If we can get our government in check and functioning properly, we will then be able to withstand the global elite organisations and their mandates on countries such as ourselves, but that will never happen if our government isn't completely restructured with people in place who actually care about and represent our people/communities. For the moment, those international forces are beyond our control or purview of influence and somewhat irrelevant to our plight.

All of this has been covered in-depth by late Milton Friedman who was a Libertarian and a staunch advocate for small government, meaning less regulation and state interference within markets. Friedman also advocated for less direct state spend via subsidies and redistributive policies. He stated that when markets were in balance, all the rest of social needs are taken care of by employment. He did agree that the only area in which the state should spend was on improvements to infrastructure. He stated that there should be a strong correlation between private enterprise and government spending on infrastructure.

@melodiesofcalmandpeace yes correct ... and his macro economic theories were put into practice to a degree, which is why the pre-1994 government survived as long as it did dispute being heavily sanctioned. What you speak of happened in France commencing in 1789. It also took 10 yrs. This was an external type of pressure that eventually brought some change. I hope SA does not go in that direction. Corporate intrrests are not really good for most citizens. Money based influence is a problem, not a solution. An organic people first solution needs to emerge. In fact, that is what is happening, and of course, this does not work for private interests as you assert. Government stepping back often leads to corporate interests stepping in. That is often not great for working people - profits before people - and no purpose other than MORE. The balance between sustainably and profit for the purpose of ongoing investment with benefits to workers are in all the management and leadership literature, but in reality, never practiced. The 19th century business model needs reform. Focus there FIRST.

It's pretty clear that the artificial enrichment of the higher levels of state employer have benefited certain sectors of the economy as a whole. However, this ever increasing spend on state employees can be interpreted as nothing more than a state subsidisation of the economy as the employees are earning well above their individual worth in the economy as they are generally underproductive and often unnecessary to the functioning of the economy other than gatekeepers of excessive economic regulation.

One of the criticisms I have for BBEEE is that it often benefits a small, politically connected elite rather than the broader black population, perpetuating inequality within the very groups it aims to uplift. However, I do not believe the solution is to completely eradicate BBEEE. Instead, it needs an overhaul to become more inclusive and effective. Any replacement system must genuinely address the historical inequalities that undeniably still exist and continue to affect millions of South Africans.

@@samanthaholm9634 Hi Samantha, I appreciate your perspective, and I agree that starting businesses and creating jobs are crucial steps for uplifting communities. However, systemic issues like historical inequalities and unequal access to resources can’t be solved by individual efforts alone. It’s not about forgetting race but recognizing its impact and finding balanced ways to address past and present injustices while empowering individuals like you and me to contribute meaningfully.

WRT the Climate Change Act - although it imposes massive bureaucratic responsibilities on government, the government notoriously ignores its own legislation. For example, the Occupational Health and Safety Act - many government employees work in profoundly poor conditions, including those occupying admin positions. On the other hand, corporates, through their ISO systems, are duty-bound to comply with legislation, otherwise they cannot export to the west, including the US and EU. I believe that IF government (including municipalities), were to comply with their own legislation, they would probably collapse.

Funnily enough BEE has effectively empowered no one but the state.

The Common Law MUST be EMBRACED to DEFINE the SOCIAL CONTRACT between the TAX PAYER aka CITIZENRY and the STATE. When the SOCIAL CONTRACT is BROKEN whether INDIVIDUALLY or SEVERALLY, the CITIZEN is ENTITLED to WITHHOLD TAX. The Common Law MUST be EMBRACED to END the ABUSE of STATUTES which place an UNNECESSARY BURDEN on the CITIZENRY. An Example would be the RATES charged for the AVAILABILITY of MUNICIPAL Services. The half-meter of copper pipe from the municipal supply to the property is set down and paid for when the Public Township is subdivided. A ONCE-OFF cost for infrastructure NOT on the ERF of the OWNER. In effect the recent amendment has homeowners paying repeatedly every month for the same infrastructure which will only fail, if at all, sometime in the future. It is only upon failure when a contribution for the repair could be justified. Marxism only works when the PEOPLE are TAXED!

All these incrumental legislative decisions seem to have become operable since Iran has become an assistant 1o ANC , the alignment with the NDR os all because of taking the upper hand against Israel and also Russia on the expectation that the ANC would have a majority. The expectations for business and energy transformation are just second hand, not a priority. The fact that a major move to consolidate power with outside agency is now the effort of trying to downplay their own loss of expectation, especially the unfair use of municipalities to create the effect of winning the election anyway It has in fact been such a big move, aside how much further assistance from Iran and Russia is more of a concern than whether we have harbours, rail, water & electricity by far.
