My Dad always said, "If we have a lot of acorns in the fall, then expect a harsh winter. It is nature's way to provide for the critters.". In Ohio, we have had mild winters the past years and yes we also have more acorns this year. So I guess we might be in for it this winter!

Hi, Jodi. I've been power washing my own fence, patio, sidewalk, and driveway for about 12 years now. It's fun but there was a learning curve. Be careful how close you get to wooden items; the power washer can take off the paint like it did to your grandma's bench. If you back up a bit the spray is less powerful and will still clean but not take off the paint. I learned the hard way years ago when I was trying to clean my cedar fence. I was too close and it literally took off some of the wood!

The power washing looks like fun and makes a huge difference. I've been thinking about getting one myself. The walks and patio get so dirty, as does the stucco on the house. My oak tree only produces acorns every so many years. I had a harvest last year. The chestnut tree has a huge crop that sounds like tennis matches on my roof. My squirrels are not visiting me as they are working very hard on the harvest. I leave nuts out which are being consumed. The acorn drop was hilarious at the end 🤣

Well done, looks great! And a Donna Jean has such nice penmanship. One point to consider, in the back near the bay windows/ child picnic table, there is a downspout that ends suddenly. Maybe the prior owners used it to fill the old pond. You may want to think about extending the downspout to direct the water further away from your house, maybe run along the deck to spill out further in the backyard? Big box stores sell inexpensive flexible extentions.

Hi Jodi, what a difference the powerwash makes! It was good to see Donna Jean! She did very well doing the powerwashing. That was fun that she wrote your names on the driveway with the powerwash! Yes, it is so expensive now. The cusions are expensive. You could get some fabric, outdoor type & sew some cushions! I have done that! But not real fancy ones! If you do find some on marketplace & it's too much, try asking if they'd take less. They might not have any other people asking. So you might get them cheaper. Or give your # & if no one wants them, they'll call you back! Everything looks so clean & refreshed. Your hubby did a great job on the porch, too! Clarke is such a lovable puppy! We don't have acorns, but our neighbor has a walnut tree, so we get those sometimes & we have lots of squirrels. We don't have big trees, but we have them all around us! Thanks for sharing! You have a wonderful day!♥️😉🫂🐾🦋✏️✏️🪡🧵🧶🍄🍁🎃🧙♀️✨️

Hi, Jodi! Loved seeing Donna Jean in this video. She is a beautiful young lady. Good job on the power washing. Love watching people doing this. Clark was so cute in the window and by the door. Well, I have a new squirrel visiting me, a little black one. Now I have three regulars and if my windows are open when they can see me, they make sure I know they’re there. I see them looking in my window and have to get up and throw out some nuts. It’s like having pets without having to take care of them all day. Hugs to all. Your southern Michigan neighbor!👍💜🍁🍁🍁 Sorry, no acorns here. We have lots of maple trees. And yes, they are turning.🍁🍁🍁🍁 Check your outside vent from the dryer. I could see lint hanging from inside. Make sure it’s cleared out. Just a thought!

This is the time to get cushions on clearance at Walmart and big box stores. Kindergarten mats won't be thick but could be used in the chairs. Even 2 layers could help. Acorns .. alternate years they get heavier BUT they are REALLY heavy this year, meaning it's very likely winter will be early, harsh & long.according to almanacs and scientific studies on oak trees. FB marketplace yes.many want people to pay for top of the line brand new for old stuff!! It's not happening with me. I look for free and nearby. Have a good week Jodi

Hi 👋 Jodi! Sorry I'm late... trying to make scrap jelly's from the juice made from scraps ( apple- peels cores & pips. Peach- peels & pits that have no cracks or splits.) over the last several days. Wanted to get it done today so I can work on gf snicker doodles cookies & gf zucchini bread with pumpkin pepitos added in, tomorrow. I was gifted the peaches & apples over the weekend. I quickly made another batch of ginger peach butter from those leaving the peels & pits. The apples have been peeled and some chopped for apple fig jam and the rest sliced. All in freezer when I am waiting for time & ability to put in the work. Now done. Still working on PT for the elbow & muscles and tendons. I saw some beautiful GINORMOUS COLEUS in beautiful colors on FB recently and thought of you but realized you probably don't have space for 4' wide by 5-6' tall coleus.😂 Porches & house looking much better. Grandma's bench...try sealing it with multiple coats of clear to preserve it.

Not to put any bad juju on you. But I have always heard that more nuts falling than usual and animals foraging more is normally a sign of a long winter. I am in need of large cushions for my screened porch couch and chairs. (Our dog ate the back cushions when he was a puppy 🙄). The prices are ridiculous. I did get an email ad from Big Lots a week or so ago with their cushions on sale. I thought about it. But my husband said if we replace cushions he doesn't want the dogs on it. But that is their place during the day. So I will leave it how it is for now. It will be dog furniture I guess.

Jodi if it’s in your budget hire someone like every five years to reach* up high where you can’t reach. I do not recommend going up high on a ladder for that for safety purposes and then each year do the maintaining yourselves where you can reach. Also you did not need you waste your expensive power wash in those chairs even though you probably got it for free with your coupons lol. Not sure if the chairs are wood but also power wash is mostly alcohol which isn’t good for wood. Also do not hold the nozzle directly up to the item such as the bench you’ll see peeling paint that way. It’s meant to be held a little away from the item being power washed. Also that little blower you have would make quick work of the back deck tree debris.
@jodidunnmymessylife1847Ай бұрын
Thanks Trish. It is scary to get on a tall ladder for sure! No waste. The power washer was already out and it made quick cleaning on the chairs ❤️ It was just straight water not solution added to the power washer. To help make sure you have the best chance of NOT bringing in a spider for fall, water your plant with dishsoap, a mixture of dishsoap and water similar to what you use to hand wash a sink of dishes, that will gently kill any bugs in the plant. There is probably more than 1 spider living in the dirt/leaves. Haha

I tried so many times to power wash my house (just in my mind), finally I decided to hire a company and they used chemical to soak it, after the job was done, driveway, sidewalk were exactly like new. I hired them because I knew they have the right chemicals and right pressure on their machine. Any household power washer will not have that power…unfortunately 😢 the cost was $300 here in GA… I will highly recommend you to hire a company for this year. Then you can do it yourself.
