In 1994 my father drove 22 people on a 21 foot wooden boat to leave Cuba and we made it to dry tortugas. My brother and I were 5 and remember some of the bad weather along the way. It took my dad 28 hours to find land because we had an old boat with old motor and the current would slow us down tremendously, but he did it without resting. We made it and 30 years later we have worked hard and made a beautiful life here. We are very blessed. Great video, I will take my boys there soon so they can learn something about their history.

When you row your dingy, you're supposed to have your back to the bow and pull the oars to go forward. I know that seems counter intiuitive (cuz your facing backwards), but it's so much easier to row that way. To each his own I guess.

I like her thinking..."Hope we can get back". Where is the inflatable leaking? Pretty sinister laugh about 11:58. The seaplane is a 1954 DeHavilland DHC-3 (Otter) with a Pratt & Whitney PT-6 -34 turbo-prop conversion owned out of Ketchikan, Alaska. Seventy-year-old airplane with modern day power. Second airplane is a 1961 same model with the same mods. P&W turbo-prop engines can reverse pitch to "backup" when needed but mostly to slow down on landing to save the brake wear on the wheel brakes. Try to get some cheap teflon coated rubber tongs so you don't ruin the teflon coating of your electric skillet Captain. I know "space" is an issue, but it won't be a factor. Time stamp 28:00...the First mate questioning the captain's ability? Pegaso Diesel was from the 40's, later became Iveco/Enasa. Great video, Cap. Chilling by the beach is the best...next to sleeping in the A/C.

Thank you, captain for all the awesome information and history about those planes.
