Some times every one needs a wake up call to get them fired up and moving in the right direction. 3 casts will force you to make 3 most confidant cast and if they doesn't work. Move on to some thing else or change location. Share the video with someone who can benefit too.

@@OutofWORKoutdoors @OutOfWork Outdoors so actually, I took my boy out this morning and took your advice. Made a plan, rigged up four rods,( a topwater, a senko, a stand-up shaky Head with a hollow-body craw, and a lunkerhunt finesse craw with the nedhead. ) essentially I would do a series of casts with one technique for the particular bait I was casting, and then if I got no bites I would switch the technique with that particular bait,. And once I'd exhausted all the techniques and retrieves that I knew for that particular bait, I would switch to the next rod and style of bait. if I wasn't getting a bite, I would move about 30 feet down the bank or wherever the closest spot that looked like it might house bass. Then I got a fish! On blackaxx, with lightening rod medium; fast. On a shaky head stand up jig with a hollow body craw. (3/8 oz weedless, craw was hooked through tail out hollow part of mouth which allowed the craw to stand claws up, and also have a BUNCH of wiggle on the hook. ) When I got the fish, I stayed there longer. It was a pretty prime spot I think, nice big Shadow off of a bank, right at the drop off, with rock structure in water. so after a few more casts and no bikes, I did move, as I assumed there was no more bass. That was probably the big one in the area. So I really appreciate the tips and we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more videos in the future!

The things ive experienced from fishing on the jetties was. 1)if you have people all around you use live shrimp/mullet and you use artificials. They will get the fish first than you and if theres only a few fish thats coming you better load up on live bait. 2)every little thing eventually improves your chance on catching fish from how you do your line, rig and setup. 3)know the good spots and learn forecasting 4)always research and have the gear available just in case you need to change it 5)be open to learning new things

Over the past two seasons and after a long hiatus from fishing (2.5 decades) fishing can be an entire relearning process. The soft plastics have really revolutionized the fishing industry. One thing I've noticed when fishing with my older experienced cousin is that your personal best catch locations for black bass seldom repeats itself. Black bass are terrartorial and if you do catch one at that location it doesn't mean that another nice size bass will be occupying that good spot in the future. Black bass are very picky and the lures you chose don't always work consistently. Having more than three or four rods with different types of lures saves time. I also don't like using the same type of lure as my cousin. Variety is the key and once you have noticed a trend, then fishing with the same setup will get those bites going. The same for the colors of your lures you choose holds true. I totally agree with you to stay away from the really expensive tackle, such as rods and reels. Focus on spending your money on diversification, variety, pratical reliabilty and maintenance costs. Newer doesn't always mean that it will make you automatically a better angler. Learn fishing techniques from a tried and true scientific level rather than the latest hot trends. Marketing catches naive and gullible fishermen, not fish. All I want out of fishing is to enjoy this hobby and to look forward to a cherished or memorable photo opportunity day for my scrapbook.

well said. newer technologies will deliver unique materials that may be lighter then ever. So don't always look away. But like you said, there are tired and true lures and equipment that will work. Example of this for us the black 10 inch worm, it worked 10 years ago and still works today. Glad i helped out a little. Thanks for the detailed response. I am sure many of the viewers will appreciated your response.

On point, excellent tips! Often anglers fish too slow - literally. At least in water that is not cold. Baitfish don't take their sweet old time escaping predators. When I was a kid we'd often make a bad cast, rip the lure in fast to make another cast -- and catch a fish! Didn't put 2 and 2 together back then. And when something *does* work -- trust the system. I've often said that -- just prior to getting a nice one. I've done knot testing using free weights, and a lot depends upon what one is doing. Musky fishing has odd situations, such as line that is much thicker than the snap or vice-versa, which calls for different knots than the usual. Hard to pass a 12 inch lure through a loop to tie a Palomar knot. What has done the best with big differences between the eye thickness and line thickness are variants of the Jansik special.

Regardless of what species you're fishing for the fish will tell you what they want. And they'll also tell you what they don't want that's understandable. the Palomar knot is the first knot I usually recommend to every new angler because its easy to tie. Palomar is to be avoided on fluorocarbon lines. There are many people including myself that have broken fluorocaron lines at half strength with palomar. but it is great on all other lines, just don't pull it down too tight because the line tends to cut itself by design. Leave a 1/4 tag and you should be OK. I personally avoid snaps at all cost because in my eyes its just another piece of equipment to carry and stock. I've also had snaps open up on me. There is only one snap that i do use and it is made by tactical anglers clips amzn.to/2MBE8ur.

I literally try every thing, this morning I went to a bay on Lake Ontario and I had to have seen like 100 fish jumping and being active so I knew there were fish there and I tried everything like soft plastics jerkbaits cranks spinners spoons and I was walking all the way up and down the bank and didn’t even get a bite after fishing from 6-9:30 AM. what can you do in this situation because I spend countless hours fishing and just can’t catch anything unless I’m panfishing with a worm witch doesn’t take much skill. @@OutofWORKoutdoors to be honest I'm used to just going fishing (Fishing too slow) worm on a hook, or power bait, & sit. If I catch something I'm happy, if not I don't have anything to clean, & I'm good. I guess my question would be; how do you target bass, or walleye for example? If that question makes any sense.

