Yep. It is the million little things everyday on a farm that demands sun up to sun down to live that life. You add saw milling to that and filming it and you have more than doubled that need to milk every ray of sunshine available. When seconds become more than precious.God bless you for being tougher than the ask of you brother!

I think the main reason for the machine to be level may be to ensure the rails wear evenly. I remember the old style mills that peppered the countryside where I grew up. there were 5 within 10 sq miles of me. Those ole boys were touchy about their machinery too. Worst thing was getting rid of the saw dust. Some of them had pretty elaborate belt driven rakes and one in particular I had to scoop it out when the mill was done for the day. Cut a big slice out of my head too when I gently bumped that sharp as hell saw tooth above my head. I learned a lot about lumber when I was young, I can still pick up a board and picture what I can make out of it. Comes in handy when building clean furniture. I never learned to grade it but I grew up with those that did. Old men that could identify the tree and tell you how many board feet it would produce. Those men arent as plentiful today but, some are still around. Thank you for the video.

I really enjoy Robert @ Hobby Hardwoods, thanks to you. I'm glad to see you finally got a roller conveyor for the waste slabs. Another modification of Robert's that will help with your efficiency is welding those 1"x1" blocks on the push-back forks so you can pull back the boards and drop them anywhere you want closer to your stacking pallet. I was relieved that you only pinched some PVC tubing. I was envisioning major damage to the cutting head.

I don’t know about exciting, but it does seem to make a lot of sense! Those of us who remain ignorant about the day-to-day running of a sawmill might have wondered why (given that you weren’t inclined to put walls up…) it didn’t go there in the first place! Please keep up the great work, I really look forward to your videos hitting my inbox!

Surprised you did not go with a vacuum system into a hopper for the collection of sawdust. Then again maybe a noise issue with that? Could you enclose the end of the shed just a couple of feet down to help shield from the rain a bit getting to the mill motor?

If you didn't want the sawdust in the gravel, why did you park the mill farther onto the gravel pad? You need one more roller frames for the offload side with a stop at the outer end. Spaced apart, you can offload the lumber with the forks and handle each board fewer times!
@tinwizard644719 күн бұрын

If you take care about reducing noise of dust collection - i'm running a lt40 with 15kW electric motor - and I think its by far less noise than any combustion engine. For a stationary sawmill i'd always go for a electric one ..
