Very well said. I just came back from Doha and saw the same. The people was very friendly and welcoming. The family across the street from our Fifa village opened their house and invited everyone with coffee and dates. I counted people from 5 different nations seating in their front yard at one time, sharing stories and talking about football. It was my first time in the Middle East. I hope I live long enough to visit more countries in this region and learn more about the culture.

After Living in Qatar for 7 yrs I have repeatedly found myself in conversations with people when I head back home for Christmas or vacation about how completely wrong their opinions are about the gulf in general. The problem steams from lack of education and peoples laziness. It's easier to regurgitated 2nd hand nonsense put forward by parties or people with a media platform with a negative agenda than to think for oneself, travel to a country and experience first hand the reality of life in a country like Qatar. My position these days is generally to just say 'ok' and not engage with the person/people back home who spout this ill-educated drivel or more bluntly just tell them the 'Shut the F up'. The world doesn't care about their ideologically inaccurate hatred and neither do I, more over, nor should any other person who has even a double digit IQ and the ability to think for themselves.