I deal with "Nearly Impossible" every day, haha! Tim. I grew up on Willamette River an Clackamas River near an around Oregon City an below Oregon City Falls! You know Oregon fishing? There is a cable across river below falls that limits boats from getting closer to falls! But in past we had 60-70 lb Chinook salmon leaping into the boat between my brother an me! Scary, but exciting! First fishing hog line site below falls is called "Black Point". Second hole below black point is called "Milk Men Hole" (my father worked at Mayflower Milk Co in Oregon City. Dad an I build 6 wooden salmon fishing boats). Across on West Linn side is Crown Zellerback concrete wall were Salman an big Sturgeon hole, Cool Tim

@@OutofWORKoutdoors I like to keep it simple. Usually a uni/double uni knot. With braid or fluoro you just have to do two wraps around the hook eye (Fish'n Fool knot). Or a Palomar knot. Those two cover about 99% of my situations.

Thank you for subscribing. There is no single most/best site to go to. There may be local forums or facebook groups of that particular lake that you can join and ask questions. We typically use good maps and find out that lake has in terms on creeks and shore line cover to start off. Then we try to find youtube videos. The information can be overwhelming or nothing can come up. any thing particular you looking for?

Three cast isn't quite enough casts but I agree Confidence is way better then ego crunch time fish nothing but what you know good game plans save alot of time look at past trips or experience
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
its three cast per lure. change location or change the lure. do this until you run out of confidence baits/cast on a certain spot and then move on. I have found that this will force you to give you best efforts for your three casts and it will control you time wasting on the day. It will force you to cover more water and probably force you to throw things you normally won't throw in your favorite spots. Slow techniques like dragging a jib can kill a minute per cast so you better make those 3 perfect casts. haha. Confidence and speed kills it for me many times.

New to fishing. I bought all the gear. I watched all the tip videos, but I’ve been fishing 5 days and only caught 2 eels. I live in Arlington VA and don’t own a boat. I feel like I can’t find any good spots. I’m getting frustrated. I have a lot of people that want to fish with me but I don’t want to waste their time. Piers aren’t working. The Potomac is overcrowded on the rail. Lake Anna piers and bank haven’t gotten me anything. I feel like I’m in really bad spots. Should I use a mobile fish finder? The job and swim bait aren’t best but I feel comfortable with all lures. I feel like the fish are farther out😞

Here I was feeling bad if I changed lures after 10 or 15 casts and here you are saying after three casts with varying retrieve styles and no bites consider moving location or change the lure. I will feel less impatient if I lose confidence in a bait after covering the area.

While in general, these tips are good BUT some apply best to tournament fishing. For instance, you can't always fish to your strengths if you want to learn new methods. You've gotta regress before you can have progress. And in my opinion, the most versatile fishermen are generally the best fishermen.

Like the video overall.. I disagree with the 3 attempts though. I've actually left every bait but one intentionally just to learn how to fish a bait. I do that because fishing is about patience & it's easy to say for example I want to learn spinnerbait & get irritated & take it off & go back to my go to bait.
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
3 attempts if you are already confident with what you are throwing. But yes, if you are not confidence then you'll need to throw that bait all day and maybe even multiple outings til you will like you got it.

I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong I fish the same spot as a guy using the same ned rig on the same 6lb mono line (Trilene lo-vis XT). I tried all kinds of retrievals and can’t get a single bite, the guy next to me catching 10+ bass. He was there for an hour and I’ve been there for 3. (I tried a few spots before that specific spot). I also use a Palomar and Uni Knot I know that I really suck at fishing (like bottom 10% at least) and I get out-fished by first-time, beginner fisherman. I learn new tips and tricks and can’t catch anything. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong

We're sitting in hog line in boats dad a I built for friend here in milkman hole,just below Oregon City Willamette River Falls behind! Looking left is huge CrownZellerback Paper co concrete retaining wall where clay barge was always tied. We use to tie off that clay barge an fish Chinook salmon 40-70+lbs (I'm not kidding) off the concrete wall on West side is deep hole, we know have huge surgeon hole (over 6ft have to release)! One day, George in next boat, up in bow peeing in bucket! Dad yells, 'Fish on George"! George says, yeah right an looks back to see his pole bouncing off transom! George jumps up, through anchor line into our boat an drift down river, tiring the huge salmon out enough to bring him on board! George motors back up steam to reset in our hog line an dad yells out to George, Yeah George, look down! George looks down to see his manhood hanging out for whole river to see! I never saw anyone turn red so fast! Ed, another of dad's friends Navy signalman taped out Morse Code an if I didn't get it right he hit me in shoulder. Another friend, Oscar, had a pet doe deer that lived with him, slept in his bed, an I spend many hrs playing with that deer! Remember huge strike from salmon holding pole in one hand while doing school homework in other hand! Good Times! Tim
