There are no side pieces.. the bottom trim has a very thin lip to hold the glass, in addition to three clips under the handle area. There was an adhesive strip at bottom of glass which also attached the glass to trim piece. Adhesive failed after 5 years. No one seems to be able to explain this. It was purchased new..

@@markatr6 Thanks for watching. If the inner glass is still intact the the oven will not rapidly lose heat and you'll still be able to bake with it.

Please! How to repair Maytag outside oven glass falling off DUE TO bottom trim rusted through. I would be happy to purchase a new bottom trim piece as the oven has little use and looks new. @@AmreSupply Of course the part is NOT available. My oven started rusting about 8 months into ownership -purchased NEW from Home Depot. What is plan B? What is my course of action for repair? What other trim piece from another oven can I use/improvise. The oven is pristine otherwise. I am poor and will have to do without an oven/stove. This purchase was a big deal for me.

There should be safety standards that these oven doors to be manufactured with. Can I purchase an entire door assemble? since that thin trim is not available. Thank you.

You might still have a different variation of model so it's best to enter you model number in this lookup tool: www.amresupply.com/lookup If the piece is not available, it might be available elsewhere on the web. As well, if you have the exact part number, calling the manufacturer might be worth it as they might be able to identify a substitute. It is not likely that you'll find an new door for an older model however a quick search did come up with this: www.ebay.ca/itm/204090609730?hash=item2f84bf9042:g:TRcAAOSwLBBjHlWd Not sure if it's exactly the same but it's close and you'd likely want to check the numbers. If all else fails, you could bring your old part into a store and try to compare it directly with a similar bottom trim. Look to see if it is the same size and would mount in a similar way. If the holes are not the same, one could potentially drill new holes.

Thanks..in my case, the outer glass was separated from the door due to loose screws. The handle and top plastic pieces as well as the two side pieces all fell apart but there is no damage to the pieces or glass. The screws are stripped and just slide into the slot so i used larger acrews to hold the outer glass to the door but they aren't long enough to attach the handle. Also, one side piece fell off the glass and appears to be held together with simple glue areas. I tried to reattach the side piece to the glass but the glass won't hold to the side piece and figure a lot more glue like superglue is needed. The handle shouldn't have come loose so easily, and i was lucky i wasn't near the oven or the glass could have struck me or broke. Any ideas to secure the glass to the door? Thanks.

Where can I get the adhesive strips? Do they have to be high temp?

Thanks for watching. It is unlikely that the exact strips will be available for ovens. It's not a common part. Regular adhesive strips might work and as the outside glass doesn't get as hot as the inside. A high temp, double sided tape would be a safe bet overall. These are available online if you do some searching. Also keep in mind that the outer glass can still be installed without the adhesive strips. Its worth a try first to see if it stays mounted and doesn't shift around when you open and close the door.

Fixed it with Double sided Extreme 3M tape. Hoping for the best. There is no diagram on GE website showing diagram of my door. Very strange. GE parts sent me crap to repair. Obviously they had no clue even after I sent pics. It like someone in China decided to build a few ovens. Yes I purchased it brand new.

Thanks for watching. The inner glass is usually smaller than the outer glass. If you can't find an exact match for the outer glass then you'll have to check several things. You can measure the size of the glass. Check how it fits inside of the mounting brackets and if there is anything special about how it's mounted. If you find the same size glass panel in another model that does not have anything special attached, then you should be able to install it into your model. Sizes can be similar and very close but you'll have to do some digging to find this out exactly.

@@meyou5089 You're welcome, we try to help in what ever way we can. There isn't always good information on all models from all manufactures. If there are no other options, you might be able to get a piece of glass from a similar model by estimating the measurements of the one that you broke. If the measurements are the same, then it should work.

I replaced the side bracket that had broken on the oven door. I replaced it last year. Now the glass has come out. Was I suppose to use GLUE to hold the glass in place besides the brackets holding it??????? There was not mention in this video about using any glue. Thank you very much. Susan

Thanks for watching. From the models we've worked on, some used adhesive pads to help keep it from sliding around but it's not something that is keeping it from falling out. As you can see in the video the bottom bracket has a lip that the glass is sitting on. This prevents the glass from falling out. The side pieces should also keep the glass in place. When you mentioned that the glass has come out, what did that look like? Did it fall downwards? or did it pop out of the sides?

@@AmreSupply This is my rental property. It has been working for a year. A maintenance man told the tenant an adhesive is needed for support. I had it all together, in the tracks all around. I have not been there to see it. What high temp heat adhesive/silicone or glue can I use to help support the glass in its place???? Thank you!!!

I am actually cleaning the outer glass as the tenant got junk in there. I don’t know how but it’s there. My question is the bar that holds the glass that had the sticky tabs on them, what is it called and can it be purchased separately? Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks for watching Janet! Not all ovens use adhesive tape. If you look closely at the mount, it might not be necessary. In some cases the tape is needed to prevent the glass from shifting when the door is opened. In either case, look closely and try to see how it all fits together. The adhesive strips is not something that is included when buying a new pane of glass. Some people have used a high temperature silicone adhesive. Others have found that a product like the 3M VHB General Purpose High Temperature Tape works well.

I have model JS750DF2WW. Outer front glass door fell off after 5 years. It didn’t break.luckily. The bottom trim bracket is inadequate to hold the glass in place. Double sided tape is needed. hard to believe there is not a trim bracket with a wider lip to hold glass in place from the bottom.!

Thanks for watching. That is not usual for it not to have that bottom trim to hold the outer door glass. It might have just used the pressure from the side pieces to keep it together. If the original didn't slide around and was held in place, then tightening all the screws as tight as they were originally should help keep it together.

This was great, but mine NEEDS adhesive foam tape, the bottom of the door lifts up without it. And the video doesn’t mention what kind of tape you need to buy 😔

Thanks for watching. If the original tape that you used is no longer good, then you can look for a double sided, high temperature tape. There are tapes that are good up to 400°F and the outer glass never gets that hot so the tape should still hold.

Thanks for watching. If the new glass piece was the same size then it might be an alignment issue. It would be good to take apart the door and try to realign the pieces in each step making sure that it doesn't shift when you try to lock down any mounting brackets.

Nope. You need tempered glass. After about 10 years you will not be able to find replacement glass-- planned obsolescence. Here's what I did on my Jennaire: removed the outer door; with a heatgun removed all the taped on glass; reassembled (you will need a few extra washers for the handle bolts; mount back on the range. Then, place two small metal screws in each corner to keep the trip tight, since it was taped glass that held in in place. Works great, looks great. The outer glass on my model is for decoration only, not function. Saved myself from having to purchase a new range. My Jenn is an '06 model.

When we mentioned using glass of the same dimensions we were referring to using tempered oven glass which is listed as a part number for a different model of oven. It will depend on how it is mounted but in many cases there isn't anything unique about the glass for one model in the way it is designed other than it's size as the mounting hardware is all in the door parts.
