I know talk about butchering the name the reason I know how to say it is based on a ) the characters when speaking of her or to her face . And b ) I’m of Irish descent and also have heard where Diana got the name from she was looking at a map of Dublin at the time and there’s an area just outside the city of Dublin in county Dublin called Dun laoghaire . Said as dun leery so known of the way to say it for a long time

Starz is a disgrace to make everyone wait months and months and months for this second half of a show that should have been on last year!! I hope that they don't do that to Season 8 when it's finally read to air. Trying to patiently wait for this show in November. And this person doesn't even know to say "Leery" it's not loughair!! Wow!

No Jamie never knew that Loaghair (which should be pronounced Lheer) was responsible for trying to kill Claire and actually when Claire does finally tell much later once she returns back, he tells Claire he would never have had anything do do with Loaghair (please don’t tell me because I’m aware the name is spelt differently). I personally haven’t watched any of The Outlander series because the storylines in them are not accurate to the books. I have read all 9 books and though I don’t totally agree with everything story wise in each book I prefer them to what I have seen in these excerpts. I also believe Jamie would not have married Loaghair. It appears in the book Voyager that when he returns back to Lallybroch that his sister Jenny is the one who is determined to get him married and stubbornly rejects that he doesn’t want to wed. He only gives in due to being feeling totally lost and feeling utterly lonely as life in Lallybroch doesn’t feel the way it used to. It’s plain that he doesn’t love her.

The writers decided to indulge themselves in storylines utterly unconnected to the books. Infuriating. Diana Gabaldon would be completely justified to be both insulted and disappointed in using her much beloved books as a vehicle for their egos. When they cast red headed Jemmy with a young blond actor it must have puzzled her as to why this important aspect was blatantly changed for no reason at all.

@@Fortune-z1i I am totally in agreement with you. When I see all these clips from this series, I feel pretty annoyed as a lot of the storylines are so different from what’s in the books. I also feel I am not watching a true adaptation of the book series at all, as there are so much differences. Here’s what annoyed me in a few clips In watched from some of the Outlander series that are not the same as the books: The clip when Claire and Jamie are quarrelling when she find he’s married, and thinks he has two daughters as well. Only Marsali barged in to the bedroom in a very awkward moment intimate moment in the book, calling out Da. But, in the Series clip you have Claire angry about his having a wife and daughters, one with red hair, and he replied that there were a lot of red men out there. This is a fabrication, neither Marsali or her younger sister, who is brown haired and Claire doesn’t meet in the book, are red haired. Briana in book 4 when she goes through the stones the first time, goes straight to Lallybroch dressed as man, so as to not attract any attention. She is met on the road just outside the place by Jamie Murray, who first thinks she’s a man, until her gets closer. Once she introduces herself, he smiles looking at her and says of course she is, she has the look father about her, and he can’t wait to see the look on his mother’s face when the two meet. He takes Briana into the house, she meets her cousin Margret, who tells Jamie that the Whinger is in the sitting room with her brother. Jamie send his son into the sitting room to fetch grannie out into the hall. Jenny comes out she stops suddenly totally surprised when she notices Briana, both are overflowing with delight and tearful, when Loaghaire (the whinger is the Murrays apt nickname for her) comes barging out of the sitting room shouting that she knew they were all lying and she knew that her no good brother was back in the country. Jenny turns around to face her and rebukes her telling her she’s two short sighted to not see that it’s a girl and not her brother. Everyone goes into the sitting room, Ian is also happy to meet Briana. There is a big confrontation between Briana and Loaghaire, started by the latter asking who Briana is, once she replies she’s Jamie Fraser’s daughter, she brings out her mother’s pearl necklace to confirm it, Loaghaire makes a snatch for the necklace claiming it’s hers by rights Briana quickly retrieves and replies back it’s not, that it was given to her mother on their wedding day , and her grandmother’s before that. It’s then that she Briana, first

The scene from the book When Briana meets the Murray’s and had a confrontation with Loaghaire isn’t used in the series at all. The whole of the Murray’s find out about how Loaghaire tried to get Claire burned as a witch. It’s a very big, well written scene.

I hate the character of Loanghair! The 🤬 who tried to kill Claire and succeeded in f..g Jaime who supposedly loved Claire and married this evil character! Didn’t like that the director changed the story to say that Jamie knew she had tried to kill Claire and Jamie still married the evil 🤬! That was not the case in the book; in the book he didn’t know that she had tried to kill Claire so she could have Jamie!! @@lillianyoung2129 The director and co have changed the whole story as written in the books, from the first book to whatever book they were based each series on. The changes are ones I personally can’t accept, and is a reason I don’t watch any. I personally believe that Outlander could has a much larger viewing audience if it had been more accurately cast and written. It’s unacceptable to me that they keep bringing dead characters in the books back. It appears from these clips that the whole thing is not really the books any more.

It's debuting Nov 22 and ending Jan3? Then...at one episode a week that's a whopping total of SEVEN EPISODES. SEVEN! So we waited two years...two years... for them to crank out all of SEVEN episodes? Wow! Although I've been a long time fan since the series' inception, I have to say that at this point (and after all but forgetting about them over their long absence) I really have very little interest in not just the pointless and constant, cliff-hanging plights of Claire, Jaime & Co., but have little interest in the entire series itself. Honestly, I'd venture to say that by now all true fans of the show want is to know what the heck Jaime was doing in that town square when her husband (Sam Menzies) saw him dressed in his kilt garb staring up at Claire through her window. Just tell us. Explan to us as if we were five year olds. No guessing. No 100 possibilities. No speculation. (It's not The Soparanos' ending after all). Just explain to us that one thing and go on to make another seven episodes after another two-year hiatus!!! I won't be holding my breath.

