I love how Francie drives a car. It’s like how 99% of people do it. People just want to get to work and back reliably and occasionally take a trip here and there. A Vinfast will never be used for full send acceleration sprints or track days. It’s fun, but it’s not the right tool for the job. I would love to see what it’s like in snow, some light off road, and towing a small camper. Things that it is designed to actually do.

I live in Ho Chi Minh City. Vinfast owns a ride hailing taxi company called Green Taxi which has been in operation for about a year now across all major cities in Vietnam. It's whole fleet consists of 3 Vinfast SUV models, including the VF8. I ride them to and from work everyday, a 30 minute one-way ride, and have never observed any problems with them. Drivers tell me that they do report bugs, and eventually they get fixed. So here at least there is a test platform for their EVs, that doubles as a great ride hailing service.

Vinfast screwed themselves by releasing cars to the press when they were not ready. A lot of big car KZbinrs including Kyle and Donut declared it DOA. From what I have heard, the initial software update dramatically improved the experience even though there were still glitches. I think this is a no brainer for people that live near a dealer and could lease one for under $300 a month with $0 down. Francie! Love your review! I've had my VF8 since March and watched your first review before getting it! it started out really great but in late July we had a software issue that made our car lock us out of it and shift itself from park to drive automatically. Luckily there was a curb about 50 feet ahead and it rolled itself in creep mode all the way into it(thank god it wasn't another car or a building). Vinfast told us it was still "drivable" because the tire didnt pop on the curb but there was no way we were getting back in that car after that without the problem being fixed (especially with our 7 month old). Anyway long story short, they came and picked it up and said we needed to get a rental because they were all out of loners because of all the software problems. We're still fighting to be fully reimbursed for our rental and im just so disappointed in the customer service of the company. The car itself when there's no bugs is great, but when something goes wrong... you're SOL. I think customer service will be the death of them.

I quoted the $249 lease deal in NC, and there's only 2 auto groups in the whole state that's selling this VF8. They gave me the lease proposal, but they wanted $5k down to get to the $249 + they added about $4k mark up. I really wished that VinFast would take the Tesla selling model vs a dealership and their rip offs techniques as their middleman....

OTA Updates now available! ... sometimes. 😐 I updated to FRS9.6.1.15 OTA in my garage, but FRS9.6.1.18 they wanted to take it back to the dealership again. Not sure which ones are going to be OTA and which ones not 🤔

After the mess of Fisker and bad initial reviews of VinFast, I could understand why people would be fearful of buying orbleasing one if these. With that said, VinFast is more than a designer pushing a SPAC to cash in. The aitomotive division has the casino and resort revenue as well as ICE vehicle production that they do. This should make people believe the company will be around longer. Happy to see more EV options for consumers, but better options are easy to find.

I'm sure someone mentioned it already but I think the Settings on the Driver Monitoring stuff keep defaulting to "on" just like it is on the EU versions. As far as I know this is EU law (also a speeding-chime has to be turned on whenever you start your car here), so maybe VinFast just hasn't built the "remember Settings" option in for the NA market at the moment. Still really like the car both in looks and in how it performs. It turns heads and seems to be great for most normal people that are willing to try something unproven and new

Tesla set such a high standard for EV that it is hard for other EV manufacturers to release EV like a normal ICE vehicle

@@Fifth_Entertainment Some people hate Tesla because of Elon Musk while others hate EVs. Then there is build quality. BUT if you get over those reasons. Tesla brings affordable high performance with tons of new useful features never seen before in ICE. The rest are just "cheap copies" that are not cheap!

So honest question, can you not just put the car in park and leave it running then lock the doors with the keyfob? I do this all the time in my 2017 bolt ev and it’s zero difference from needing a “dog mode”. The car will stay running for hours if needed but obviously you wouldn’t need it that long. Does other EVs not let you do this or something?

I have a VinFast VF8 Eco and a Model 3 RWD. One is light and fun to drive in the city but loud AF on the highway. The other is big for city driving but it’s largish 87.7 kW battery makes it great for nonstop highway trips that are less than 240 miles

I agree that Francie needs to have the Tesla experience but I’m thinking she should leave with the Plaid! You guys don’t drive it that much as it is, I know you don’t plan to sell it and it lets the other Out of Spec team pile more miles on the Model 3 or push its limit on battery milage which makes for more interesting content.
