U can't smell natural gas... it's the mercaptan ...gas additive to detect a gas leak

My oven and stove top both work and ignite normally. The main issues are excessive heat coming from the vent under the control panel and it smells strongly like lighter fluid. Any ideas on the problem? Thank you.
