I grew up right around the Chatsworth Reservoir from there. You mentioned the Canadian Geese. Prior to the reservoir being drained for work to be done on it and then never to be filled because of damage sustained during the Sylmar earthquake in 1971 we would hear the geese come flying in by the hundreds even sitting in our house watching tv. We would often hear the loud sound of rocket engines being tested at the Rocketdyn facility at the top of Woolsey Cyn which is just minutes from the cemetery as you drive around the reservoir. The explosive ending of the movie Telefon starring Charles Bronson and Lee Remick was filmed just yards from where Woolsey Cyn meets Valley Circle. Years later cancer studies were done at the rocket site because of the concern from all the rocket testing that took place there. The cemetery is on Lassen St. and if you head just a couple blocks up the street you will notice streets like Dale Ct and Trigger Pl named after Roy Rogers wife and horse because he lived right up the street from the cemetery. It's also worth noting that Rogers house ended up being owned by Gene Kilmer who's son is the famous actor Val Kilmer. Val went to Chatsworth High School a few miles away, as did Kevin Spacey and Mare Winningham who graduated from Chatsworth High the same year I did.

You did a WONDERFUL JOB!!!! When you mentioned about how regular people have their Graves visited, yet the Famous don't seem to. Maybe it's because the "FAMOUS" may have cared more for their "CAREERS" than they cared about being a parent. It happens ALL OF THE TIME!!!!

We certainly need such people to entertain us these days If such talents exist they are hidden from view.. Thankfully we do have the hundreds of films to watch which will continue to entertain us until our lives come to an end.

I share Sarah's love of animals. We get a lot of Canadian geese here in Indiana. From train robber to prosecuting attorney... I can't even get my head around that. 🤔 And then, back to being an outlaw who ran for Governor? This man was a looney toon! 😂🤣 I loved Ginger Rogers. They say she would practice her dancing until her feet bled! That's real devotion to your art!😁 It's so cool that you have an autographed headshot of Ginger!💕 It's always interesting to see that some celebrities have very modest graves while others have very elaborate ones. Monte Montana...I like how they incorporated the rope to spell out his name on his grave. Steven Boyd...great actor! His death scene in Ben Hur is rather intense! Fred Astaire...you always connect him with Ginger but as you pointed out, he also partnered with his sister Adele.🕺💃 Thank you for raising my awareness of people who I never heard of before.💕As always, thank you.

Hey Jeff. I see you guys are back to Southern CA and in my old stomping grounds. I’m in my early 70s now but when I was in grade school, Monte Montana came to all of the local schools with his traveling show. He’d rope animals, teachers and have gunfight reproductions. Being a retired firefighter here in Los Angeles, I used to drive our apparatus past his old ranch where Cal State University now stands. At the N. End of Winnetka Ave., was the old DesiLou home of Lucille and Desi Arnaz. Many of my fellow firefighters are buried here, as well as my wife’s parents. i really loved working at our Chatsworth Fire Station. Many times we would have calls, or see local TV and Movie personalities at the stores or while out making fire prevention inspections or writing brush notices. Several interactions with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Thank you for another informative, entertaining and respectful video. I truly admire what you give to the public and your audiences. Stay well. Ben Hur is one of my All time favorite movies and when I learned that Stephen Boyd was also there, I made it a point to go over and say hello from time to time, the same with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. One thing you do have to be careful about in that cemetery are rattlesnakes.....they come out at night and curl up on the grave markers that have been in the sun all day to stay warm.....they used to have signs up, but it's been a while since I was last there.

I grew up in Chatsworth, only about a mile or so away from this cemetery. The church on the grounds was moved there from its location on Topanga Canyon Blvd in Chatsworth, and was the home church of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, who lived in Chatsworth just up the hill from Oakwood Cemetery before they moved to Apple Valley. My family attended that churc until I was four. One of Rogers’ adopted daughters was my reading tutor when I was in first grade. My father, a veterinarian, had the occasion to be called up to the Rogers’ ranch and I got to go with him, a memory I cherish.

Thanks for the nice compliments. We try our best to produce quality shows. I could put out sloppy videos twice a week or more like some do but they lack the quality I’m looking for! Thanks again Sharyl!

I really enjoyed your video. I also had a picture of Ginger Rogers from the early 1990's. A relative of my best friend worked for her. Great video!

I just realized, according to his headstone that he almost lived to be 100 years old! I heard about Jennings, but didn't know the details of his failed bank robberies. Great video! We get those Canadian geese here in south Florida too!🤠
