In the early 2000s, I remember reading on some Star Wars forums when these props were hugely popular. Some ppl said that Master Replicas was the *be-all and end-all and the bottom line* when it comes to Star Wars collectibles... I couldn't agree more! At the time there was only Icons, which didn't produce much and they weren't as nicely engneered.
@outsider2384 жыл бұрын
Oh man, Icons. Sigh. That company was a disaster! I lost $1,000 to them. I put a down payment on a Lost In Space robot that they were supposed to make. They only ever made about 5 or 6. I knew a guy that actually got one but it was missing the power pack. They made a lot of promises but rarely delivered. I talked to a former employee of theirs a couple of years ago and he said the president (his last name was Latta) had a drug habit and pretty much everyone's money went up his nose. He worked without pay for something like 2 months with promises to get paid but he never did. A lot of people never got what they paid for. Icons filed for bankruptcy and I don't know if anyone ever got back their money from lawsuits. When Master Replicas came along, I waited long before I was ever going to buy anything from them in case their company went in the same direction as Icons. Thankfully they didn't. I agree. They were the Cadillac of props and collectibles in their day. I wish I had bought more things from them at the time.

The V2 is my favorite hilt from SW. I've got a RPK Customs version for that. Ironically I've got the MR "Hero" version. Funny how it works out sometimes.

MR released studio scale (I don't have any) models for Star Wars too... Snow Speeder, Y-wing, Wedge's X-wing, AT-AT walker (signature edition with a crashed snow speeder and snow or w/o). The signature one has Phil Tippett's, and is super cool... I also believe there's a studio scale Millenium Falcon signed one by Harrison Ford! Just 500 made and IMPOSSIBLE to find... Nobody sells those.
@outsider2384 жыл бұрын
Oh! I remember those! Yes and they were pricey even then. I would have liked the Millenium Falcon. I should have bought the Enterprise from Star Trek as well but I ended up building my own.

I’m totes jelly. There are so many options but nothing is as special as a MR Saber. The packaging the unboxing experience, the fact they are gone adds another kind of mystique I think . The display is exquisite and the mirror is a special touch. I have Qui-Gon and Anakin ROTS. Really nice. Now I need this ! 😄👌

I like the version 2 one more for ROTJ, but I really like the Anakin/Luke (ANH/ESB)/Rey lightsaber prop, because its basically the most recognizable prop and is the -"excalibur" equivalent for the series.
@outsider2384 жыл бұрын
I like that one too and I have a replica of it seen in the sequel trilogy. I think what made me like the Version 2 more is that I got a production made ANH Luke lightsaber from a guy that worked on the movie back in '77/'78 and when I found out it was made out of a camera flash attachment, it kind of ruined it for me. Haha! So knowing that all these years made me see it for what it actually is rather than the magical prop it's supposed to be.

One of the original R2-D2 props from the original film sold for $2.75 mill US, I believe in 2015 or 2017...Keep in mind these would be more now, due to inflation, fanboy/girl demand and rarity of the items.

Good stuff man! I just picked up a Master Replicas Obi-Wan Kenobi A New Hope “weathered” version. I got it from a guy that only opened it for inspection, everything is as if it were factory new, and the envelope was still sealed. It’s edition 2 out of 2500. I miss MR terribly!

No way! Number 2?? That's awesome! I'd love a really low number like that. I miss MR as well. They really had some nice stuff.
