I am confused about Gortex. Is it really waterproof?

Yep, hydrostatic head of 28,000mm which makes it one of the best on the market. Regular care, wash and reproofing will help maintain its performance

I was about to spend over $600 for one of these arc'teryx jacket but they don't have pockets to put your hands in , that's ridiculous 😳

​@@SeldomSeen-if4pq If you're buying an Alpha SV, more than likely you've got either gloves or a harness on and are in extreme weather conditions. Alpha SV's are for the toughest of the tough and if you find yourself needing to put your hands in the pockets then you've bought the wrong jacket.

£500 is taking the piss. I've got some of their gear but I'm more than happy with my mountain equipment, Montane etc goretex jackets.

Moutain Equipment make some great jackets too. Full gore Pro m.e jackets are £500 upwards too