The characters this series are not completely like those in the Outlander book series. Jamie is much more sensitive and completely loves Clair in the books. None of the actors in this series look like the book ones either, Jaime is 6ft 4 inches tall, red haired with broad shoulders, Clair around 5ft 6in, with amber eyes and lots of curly brown hair, Briana is 6ft tall and takes after her father. A lot of the other characters are different in the book, as Lord John is blue eyed and fair haired, medium height.
@MichelleFlood-l4p
@MichelleFlood-l4p Ай бұрын
Oh my god you’re never going to get a complete book to screen perfect resemblance and come on Sam is darn close at 6 foot 3 and caitirona is far taller in the show than book Claire whose five four in the book and I know what a woman of that height looks like as both my maternal grandmother and cousin are that height caitriona is five ten so at least six inches taller than the book Claire . David as lord John is still blue eyed it’s the hair that isn’t the same colour but I think if he had to wear a blonde wig that would look less natural still can’t have everything caitriona has had numerous perms since she was cast that well known as well as hair pieces now as does Sam so that further damage isn’t incurred to what hair they have. It’s well known that Sam went through seven different hair colours to even get close to Jamie’s copper red hes said even in interviews that whilst he does have redheads in his family he’s not one of them his mother and brother seem to be though from photos I myself who is of Irish heritage also have redheads a couple of cousins here in australia and also a couple in Ireland where I still have family Ireland is second for the most amount of redheads per population Scotland is number one with roughly 13% of the population having red hair 👨‍🦰 and Ireland is next with 10% so when Claire and Jamie have their argument and Claire thinks Joan is his daughter he said there are a lot of redheaded men in Scotland Claire he’s not being facetious he’s speaking the truth !

Diana Gabaldon said in an interview in some magazine, a year is so ago that they, Sam and Caitirona , we’re not her Jamie and Claire. She said she hadn’t seen an actor who resembles Jaime. It’s obvious she’s happy that they have made her books in to tv series. It’s also clear that not everyone who watches has read the books, as there storylines in the books and series a very different. Having watched quite a few clips on KZbin the differences are pretty clear. I’m not the only person that finds the books better than the series.

@MichelleFlood-l4p Ай бұрын
@@harsharnsandher1363 clearly she is happy and she loves Sam and caitriona in fact sam is the only one who knows the ending as Diana told him thinking it may affect how the final season is written and now that Sam and caitirona are executive producers they have more say in how their characters are written. I don’t believe she would’ve said they aren’t her Jamie and Claire maybe because Sam isn’t the same size and who would be of Jamie he’s leaner but definitely has the muscle and broad shoulders they describe Jamie as having in the books and at 6”3 we really going to quivel over an inch difference in height ? Caitriona is at least six inches taller than book Claire who is supposed to be a small 5”4 and believe me I know what that height looks like on a woman it’s the same height as my maternal grandmother and great grandmother were also my cousin so lot of experience I say 5”4 because Claire herself describes there being a difference of a foot roughly in height between her and Jamie and there’s frequent reference to her having to be on her tip toes to kiss her husband Jamie . Jenny is even shorter she’s probably only my height I’m only 5”2 (158 c/m ) myself ! take after my moms family that way
@harsharnsandher1363
@harsharnsandher1363 Ай бұрын
No, you are incorrect, Claire’s height is given as 5ft 6in in the Outlander book, and Jamie’s as 6ft 4in. Over the years in platforms such as Reddit there has been people commenting on the drastic differences in the characters’ appearances between books and shows. Briana’s height is also way off in the show, she is 6ft tall in the a lot of books. Though everyone who watches this series seems quite happy, it is jarring to so
@harsharnsandher1363
@harsharnsandher1363 Ай бұрын
The height difference is important as far as the books go and the story. Jamie in the books, and and especially Briana both standout instantly due to being taller than most people in that time period. Briana stands out in the books as she is taller than quite a lot of the men. It does make a difference because both characters are instantly remembered by others for this, along with their red hair and matching slanted dark blue Fraser eyes. William has the same kind of eyes.

I always felt there was no need ever to bring this awful character back, but the only reason it was by Diana Gabaldon was so that it would cause the fight between Jaime and Claire when he takes to Lallybroch from Edinburgh. When they do return to Lallybroch from America in the later book he only goes to see Loaghair because he believes he should apologise for marrying her as he never loved her and she responds in her usual irritating manner. She has deliberately not married even though she has been having an affair with someone for a very long time so she could keep getting money from Jaime. These two were not legally married as the marriage is bigamous since Claire is Jaime’s legal wife.

Which in the book Jenny is the first to point out that with Claire’s return that the marriage isn’t legally valid in the show version it’s Jamie she does marry because she begs Claire to go to Philadelphia to save Henri Christian Fergus and Marsalis son who is a dwarf and has respiratory issues because of it and because he’s the mutual grandson of both women and Joan the younger sister of marsali wants to become a nun and so it has to be altered the alimony but laoghaire agrees to forego that money from Jamie if Claire will agree to do the surgery on Henri Christian this is because marsali writes to laoghaire to ask her to go talk to Claire who is at lallybroch . He doesn’t know about the witch trial and that it was laoghaire responsible for Claire’s arrest he doesn’t find out till book five
