14 years ago, I had to replace this on our oven. Looks like the same problem is here again. Stove was bought in later 1995 making the stove over 27 years old now. We eat most all of our meals at home, so this makes for a lot of hours of igniter being on. Our stove is an Amana. Thank you for this helpful video.

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance, Yesterday I ordered the igniter at lowest price I could find at eBay for $30.00 plus tax. The prior igniter I bough locally for over $50.00 I wonder why I did not look for the item then on-line? Still cheaper than hiring an appliance repairman both times.

Great video. I replaced my igniter and im getting flames to the oven. After using the oven after the repair, it was working fine, but we are now smelling gas when the oven is on with flames. Why are we selling gas when we are getting flames to the bottom burner?

Sometimes you have to adjust something called the air fuel mixture. It’s pretty easy to do. If the adjustment is incorrect you’ll get some gas sneaking by without being burned and it gives it a gas smell.

hi ... i just got a GE stove. when i turn on the bake the igniter glows well adn then after few seconds i hear aomething like "vooooom" i guess it is due to the flame being ignited. is this suppose to make that sound?

Our Frigidaire is brand new and we smell gas during the initial warmup .... Eventually goes away once it's reached target temp but geeeez it's strong like you think the house would blow up if someone lit a match. Have to turn on the exhaust fans to keep from passing out I suppose - it hasn't happened yet.

I would get the gas company out there to take a look. In the meantime you can try to turn off the gas at the valve behind the oven or turn off the gas to the house.

Can you please do a video on why the pilot light in my Rv stays on even when the oven is off . It stays on 24/7. Then when the tank runs out of propane , my Rv smells like propane inside . Please help .

so it should stay orange only in the beginning right? Ive noticed mine is staying orange and im smelling something weird. I have changed the igniter 2 times in the past but dont remember getting these smells or seeing an orange light from below the entire time

The igniter will continue to glow orange until the oven reaches the correct temperature and then the flame will go out and the igniter will stop glowing .

I replaced my igniter and yet the oven still takes a long time to ignite gas. It takes so long that when it does ignite the stove blows up. The explosion is contained within the oven but it is strong enough to open the door about an inch. GE oven.

Everything works fine but when I put it on bake it lights up and the bake burner lights perfectly but there’s a lot of gas being let out and I can see the fumes from the flames.

We have a Samsung oven that has a gas smell during regular oven operation. When we use convection the oven works a little better. Although when we open the door the light goes wild and seems like the door switch is bad. Would this cause the oven to not get hot and just release gas?

What if the oven smells but there are no ignition problems? With a bad igniter, wouldn't it only smell when you are trying to heat up the oven? Ours is all the time.

I think there’s a corroded hole in the burner tube that’s leaking unburned gas into the oven .

Turns out it was the element that you went over in the video. Except I purchased the part that was 20 dollars more so I didn’t have to do any cutting and taping of wires

Okay cool, a recent video. I just bought an oven and it leaks from the get-go. if I turn the gas on at the wall, with everything off on the stove, it smells like gas. It doesn't seem to be coming from the shut off valve but rather inside and behind the oven. Any idears?

Title should say how to fix your gas oven when it won't light, or how to replace your igniter... My credit ven lights and burns blue and hot, but stinks up the house like gas once lit. Before it is lit it doesn't smell at all.

Yep, I would first try replacing the igniter.

@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance The only reason I do not think that's an issue, is because as soon as I turn the gas on at the wall, it starts smelling. Electric ignition, (click till it's lit). I turn the gas on/off at the wall before and after I cook in the oven or on the stove.

In my second igniter replacement , but still pops when its turned on . I guess the NEW IGNITOR IS MADE IN CHINA TOO. DUH more cheap junk.
