Definitely getting a VF7. The chairman of Vinfast pretty much said he's willing to use half of his wealth to see the car brands' success. From my understanding, he's a trillionaire when you add all his properties and companies. That and the ridiculous 10 year warranty total warranty. Also, can't wait for the VF Wild EV truck🤠

Hi Francie, the videos of your trip were interesting and compelling. I am very glad that the bugs were taken care of with that software update and that the dealer was happy to assist. I'm sure these videos will give prospective buyers more confidence in Vinfast.

Thank you, Francie for sharing your VF8 experience. I am driving a VF8 Plus, and it's been great after almost 4 months. It's always fun to drive the EV because it's smooth, comfortable and roomy. The best thing is that after my old car trade in and a $200 deposit, I pay only $280/month-roughly $9/day to lease a brand new and fully electric midsize SUV with a dual-motor AWD powertrain producing about 402 hp! I don't think any new EVs or ICE/hybrid vehicles nowadays can offer that unbeatable monthly car lease payment! According to reports, the average lease payment for a new vehicle is $467 per month. I think Vinfast right now is offering the similar promotion of $239/month (with a $3,000 down) during this summer. Don't forget to ask them about the value of your old car trade in, so you probably won't have to pay any money down out of pocket.

Thank you Francie for the VF8 efficiency info after the 7 day trip. On average, the VF8 achieved a little more than 3 miles/kWh, and the VF8 battery has an 87.7 kWh battery, which mathematically means 3 miles/kWh x 87.7 kWh = 263 miles range, and the travel range of a VF8 on a full charge battery that Vinfast has posted on its website is 264 miles. WOW!

This is the point I tell to some one who asks feedback about VF8. this car doesn't use Guess O Meter, range advertised is pretty much you get in reality. Not like other EV who boasts 4.5 to 5 miles/KWH but it's impossible achieve.

I have watched another youtuber who had a road trip with VF8 around the U.S and it was fine. I think mostly with the software issue. Even Tesla has issues and other well know brand car companies have issues when they just came out and or up to now. Therefore, it is normal. However, I think Vinfast has the best warranty (10 years warranty and with 125,000 warranties, bumper to bumper). Therefore, for me it turns out Vinfast might be a good buy. I have tested driven VF8 already, it is very heavy compared to other cars. Heavy is good for safety matter but not good for the battery and the tires. There will always be a plus and a minus so buy whatever you like out there. :)

Yes. The VF8 is getting better and better and better. That's the magic of EV. Software issues are no big deal cuz future updates will solve 99.99% the problem. VF8 hardware is top notch. They build the VF8 like a tank that stuff with all kind of high tech thing, all the sensors, processors,... Just by pulling the door you can see right a way the different, this makes Model Y doors feel like some cheap shit. Somehow Vinfast is likely to be the future big boy in EV industry.

Hi Frank, I do love hearing about your updates. By the way, I also used a better route planner to go from Wichita, Kansas to Denver for my Porsche Taycan. it had me stopping at those same three chargers that you went to, my total charging time would be 37 minutes and 6 1/2 hours of driving at 10% over the speed limit. That charging time of courses, if the chargers are working optimally, which is sadly seldom the case. I also calculated out your total cost along with the mileage that you gave and figuring four dollars a gallon, which I know is quite high for that area of the country it’s more of a California slanted pricing, it’s 23 MPG, so it’s certainly not. I would say cost competitive driving that electric vehicle with the charging prices.

Hi Francie! I’ve made this trip several times between Fort Collins and Cabot, AR, and stop at the places you did. The Broken Arrow charger addition has been a huge help, otherwise I’d have to hit the Francis Energy on the OK turnpike. I do stop at the EA in Blackwell, OK because Braums is a guilty pleasure. With the Ioniq 5’s charging speed, a Comma 3X for better HDA2, and no dog, I’ve made it in a super long, 1030mi day. But I get that the Vinfast and the Fisker you ran into attract some attention!

Wow! The cost of charging the EV, ranged from $9 to $39. It would be at least $90 for each time to fill up the gas tank of a similar SUV. I was told it would take roughly 8 hours to charge the VF8 battery from 0% to 90% if you use a 220v outlet at home. Try to avoid the peak hours from 4pm to 9pm, which will cost more per kWh.

I am sure you noticed it, but your shortest route to Denver from Wichita would be to use US 50/54 to Dodge City, Lamar, CO and then up to I-70. Taking I-135 up to I-70 added quite a few miles to your route but it is the only way to go because there is not a single DC fast charging site between Wichita and Lamar, Colorado, a distance of 306 miles. In fact, there is not a single DC fast charging site at all in Kansas south of I-70 west of Wichita. This area of the US is a total dead-zone for EV charging and needs to be fixed. Yes it is nice to drive Interstates all the way, but when that adds hundreds of miles to your trip it is a ridiculous situation.

What? You didn't have range anxiety? What a great drive. I have driven to Denver from Oregon to visit family. It's a nice drive. However now that I have a Leaf there is not enough infrastructure for me to make the trip. There is 100 miles between stations on highway 80 in lower Wyoming. I could get a used battery that would upgrade to 200 miles without the expense of a new car and make the trip nicely. There is more than one way to get to a destination though. Have a great stay in Colorado.

