While I’m sure there are some who like this story; to me this plane is everything I was worried about for new planes when Omenpaths became a multiverse-wide thing: characters from other planes are taking over the story so this plane can’t establish itself. And it’s pretty distracting. Like, this is the long awaited(-ish) cowboy plane…and we have no real cowboys, none that matter enough to be legendary creatures anyway. Everyone important we know on this plane is either confirmed from off-plane, or a dragon. Our starter town was even blatantly founded by off-planers and we’re only expecting more off-planers in the big city. It begs the question of why they’re even dressed as cowboys? Who are they blending in with? The store owner? When we’re done here, how many characters will we have that we can say are _from_ Thunder Junction that we could expect to potentially appear on other planes in turn?

For real. This feels like characters cosplaying other characters which shows a lack of pride in Wizards' own creativity.

Unfinity encapsulates my feelings towards this kind of story telling. It's just a theme park, a set of shallow attractions, gimmicks, and some familiar mascots parading around in-costume. It's not a world one can explore, its an experience you walk through in an afternoon and exit through the gift shop. There is no real depth to it. And what little is there is just tropes. The ex-outlaw who wants to be left alone, the convoy ambush, "unexpected" cargo, the key not being a literal key, even the legend of a hidden vault of treasures drawing outsiders into a lawless land. (borderlands anyone?) Not to throw shade, but isn't the naming a little uninspired as well? What's the tradeport where the omenpath connects? Omenport. What's the most well-off town where the big company operates? Prosperity. What's the vanilla cowboy town for our new character calls home? Saddle Brush. What's the hidden treasure vault called.. The Vault.

Since they're doing all of this Universes Beyond stuff, this set should have gotten a Borderlands crossover. They're copying enough from the game already, might as well go all out with it.

I dont know who this dragon is but he better look epic on a legendary card. He sounds like an awesome candidate for a commander Meanwhile this is the first time since we met Kellan that he's actually actively looking for Oko. Finally this B plot is almost over

I understand Wotc want to do something new and try to be more “mainstream” cool I guess but idk this one’s feels eh for me so far. I am looking forward to bloomborrow or whatever as it’s new and weird in a way that fits while a whole western themed world feels real “man made”. Idk I enjoy the sets and worlds that feel different like a ravnica set but card abilities and types are all flipped. More white zombies or blue goblins kinda thing. Just do more original stuff and less let’s pull from other places.
