I'm only here to see Dan but dude, you had a really solid race there. Solid overall time on a hard day. I think all of these longer races tend to favor being patient and aiming to negative split the run. The good news is you're super fit and you've got the legs to beat some serious super stars in the next few races. 🤩

Well done for stopping Harry. Many others wouldn't. You can take many positives from this race. Mentally to keep going, next time you feel like you're not sure if you can keep going in a race, you'll remember Outlaw half, how much worse your felt then, how you did keep going and how you only just missed out. The staggered starts do make it harder to know where you are in a race but like you say there were other factors at play. You had stop, you weren't able to gauge your race position properly, you didn't fuel properly because you had stomach problems, take those things out of the equation and you would have likely been top 3. Knowing this shows you that your pro licence will happen and come again. Well done mate, keep going.

Great effort, great race, great result! Congrats! I probably missed the video where you explain the criteria for getting the pro-license. I apologize for it :-). And I am curious now. What exactly are the criteria? Be on the podium, be the first age-grouper or both? Are there other criteria? Can you get it only in selected races, and in that case in which ones? Will you get some support from the UK triathlon governing body? What are the advantages of having a pro-license in the UK? I assume that it is different for each country.
@Harry-Palmer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas. So you have to be on the podium and the first age grouper at these events which are called ‘gateway events’ but at Ironman events where there are pro fields you have to get 2 races where you finish within 4% I believe. I won’t lie it all still confuses me 😂 I think I’m the UK it’s pretty much the hardest to get a pro license, I’ve heard in other nations you can just email the governing body and they hand them out 😂🤦🏼♂️

Great shift you put in Harry! Last weekend was my first ever Triathlon, with a respectable time of 5.30hr when I was training for a sub 6hr. Can you care to explain what you mean by riding in a group (with surges) when the race was draft illegal? Surely being 10/12m back behind riders you don't get the advantage of draft, or do you find they help to pace the ride even faster for you? Thanks!
@Harry-Palmer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ahh that's a mega time!! Well done. Yeah so of course it is draft illegal but even with a 12m gap there is still a bit of an advantage. If the group is big then every rider back gets more and more of an advantage so there is definitely a benefit to being in groups. Unfortunately the faster riders try to surge away and break it down but not all riders are willing to put in turns and then that leads to frustration. This is why Lionel Saunders and Sam Long are both advocates for a 20m draft rule so that the faster riders can actually break away
@leewalters27943 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the TT starts are necessary, but it does really affect the dynamic. Still, it is what it is. The club who run my local time trials contact the highways agency to fix potholes, so presumably Outlaw can do the same - it's been a long standing issue. Still, did look an awesome event. How did you front bottle cage work out?
@neilianparker64873 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t just Andrew that had thought he’d won, Outlaw posted a video of him crossing the finish line announcing that Andrew was the winner, they took it down about 5mins later …..Doh 🤦🏻♂️ was funny because on the tracker we could see that Josh was leading…haha

So... When's the next race? Also if you are running a 1:16 half marathon during a Half Ironman what's your time when you are just running the half? (really interested in the answer)
@Harry-Palmer3 жыл бұрын
Next one is next weekend (4th July) at Holkham hall. It’s another outlaw event and another chance at the pro license. Yeah was a bit gutted with the 1:16 off the bike as I know if I paced it correctly I should have got sub 1:15. Stand alone PB is 1:11

You didn’t mention how this race effected gaining your Pro license again as I see that with Andrew coming second he was given his Pro license, did you need to be the fastest non Pro? Or can you stay lol use this result and another to achieve the pro license???

So the young stud couldn't beat the ancient Tim Don (he's quite fast for a 43 year old guy to put it mildly) - anyway let's not dwell on this and focus on what's important. Firstly, you won the KZbin battle between you and Triathlon Dan on the bike course which is what really matters (your pride is still intact there :P) - Also, does this 4th place bring you closer to turning pro? or you need the podium for this?
@Harry-Palmer3 жыл бұрын
Haha true that was my only goal for the race 😂😂 unfortunately that doesn’t give me the criteria for the pro license. I needed for finish on the podium and be the first age grouper so the pro license went to Andrew which he very much deserves 👍🏻
@gaelchouchelamane75833 жыл бұрын
@@Harry-Palmer that's a shame wrt pro license, however, your performance should give you enough confidence that it is just around the corner so keep at it, you're nearly there. Agreed congrats to Andrew for his performance and to Josh as well (let's not say anything about Tim, except maybe he should retire and leave the spot to the younger guns :P)