Francie updates take 5 hours because they are done through OBD2 data port not wireless. OBD 2 protocaol came out in 1996 1 Think of it like dial up internet ..slow, very very slow. Thats why it takes so long for ALL EVS that need to go to the shop for Updates . On my ID 4 was told some updates could be done over air others need to go to shop, when at shop OBD2 required. Good to hear updates took care of all/most of the software issues. You're loaner was it a 2023 or a 2024? 2024 is suppose to have faster charging (and different battery than 2023) , as well as new software Sounds like you had a very good trip overall. cant wait to see all the testing results, looks like probably 230-240 70mph hwy miles , noticed you were still pullling 86kW at roughly 80% SOC very good for it's class about same as ID 4. Averaging 44 cents/KWH is literally highway robbery. A gallon of gasoline can deliver about 33 KWH of energy. The gas station near me had 86 octane posted for 3.46.9 today. That’s 10.5 cents/KWH. I know there are infrastructure, upkeep and vandalism costs associated with public EV chargers, but 44 cents is still crazy expensive.
@dennislyon5412
@dennislyon5412 5 ай бұрын
And then . . . 2/3 of gas that is burned is . . . wasted heat! Charging at home, if you’re able to, typically costs way less than .44/kwh.
@wtmayhew
@wtmayhew 5 ай бұрын
@@dennislyon5412 Just to be clear, I’m not defending gasoline as a power source. The point is that despite higher handling and extraction costs, energy derived from fossil fuel is being sold for about 1/4 the cost of what electric energy is being sold to EV drivers. Even with the costs of maintenance, amortizing infrastructure build-out and charging equipment, operators could still make a decent profit selling electric energy for 20 cents/KWH. What charge operators are doing is setting the price so that a fill-up price for electric looks about the same as the price for a fill-up of gasoline for an automobile. They’re taking advantage of the fact that neophyte EV owners don’t realize their vehicles use between 1/4 and 1/3 the energy of a gas powered car to travel the same distance. I live in a fairly expensive electric area where the majority of power comes from burning coal, so my home rate is about 13 cents/KWH, which is still a relative bargain. You can bet that I only use public chargers if there is absolutely no other choice, and that has been a total of one time since 2014. The EV charge situation reminds me of the bad old days in the 1990s of mobile phones when daylight hour voice calls cost 20 cents per minute because there was scant competition. Healthy competition has driven down the cost of voice calls to almost zero any time. Let’s hope competition helps get EV charging cost to where it should be.
@dennislyon5412
@dennislyon5412 5 ай бұрын
@@wtmayhew I think you’ve got it. We must consider that the “pumps” for dispensing electricity are very expensive at this time, so until that price comes down - with competition - the users need to contribute toward the expense of those chargers. A good price per kwh from the power company in my area is about $.18/kwh, so knowing that I can access high speed charging out in the wild, I’d expect to pay much more than $.18 for that privilege. Some of that added cost is a demand charge, since the power company doesn’t know when I’ll be plugging in, and has to expect the worst, since EVs command a large amount of power - instantly. With backup batteries, the demand charge should be dissipated, thus normalizing the electricity cost to charge up EVs. Frustrating costs to us now, but they should improve as time passes and adoption increases. You can certainly tell that the real gauge to EV shoppers is - will the car/fuel cost me more? Or less?

@@BrentWong-hh1im I know you are not Vietnamese so you think like that. What do you think the outcome of the event will be? Is Vinfast short a few tens of thousands of dollars? What was the outcome of the event LOL? The lawsuit hasn't been resolved yet, so please stay quiet. Don't draw any conclusions.

VinFast, Tesla and to a lesser extent Rivian are setting a bad precedent delivering unfinished beta products. The VF-8 sounded like it bordered on unsafe to drive with some of the bugs. It good to see bugs being cleaned up, but vehicles should never be sold with so many usability issues.

Francie has been driving Vinfast VF8, and this video said it all: VinFast Road Trip Was A Success!

I am driving one too. Mine is a VF8 Plus, and it's been great after almost 4 months. It's always a joy to drive the EV because it's smooth, comfortable and roomy. The best thing is that I pay only $280/month-roughly $9/day to lease a brand new and fully electric midsize SUV after my old car trade in and a $200 deposit. I don't think any new EVs or ICE/hybrid vehicles nowadays can offer that unbeatable monthly car lease payment! According to reports, the average lease payment for a new vehicle is $467 per month.

@@proud4373 Thanks for the reply. VinFast has just about the best price anywhere for acquiring an EV. That makes up for the growing pains of being new to the EV market in the US. I wish VinFast well, and it looks like they’re working very hard to do right by their customers.

@@wtmayhew I appreciate your reply. I first didn't know Vinfast. Like everyone else, I had taken it with a pinch of salt until Sandy Munro had talked about the EV, which totally took me by surprise because he's an experienced automotive specialist and he spent time talking about an unknown EV brand not in 1 but 2 videos! Sandy Munro made it clear that "VF8 was not a speed demon car like Tesla, but at the end of the day people would be happy with what VF8 offered." Then came Kim Java's video taking the EV. She had spent a whole week, not just few hours test driving a VF8 Plus City Edition around SoCal, with her family-her husband and 2 little kids in the EV. I clearly remembered at the time the US EPA had estimated the driving range of VF8 City Edition was roughly 178 miles, but it was Kim Java, who publicly proved the 2023 VF8 Plus City Edition could travel 263.8 miles on a full charge (the EV battery had only 1% left). This is why I have faith in the EV maker. Last March when Vinfast offered a promotion of $239/moth to lease a VF8, I took advantage of it, and I am now driving a 2023 VF8 Plus and I love it. The EV is fun to drive. Of course, just like a smartphone, there were sometimes certain false alerts appearing on the screen, but in general the EV had been great and comfortable. At first, I was kind of worried about those messages, and I called Vinfast. They scheduled me an appointment at a Vinfast center for an inspection, and the EV was fine. The VF8 Plus has so many high-tech features that I cannot use them all. After all, the EV drives me safely from point A to point B, and I pay only $280/month or about 9 bucks/day, which won't break the bank. Life cannot get better than that.
