I have never gotten over my disappointment in going to the US for the first time and finding out that Donald Duck is not the most beloved Disney character. We have Donald Duck comic books in Germany that I loved as a child, and so I naturally thought Donald Duck was the big star of Disney. Mickey Mouse was always just a side character in some of those stories. When I went to the US as an exchange student in high school and got to visit Disney World, I spent most of my time looking for a Donald Duck actor. Took me basically all of my stay there to find one in the very back corner of the park. My disappointment was immeasurable.
@marhawkman303 Жыл бұрын
understandable. I saw way more Donald as a kid, and I think that your experience is because of how they want to market things and have to cut something to cram in new stuff.
@Cudddlefish Жыл бұрын
I think that's largely because we don't really have Paperinik or any Donald Duck comics in the States. I only even know about that series because I've read about it online.
@CVL13 Жыл бұрын
@@Cudddlefish What about Duck Tales though? Weren't those a thing in the States? It's so weird to me, I literally didn't know Micky Mouse was THE mascot until I went to Disney World. :D
@marhawkman303 Жыл бұрын
@@CVL13 I knew Mickey was the mascot because I used to watch Mouseketeers, and saw the channel logos on Disney channel. But when I was watching cartoons it was usually Donald, or Scrooge, and the nephews.
@shadowcat1606 Жыл бұрын
German here, too, and i've read a lot of those comic books as a kid. I just want to add that, imho, it's not so much that Mickey was a side character in them - some of them had more stories dedicated to Mickey, others where leaning more heavily into the adventures of the Duck family - , it's just that the Mickey stories were... worse and repetitive? IIRC, they mostly had Mickey as some sort of private detective going up against various recurring villains (Peg-Leg Pete for example or the Phantom Blot) and were all kinda the same, whereas the Duck family storys had a wider array of all kinds of adventures they would go on, usually to hunt a treasure for Scrooge or get some other enterprise of his going, or Scrooge would have to fend of the Beagle Boys or his business competitors with lots of different support characters appearing (Gyro Gearloose, etc) and a bigger base cast of characters (Scrooge, Donald and his nephews) to work with. Then there was of course a whole other host of stories of Donald competing with Gladstone Gander for Daisy's affection and yet another thing entirely with he usually down on his luck and clumsy Donald being a batman-like super hero.

FashionBorne is the best. Right now I have the feathered hunter hat paired with the top half of the Cainhurst armor and the bottom half of the Knight armor/dress set. It looks awesome. Stats really don't matter for much in Bloodborne, but I pay attention to them more in Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring. I'm rocking the full undead legion set in DS3 and while the physical protection is weaker than the heavy stuff, it has really good protections for lightning, fire, dark, etc. Has the bonus perk of hiding my raisin face from me, lol. I can wear it all without fatrolling, which is another good thing. I love that there's no equip load in Bloodborne.

I guess this is a good enough spot to say it: Thank you Luke for your relentless coverage of "Zelda: Breath of the Wild"... with the sequel so close by I finally decided to buy a Switch and BotW and I'm enjoying pretty much every minute in it. I'll probably cry tears of frustration when I die to the first random Bokoblin in "Tears of the Kingdom". On a side note, being about as tall as Luke and thus having rather large hands: The controllers for the Switch are a tad small turning every action into a hard mode.
