Rainbow-gc6kh4 жыл бұрын
@@melikhajlawi4857 Ok, but then how do you explain the obituary? It hasn't happened to her yet, so why do they find proof of something she has yet to do? And remember, she tried to change the future and they try to kill Bonnie Prince Charles, but they fail. History had been written by her before she even touched the stones.
@melikhajlawi48574 жыл бұрын
@@Rainbow-gc6kh yes that's what I was trying to tell u history is unchangeable at least for us, people who are concerned by the events because history can be changing all the time and we don't know it because we're a consequence of that change so basically lets say that history is unchangeable because we will never know if it changes. Watch 12 monkeys, an amazing sc fi show that will help u understand the causality theory (how the time works in another words)

I know it’s fiction but Claire introducing penicillin 150 years early would probably kill millions. She’s giving the bugs a huge head start.
@slcRN19712 жыл бұрын
Having retired as a hospital nurse (started my career in the early 1970s), the ‘bugs’ became less resistant to PCN (penicillin) because doctors started using it at the beginning of a person’s fevers......... rather than let a person’s own body fight them using increased body temperatures. Plus, far too many people wanted antibiotics for a cold, or a cough, viruses rather bacterial infections. Over-use of antibiotics soon became the norm....... thankfully, this abated before I retired (I’m allergic to PCN, so it would have been a very bad treatment for me).
@jonathanbuzzard1376 Жыл бұрын
The really stupid part is that in 1968 she takes back penicillin in injectable format. Acid stabilized penicillin aka tablets were invented in 1958. She could easily have taken several hundred tablets back but no for some reason we have to believe she takes it back in injectable format only used within hospital settings by 1968 with all the issues around sterilization that creates, making her the stupidest doctor on the planet.
