Fergus found a strong, supportive, and badass woman just like his mom. Most men of the time wouldn’t be as ok with a woman being part of a plan like this since it’s “not a woman’s place”, but Fergus grew up with Claire always being by Jamie’s side, through dangers, politics, and war, so he knows and has a greater respect for just how valuable and strong a woman can be in situations like this. This situation of being without Jamie and Claire during a crisis is giving Fergus and Marsali the rare opportunity to think and act entirely by themselves without external input and prove to themselves and others that they can get it done too.
