Auto charge for EVGo is the only thing that has worked consistently for me with regard to CCS charging. I know this video is old and I think I set up auto charge before I actually went to the charger and then I could activate it when I arrived. I don’t have to DCFC often but I have found that EVGo is usually more expensive.

Looks like a fun time! Took me about 2 minutes to set up on my Kona Electric. Works great! The 50 kW Tesla plugs on EV go chargers do not work with Autocharge+. You have to use the CCS and adapter for Teslas. It’s also worth noting that Autocharge+ does not work on all manufacturers vehicles! Thanks again Dave, Kyle, and Branden!

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Keep it up Dave and Kyle. Not too long ago, I had to help a fellow gasoline motorist at a fueling station when they started rolling out chip card readers (solution was to leave card fully inserted as instructed on screen). Sure, there's a population who use smartphone mobile apps for mobile payments and such, but that's going to be smaller than folks willing to be tied to an app to refuel their motor vehicle. EV charging vendor user validation needs to include users outside of tech/auto enthusiasts.

I tried setting this feature up two months ago and it failed several times on two different stations and gave up. if I need to use one in an emergency I'll do a Pay and Charge the old-fashioned way. One of the most common error messages I have gotten was something about a "bad cable/charge port connection" I think it's the weight of the cable hanging off the car. For now, I'll stick with Tesla Super Chargers. I know they work.

Hey Kyle and Dave, Thanks for going to all of this trouble to the problem of not owning a Tesla. After viewing ALL OF YOUR DEMO VIDEOS, I know I made the right choice in buying a model 3. In 2020 I knew infrastructure was going to be the main problem with EV's so I decided to only charge from home and only take our airplane to visit out of state. I still have 1000 free miles of supercharging available so I would only go where Tesla Superchargers are available if I did decide to take the car. To date I have sold about 10 Teslas always advising against any other EV because of the messed up infrastructure. All that has to be done as of this writing is for all of the manufactures to thank Elon for his generosity and use the same charging system that is on the Teslas.

so what happens when your phones internet stops working and the app effectively becomes useless? can you just get your debt card or whatever and just charge your car? or is it more complicated than we know? i'm likely going to be a very late adapter in EV cars, mostly due to the cars are way to expensive right now, i mean it was a joke that people were actually recommending getting these cars when the gas prices were getting worse and worse, but if a person is getting to the point where the gas is too expensive,. what makes them think that anyone is going to be able to afford any of these cars, so it was pretty much a stupid argument that went nowhere fast. but right now the situation is both are too expensive and unrealistic for most consumers, or it's like that saying where your stuck in between a rock and a hard place and you can't really move forward at all given the shitty circumstances. although i must admit during the plandemic with people working from home helped them save gas and can still help them save gas, as they don't go anywhere that often, however when it comes to industries that offer transportation of goods, this is kind of where we meet some damaging issues as the price for food and labor force is also going up due to inflation as some places you work aren't quite matching up on what people can afford realistically. so on the surface it looks like it will save people, but there are a lot of little issues that still exist that need to be properly handled in order for us to move forward.

@@rogerstarkey5390 so i actually wrote this in another post. i think he's attempting to appeal to all parties, so there are some things he agrees with on the left and makes an effort in helping in that regard and then he's also trying to help people on the right as well. unfortunately this comes off to most people as a grift, and it may very well be a grift, but i think he's striving to get all of us to some kind of unity. as i said i'm not really a fanboy, but i have learned about him and listened enough of what he has done and talks about that i believe he's really trying to help people, he just doesn't know the right way to do it on every step of the way, which is why he deserves a little bit pushback at times. i also think he gets a lot of his motivations from the great Nikola Tesla who strived to provide the world with free energy, but the powers that be at the time didn't like his goals and they sabotaged his goals constantly because he was a real threat to their business model and making money where Nikola wanted to provide something without enriching himself in the process. but this mentality was a character flaw in Nikola, as you need to make money to not only advance technology but you also need the support of the people to make it possible. doing things completely free from the beginning is a noble goal, but it's not the best way to make it happen as it's not very realistic as this won't lead to much getting done in the process, Elon seems to understand this, so his stuff makes money and that money is used as a vehicle to bring forth that future endeavor of affordable energy, technology as well as clean energy as well as making a difference. but a lot of this stuff will take time, just like they say, Rome was not built in a day, it took many many years and effort to make it happen, as will his goals. with twitter i believe some of his goals are also supposed to be noble, even though he's a bit sarcastic or a troll and sometimes he will post really good truth bombs, but i think he's trying to unite people because this mentality or path that we have been on is only leading us to ruin, with our petty squabbles day in and day out. we focus on the drama more than we focus on working together for the greater good of humanity. if we can get to that point, than nothing will stop us, but to many just want to fight over very small petty issues, and it might get to a point where people go to war, which i believe Elon is attempting on preventing, but he will call out those who are involved with corruption as much as possible, maybe he's using these things to get us all to unite?

it doesn't. thankfully if/when you're not "phone addicted" EVGO also offers an RFID card to use with their network. honestly never had any major problems with the app but I stopped using it almost immediately once my card arrived, and that was 2 years ago. it was just easier, faster, and more reliable to pull the card out of my wallet and touch it to the front of the machine than to wonder if my phone is having connectivity issues or if a problematic charger is the issue (it's one less thing).

I have a Bolt EUV, and GM has EVgo Autocharge enrollment within the app. I didn't have to go through the whole rigamarole (that's how you spell it) that you do with other makes/models to pair, so it was super easy to use. It has now worked flawlessly 5 separate times for me. I really like it, but my *only* complaint is it takes just a bit longer - on the order of 60 seconds - to authenticate and start charging with the Bolt. If EVgo can roll out a truly nationwide network, they will be the CCS provider to beat.

The problem is that evs are NOT for gearheads. They’re for tech heads. And that has enraged the gearheads cause they don’t understand it and consider this as encroachment on their turf. I’ve never cared for cars, but evs have fascinated me. Like most techies it’s not really about the current state of the tech but the vast amount of possibilities for the future. Gearheads have adopted a 100 year old reliable infrastructure and frowns on change. That terrifies them. Every new form of technology has always been called a fad right before it took over the world. Horse and buggy crowd called the car a fad. Radio crowd called television a fad. Then the internet, and now EVs. They’ll lose and be left behind. Always struggling to catch up and always rely on others. Self fulfilling prophecy.
