As if sudden attack by furious squids (alright, cuttlefish) wasn't enough to leave your pulse racing and oxygen tank depleted, the ocean floor of Narcosis is also swarming with huge, chittering spider crabs. Those things Spider crabs are real, the front lifted legs have tiny little pincers and they can grow legs up to 9 ft long (if my memory serves and that's just a radius, 18 ft tip to tip) long and short of it is that no where is uncorrupted by spiders.

It was the one thing that annoyed me in Kingsman. Although the toilet snorkel is a real thing, and would work in its intended environment of a smoke filled room, it wouldn't work in a water filled one. Eggsy would have been better served looking for the air-ducts in the ceiling that dormitory _must_ have had to allow it to fill so completely with water.

For anyone wondering i believe the game name narcosis is refering to nitrogen narcosis which is a condition which affects deep sea divers where breathing in nirtogen under pressure caises symptoms such as hallucinations, a drunk like state, drop in body temperature and even coma in some severe cases

This game reminds me SOOO much of Soma from frictional games (creators of the Amnesia series), if you haven't played it I totally recommend it especially if you enjoy Narcosis

I would honestly say this is one of my most favourite games, for an indie title the story was immaculate with 10/10 voice acting and atmosphere. The ending was executed perfectly and I'd love to play it in VR.

On the subject of Spider Crabs... FailBetter's delightful Sunless Sea features one as a sort of boss. It's in the underwater Zubmariner expansion, it's easily the size of the very largest dreadnaught you can possibly get, and it's quite possibly the single hardest thing to kill in a surreal ocean filled with eldritch horrors. The best part? The game has a sanity meter, and the giant ship-eating spider-crab-thing will only appear when your terror is at least 75 (on a hundred point scale... well pas the point where Bad Things begin to happen). Actually, the best part is that the creature's named the Constant Companion. So you have to wonder... why does it only ever appear when you're at the very edge of sanity? Is it always there, just watching, following, and waiting?

Cuttlefish bone provides a source of calcium needed for egg shells, which is why they're given to caged birds. And nitrogen narcosis happens when one dives too deep on a standard oxygen/nitrogen mix, hence why really deep diving needs an oxygen/helium mix. Apparently it's a lot like being drunk but can also induce vivid auditory and visual hallucinations, not a great state to be in when you're 300 feet below the surface.

Nitrogen Narcosis is the clinical name for the bends.

Nah, the bends is what you get from ascending too quickly, causing dissolved nitrogen to form bubbles. Nitrogen narcosis is when one dives too deep using air and so much nitrogen gets into blood and tissues that you basically get really drunk. Symptoms can include euphoria, visual and/or auditory hallucinations and irrational behaviour.
